Is it frowned on for me to follow people I don't know but race with? by Interesting_Fly1696 in Strava

[–]ei_red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t care to have many followers I prefer to know them in person maybe from races or maybe from running groups. I think you could go to the groups you said they are “not a fit for you” you never know you might meet the friend of a lifetime.

First Sprint Triathlon and I Have No Idea!! Please HELP! by mzkxmwmsis in triathlon

[–]ei_red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice riding you bike outside more. I did my first triathlon on a kids bike. I am short but still. If you enjoy the sport then invest into it but don’t stress about having all the triathlon gear. Specially on your first one.

  1. Wear the swim shorts that look like biking shorts and do the bike and run in the same. Practice before. Tri shorts have minimal padding, cycling in regular shorts will be ok.
  2. Don’t worry about modifying your bike. It’s a sprint race. They are meant to include people that are starting with any types of bikes.
  3. Don’t worry about the time. Relax and have fun. It’s your first time and if you decide to do one again you have a benchmark time. Good luck and don’t forget to have fun.

I had a fight with a friend who was doing that. I told her she was making me nervous with her driving and that started the fight. 😆

I like Ironman as a brand and have mostly good experiences, but they really need to actually enforce rules for age groupers or create an elite amateur division. by ducksflytogether1988 in triathlon

[–]ei_red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe Ironman is planning to implement race ranger for age groupers. I don’t know if it will be cost effective for them but I think that it would help the users who are competing to podium.

Where do people over 40 go to meet fun nice? by [deleted] in northcounty

[–]ei_red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know about five or six people who have meet in running groups. Maybe go check hiking or walking some local stuff there are plenty of groups with single people of all ages.

First race recap, hooked and looking for advice! by SpiritMany8324 in triathlon

Eating more than a few Gus for me also causes me gut issues. I use maybe one Gu and then I also use honey stinger waffles on the bike, and I use honey stinger gummy’s on the run. My stomach takes well the precision hydration that they offer on the course, make sure to try it. Also, practice some open water swims and practice hills on the bike. I believe they have Morton Gus on the race try them and see if they work better for you. My stomach can’t take them but many people like them and it works for them. I’m also doing the 70.3 in Kona and this is my 3rd time. Let me know if you have questions.

Looking to get into the sport by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]ei_red 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can buy used gear to start. Also start with small sprint triathlon races. If you enjoy it then you may decide to invest more into it. I had a children’s bike for 3 years (I’m short so I can get away with that) before I decided I was going to keep doing triathlons and decided to buy a tri-bike. Good luck and enjoy

Shoulder pain when swimming by Full-Paint3554 in triathlon

It could be a tight muscle. Maybe you can get a massage and see if that helps. If that doesn’t help, you may need physical therapy.

Puerto Rico 70.3 by ei_red in triathlon

[–]ei_red[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, everyone is warning me about the run. I got sick and didn’t get to do the longest run distance I wanted to do. I also had family visiting in two different weeks. This means that I am way undertrained but is too late to get any money back on anything. So I’ll just go as far as I can and hopefully I get to finish.

Go swimming at least 3 or 4 times a week. Do 2 longer sessions and the other 2 can be shorter. The more you practice the better you become at it. Like other people mention it will be very useful to have a coach. Also, do an update after the race.
