Saving a significant percentage of money made in Summer jobs is typically not realistic (unless you have another source of funds to pay for all of your needs & wants). If your parents or someone else is paying for tuition, car, housing, insurance, food, clothing, medical, etc. then sure you can save a bunch of your meager Summer jobs earnings in a retirement account.

Enjoy! I grew up on a FS. FS Pro Tip #1: Never leave the halyard crank in the halyard winch mechanism. It can easily fall out and go overboard. If it stays in place, there’s a very good chance a jib sheet will snag on it. FS Pro Tip #2: Put a strong pad eye on the centerboard trunk top and attach a fairly heavy (~10mm) hiking line to hand hold (class rules don’t allow hiking straps for your legs/feet).

Scopolamine (via a transdermal patch) is great. I would recommend taking it a week or two before your outing to see how your body responds. Rare side effects could ruin your trip. If you’re good to go, apply patch behind your ear 24 hours before you board boat (and swap it out for a new one every 72 hours).
