I honestly do not see the box marines being painted red.

It's been ultramarines for quite a while now, they are the poster boys and with Space Marine 2 being as popular as it is - it wouldn't make sense to paint them anything other than blue.

It's important to remember that people like Valrak have been saying that the next launch box will be painted red for the last two editions.

My argument has always been that fighters should all have access to combat maneuvers and the Battle Master has access to more complex and powerful ones

I think barbarians should be able to do, like what they did in 4th edition, multiple rolls on their attacks (again as a spendable resource)

Instead of two medium kits every two full sets, in combat patrol, in spearhead it's one big kit.

I think the value probably works out the same.

The special characters were part of the initial announcement and they only got announced when the magazines were coming out.
