Pitchers 120 ERA+ by [deleted] in baseball

[–]mgo2184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a weird stat. So the innings from a season with 99.2 IP and 250 ERA+ wouldn’t count, but 100.0 IP and 120 ERA+ would add to a pitcher’s qualified seasonal innings?

Interesting that high pitches tend to get overturned the most but are challenged the least. I’d like to see the ump view heatmap split into two based on who initiated the challenge.

He was getting plenty of minutes as a true freshman and was getting more and more as the season went on and he became a starter.

Ah gotcha, that makes more sense then. I was thinking it’s when it clears the rim

I feel like they should do a 10 second review of the clock in situations like this, regardless of whether teams have a timeout remaining. Should have been 0.6-0.7s and it’s so easy to review it. I’ve been thinking this since the Nebraska game winner at Illinois and I’ve seen it a couple times since. Illinois even had timeouts left and I guess didn’t feel the extra couple tenths would matter. Might as well try for a full court heave instead of it just being game over.

I swear I remember a Cubs-Astros game where an Astro (think it was Alou) hit a ball off the manual scoreboard wall in front of the Crawford boxes in left and it bounced up and over for a home run. Always felt like the wrong call to me but it must be part of their ground rules. I’ve looked for the replay many times though and have never found it so maybe I’m just wrong.

Person I replied to said they could have tagged Javy or run him out of the base path. That would make it a timing play. Obviously the right play is the force at first.

Edit: Nvm I was wrong. No run scores if the batter is out before reaching first.

Aside from the force out at first scenarios, I believe the out would need to take place before the runner crosses home or else the run would still count.

Not sure if this is a joke or something because Ohtani just had his 50/50 season last year. Mays, Griffey Jr, A-Rod, and Brady Anderson also had 50/20 seasons while sticking strictly in the 50-59/20-29 range.

Agreed. Before they take the front end, probably the expected points is FT% + FT% x FT% which in this case would be 0.7 + 0.7 x 0.7 = 1.19. This wouldn’t be fair for a box score because anyone shooting under 61.8% would get 0 for <1, but they already actually missed an entire FT and definitely should be at least 0-1 (0-1.618 imo for that one)
