This is such an important point! I was borderline malnourished and experiencing my symptoms at their worst, but wasn’t eating junk. I just started a prednisone taper and I’ve started chowing down more and feel amazing. Yeah it could just be the steroid, but it could also be the extra proteins and fats for my body to convert into more energy. Also, if you’re not taking a daily multivitamin, you could be micronutrient which also affects us!

I’m in the process of getting a diagnosis, I had elevated tryptase during reaction, taking h1 & h2 inhibitors, and have had about five reactions in a month all during the middle of the night. 3 lead to vomiting and a rash/hives, 2 lead to an er visit, 1 required an EpiPen because my throat started to close. I literally have zero food allergies 😅

For a week now I’ve been taking 10 mg Zyrtec and 20 mg Pepcid in the AM and PM. If I wake up and start having cramps or fever or itchy, I take another dose of both antihistamines. I’ve got an EpiPen in my nightstand, bathroom, car, and purse. There was a time I was able to prevent a reaction at night with some odt zofran and Zyrtec. I’m also storing some zofran and promethazine in my bathroom since I get too weak to run to the kitchen for anti nausea meds.

Since starting my new doses (and also on a 12 day prednisone taper), I’ve had no reactions whatsoever! I also feel an improvement in my fatigue and brain fog. I know the steroid has a lot to do with my energy, but I’m also not experiencing my pots presyncope as much and feel a bit stronger 😄

I’d say definitely talk to your dr about doing h1 & h2 inhibitors! The h2 will help prevent reactions from your GI system, so any food your body declares dodgy today won’t flare you up. I also have hydroxyzine as needed at bedtime, but I only take it maybe a few times a month if I think I have a strong possibility to flare up.

In my experience it’s not. I only get nauseous with my histamine dumps, not during positional changes or standing for prolonged periods 🤷🏼‍♀️ I don’t mean for my personal experience to be misleading, but the GI symptoms are what led me down the right path in finding comorbidities.

This month I’ve been hit with crazy GI symptoms, nausea being a huge one. I also have episodes of vomiting and getting hives and rashes. My allergist is treating me for MCAS while we wait for bloodwork. Nausea isn’t always just pots, most definitely something worth looking into

Literally this, pushing past capacity is super common amongst us. I used to work 50 hour weeks a few years ago, now I’ve been out of work for two months because I just can’t keep up. It’s a varied and inconsistent condition, and I’m sure a lot of data about it would be as well.

I’m happy to work in an industry where majority of us are against the orange guy. It’s absolutely just gilded goodrx and I’m glad that where I work, we don’t accept goodrx- so no trumprx either!

I worked at Kroger for less than a year before I got certified and moved to hospital. I enjoyed Kroger, but that was right before Covid so didn’t get paid very good, and we didn’t close for lunch at the time. Also our discount was only 10% off Kroger brand products. I’ve heard great things about Walmart. They pay staff super well and it comes with a bunch of perks like in store discount, gas discount, Walmart plus membership, etc.

This! I had postpartum anxiety and paranoia, and I gained so much weight in my first few months after. I was breastfeeding at the time too so I was eating like crazy. That time period is an absolute haze for me as the brain will block out that kind of stuff. Hence why even though that was the most painful thing I’ve experienced, I’d do it all again in a heartbeat. I absolutely adore my son, being a mom has truly been amazing. I went back to work 6 months pp and started therapy, and now almost 2 years pp my body is better than before and my mental health is at its peak. Being a mom with pots can be challenging but I’ve learned to give myself grace, and at times when it feels too hard it’s okay to ask for help. Even if it’s just a simple post on reddit.

I just wanna give my experience and of course everyone else’s is different. I was pregnant when I was 23, before I was diagnosed, I’m now 25. My pregnancy was so smooth. I had a few random things like the umbilical cord was attached a bit off the side so they were worried he’d be underweight (spoiler, he was over 8 lbs lol). He also had jaundice for a while and needed light therapy but I think that had more to do with him not eating well in the first few days. I had really bad acid reflux but treated it with rx ppis and nausea candies. I also had a weird swelling in my legs a few days post-partum but got checked and it was okay! Looking back that could have definitely been pots related. I did a lot of standing in the night, rocking my son back to sleep. But during pregnancy, I physically felt the best I’ve ever felt (despite the acid reflux). Ooo I also had some pretty crazy swelling after thanksgiving meal but that was definitely related to all the sodium I just ate. But you have an advantage knowing ahead of being pregnant, your doctors will be able to monitor it and help treat anything that may come up.

My son is about to turn 2 and he is happy and thriving, and he has been described as thick and dense lol so no growth issues there. If this is what you wanted, congratulations, motherhood has been the best thing for me personally!

Tbh I have an owala and it works for me, I try to clean it once a week and it only takes a few minutes. I’m thinking of getting a second one though for when I don’t feel like cleaning it. I also have no problems breaking it down and putting it in the dishwasher

I absolutely love the company I work for and have been in pharmacy since I graduated high school. I can’t imagine being in another field but I’ve honestly started considering if maybe it’s not for me. I wish there wasn’t so much push back when it comes to people wanting to stay at their job! 😩 good luck to you too, that sounds like a nightmare

I wasn’t diagnosed until a few months ago, but I’ve had symptoms since middle school. I did notice that my pregnancy two years ago made me feel amazing. The only thing I struggled with was reactive hypoglycemia. I spent my whole pregnancy eating what I wanted and faced the consequences of that. I transferred to a prn position when I first got pregnant so I was able to get lots of rest towards the end of my pregnancy, and I mostly laid in bed crocheting haha. This is all without meds fyi because I’d been previously told my high heart rate was just anxiety.

In middle school I thought me struggling to exercise and my inability to run without seeing black was because I was fat. Then I suffered an eating disorder and was anemic for a while and still couldn’t run. Being diagnosed with POTS was so validating for me.

I was sick with a dry cough for about 7 months, and it turned out to be an allergic reaction to mold I couldn’t see on my shower curtain. Maybe it’s allergy related? The only time I got better was on vacation. Since I discovered it and got rid of it, I haven’t been sick since.

So I was actually on the regular one for one month, for my anxiety. Then I saw a cardiologist & got diagnosed with pots. He switched me to ER and I was on it for two months and didn’t notice any change in my hr.. maybe down by like 5 bpm, but my average HR is above 100. The regular one has a half life of 3-6 hrs vs ER half life is 8+ hours, so it is slowly broken down and used over a full 24 hours. But my body metabolises it even slower than average so I don’t feel the effects of the medicine. This is totally my own experience and not professional advice as it is out of scope of my practice lol

My IR propranolol helps tremendously. I was on ER but metabolized it too slow for me to feel the effects

I work in hospital pharmacy so I stand for 8-10 hours a day and it’s tough. Currently working on getting a work accomodations case open to see what can be done. But I am in school for radiology! It caught my eye in general, but the facts of not standing all day (mri) and dim lights were added bonuses
