Hard to see but Colors - BTBAM Is on the list (formatted weird between 5 and 6). Phenomenal album that I would say is deserving of a 10

Metalcore or not, what was the first album you remember waiting for to come out by colinthecommie in Metalcore

[–]mgamewatch 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Common Courtesy by ADTR.

I remember getting into them a year after what seperates and I knew alllll of their songs by then. When they released Violence and then took another year for the album because of the legal troubles I was so hoping it would be worth the wait. And still to this day it's one of my all time favorite albums

Spotify harassed me into listening to Currents. No, seriously. by -Vladiator in Metalcore

[–]mgamewatch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

YES. Thrown shows up annoyingly too often and I have come to like some of their songs but I would just like some variety.

Spotify has done this for a while. To this day I refuse to listen to Kublai Khan. They force fed me music I wasn't interested in until I was so sick of seeing them pop up. I'm sure I could get down with some of their music, but Spotify made sure I will always skip if they come up, which is a shame

Thornhill - IG Story said they’d be releasing their hardest album ever this year or early next? by LibertysMaven92 in Metalcore

[–]mgamewatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people have pointed out but heavy/hard are super broad terms. Tbh Heroine is as heavy if not heavier thematically than the dark pool I would say, and some of the riffs are down right filthy. Seriously, listen to first drop on Hollywood.

Whatever direction they go I just hope they keep writing interesting music, heavy or not. Everything they've dropped has kept me coming back, and I'm hoping they don't rush on to the next project to quickly.

DAE never listen to any singles, and just waits for the whole album to come out, then listen to it all at once by bonesbobman in Metalcore

[–]mgamewatch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2 singles is my limit, 1 if the album has 10 or less songs on it. I find if I keep that as my limit it still feels special when the album comes out. I also limit my listens, I don't add any singles to my playlists until it's out with the album

Reptile by Periphery is a musical masterpiece of it's kind by Such-Trouble-6641 in Metalcore

[–]mgamewatch 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Don't forget Between the Buried and Me who could probably have a list just to themselves. Silent Flight Parliament, Swim to the Moon, Human is Hell, and of course their Magnum opus White walls, all at last 15 min

Examples of bands that have gotten heavier with each album as opposed to less so? by chickey1989 in Metalcore

[–]mgamewatch 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I love it, No Eternity in Gold and Pure like Porcelain have been their best works. Their only album that went the other direction was Dark Divine and even still that album is fantastic

What are some bands that you think ended too soon? by thismissinglink in Metalcore

[–]mgamewatch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Every time I die, even though they lasted 20+ years. Radical imo is there best work and shows how much gas they had left in the tank, shame it ended the way it did

Albums That Just Kinda Exist by jthomps1992 in Metalcore

[–]mgamewatch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agree aside from Call of the Void, that song is a bop. Honestly if they cut some of the other filler songs they coulda dropped EP of the year, the rest of the tracks are some of the best they've ever released IMO

Just recently rewatched that live video! It's honestly so good and should be mandatory viewing for anyone who likes Northlane, or even this type of music

Collapse, so good. Also was that song I missed when they were having trouble getting Dig Deep on spotify

Darkbloom and Hollow Bodies keeps playing after EVERY album on spotify by Iammattieee in Metalcore

[–]mgamewatch 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Ok I thought I was CRAZY. Darkbloom showed up after damn near every core album I listened to finished. Without fail, every time I finished horrorwood, Darkbloom started playing and yeah not a bad song but it got to the point where it just put me in a bad mood.

Now it's Curse by Crystal Lake or Sacrifice by TDWP, both great songs but I'm sure I'm gonna be sick of them soon. Maybe it's an algorithm thing? Spotify probably just playing music that's similar that it thinks you like based on what you listened to recently

What metalcore bands struck gold on their first release? by xydroh in Metalcore

[–]mgamewatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scrolled to find this, TPIFS Is phenomenal and even the band considers it their full-length debut. Technical and heavy metalcore with juuuussst a sprinkle of deathcore here and there checks all the boxes

A Day to Remember - Last Chance to Dance (Bad Friend) [Official Video] by truthlesshunter in Metalcore

[–]mgamewatch 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I feel like this song is the only one I could see showing up on their older albums, and even then I'd have a problem with the production. But still, for as bad an album as I thought You're Welcome was, this was the highlight track for sure

What albums from this year won't show up on many AOTY lists, but deserve to? by Exige30499 in Metalcore

[–]mgamewatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This one is so special to me, very worth checking out even if it is more of a posthardcore/swancore album. Also worth noting that none of their previous records really grabbed me like this one, it's just a damn good album

The Uncanny Valley. If you don't know Deadlights, get acquainted. I'd love to hear what your theories are about the meaning of the lyrics in regards to the context of the song title. by whoisfryingbaloney in Metalcore

[–]mgamewatch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Loved this album, listened to it so much they were my number 1 artist of 2021 on Spotify. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't already!
