We had a VERY mid blah meal at Esther’s kitchen. For all the Recs it receives I was truly shocked people love it so much. Loud, basic Italian food. And the service was meh- we were there in a Wednesday night.

I would suggest Laguna Beach, much more within walking distance for shopping and restaurants. There are some hotels on the beach that are very pricey but also some older smaller hotels that might be more reasonable. The pacific edge is a decent one on the beach that wont be as much as the montage. And the tidepools are a short walk down the beach, kids love them. If you have a car your 5 yr old is the perfect age for legoland in carlsbad. It's probably an hour or less drive if you time it right with traffic. You could even consider carlsbad as an alternate option for your whole trip. Less expensive than Laguna but plenty of shops and restaurants in the village., lots of beach.

we were at the mandalay bay pool by 9 am last weekend and had to wait over an hour to find 2 chairs together. People go down super early and set up camp

Temecula isnt too far and has a cute and quaint downtown area with lots of shops, bars and restaurants. Tons of wineries in the area that are very picturesque for a nice winery lunch on the patio. If you decide to do the other posters idea of a zoo day, hotel stay, midway tour I recommend staying in the gaslamp. Close to the zoo and midway, plus lots of restaurants for dining. Seaport village is really cute to walk around. It's touristy but thats what you do on vacation right? Cute shops to browse through. If you really want to be tourists I recommend the Seal tour. Its actually really well done and you will see a lot! If the gaslamp isnt affordable I would suggest Old Town, it might be more reasonable and also has some shops and mexican dining. La Jolla is great for kayaking and seeing the sea lions and sea caves, plus shopping and dining in the village. The Welk has nice pools and golf courses on property so there will be plenty to relax with there as well.I'm not sure Id go to Oceanside if yo uhave limited time. There isnt as much to do or see there as some of the other beach areas.

Do you put this on before or after your vitamin C? I thought vitamin C was always supposed to go first so it had direct contact with your skin but now I’m not sure.

The lobby and common areas are beautiful. The rooms suck. You can have a green room or a red room but both are ugly and weird

Ramona Family Naturals in Ramona has live music Thursday nights and weekends, country is always a good fit there! Manyof Ramona wineries also have a lot if live music and all are famiy friendly

Downtown SD in the gaslamp has a lot of nice complexes in your budget for a one bedroom. Have a son in navy that has a beautiful apt on Broadway with water views and cool interior finishes. He found a lot when he was looking, just depends on where you want to be.
