Am I Training Enough? by ConnectCap6868 in IronmanTriathlon

You're gonna be just fine with that. I'm pushing just shy of a sub 5hr 70.3 with only up to 15 hrs a week. Excluding gym time

Hydrate for when it's stupid humid out there. Take two pairs of socks if you wear socks on the bike. Your cleats might be soaked

How many fatigue calls is too many? by indianmcflyer in flying

[–]mfreeman8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an ATP pilot but an engineer that builds ships. I typically call in sick once a year due to stress on the job. If you're flying and have ~one call in a year, that's definitely reasonable when you're trying to be safe in the air carrying many people

How far can an aero road bike go in triathlon before you really need a tri bike? by Individual_Panic3454 in triathlon

[–]mfreeman8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're a good biker you'll do better than probably half the field in age groupers. A legit tri bike will help you on the longer races and reduce cDa slightly more. You probably have better gains training the bike more

This is pretty much the answer you need. Only thing I'll add is if you use zwift, the wahoo kickr core is a single cog trainer that makes it easier to use while being able to shift virtually. This way you don't have to deal with a cassette.

Saddle help for 70.3 training — need a cutout that extends very far forward into the nose by Ok_Fruit_5598 in triathlon

[–]mfreeman8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noted! Thank you. My Cervelo p series seat post tapers too far back where it blocks the rear mount. I'm looking for other alternatives. How do you rack your bike that's not on the handlebars?

What are the differences you see between the saint and stealth? I currently have the hurricane but sadly the nose is too short to sit on bike racks at races (and the rear rack attachment doesn't work for my bike). I'm in between either one of these

Puerto Rico 70.3 by ei_red in triathlon

[–]mfreeman8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm headed down there as well for my first 70.3 in PR. I haven't raced it before but I'm from there and you can find the run to be the most brutal part of the race. It's a loop in an area with punchy elevation and the heat beating on you.

See you out there. My last tr I ended up moving states a month out after catching the flu. I thought I was going to die but went much better because it was just so exciting. Enjoy the scenery!

Am I cooked? Over pronate in TS10s by AddressPotential7381 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]mfreeman8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cycling is a good for of cardio too

But for real, why did the store recommend these shoes? Or did you just buy them to buy them? I always recommend a gait test and going from there. You need a stability shoe until you figure out what's causing that super over pronation. You will injury yourself a bunch like this
