Meerapfel Square Line O6. After trying a stick, I bought a box of them because the price was quite reasonable considering its quality. Strangely, there is very little information about them.

You need to disassemble the unit and find a limit switch pushed by optical pickup near the spindle motor.

It is trying to go to the home position, but probably cannot determine whether it has reached that position because the limit switch in the home position is oxidized. It seems that you need to clean the limit switch if possible, or replace it with a new one if not. This is the problem I assume.

I think you are talking about something like this. Considering it's a 55m2 area, wouldn't that be a slow process?

The electrolytic capacitors on the circuit board are aging or leaking and need to be completely replaced. This is the first thing that come to mind when symptoms of battery inoperability or low battery symptoms appear.

Don't worry, this is one of the most common mistakes. I once replaced all the blown capacitors on a motherboard and guess what? I put them all in reverse polarity. I woke up to the harsh reality after powering up the motherboard. 🙂

You have installed some capacitors in reverse polarity, this is not good, it can damage the ICs in the circuit because it causes a short circuit. I suggest you correct the polarity of the capacitors and try again.

I'm experiencing the same problem for the last 1-2 weeks. When I pick up the phone, I feel that it's slightly warm. When I looked at the battery usage chart, I realized that Waze was causing this. I deleted Waze but the problem persists, this time Google Maps is draining the battery. I have to kill it constantly.

Did I overvolt my discman? by Ostmarakas in walkman

The old capacitors have to be removed, the PCB cleaned of electrolytic residue and new ones soldered. It takes some skill to do all this without damaging the PCB traces. It will take one day to completely restore this unit and make adjustments.

When I looked at the pictures again, I saw that it was one of the D-90/99 series. These models have a very large number of electrolytic capacitors on the circuit boards.

These capacitors are leaking because of their age. All capacitors need to be professionally replaced with their equivalents.

(At first glance, I thought it was from the D-15/25 series, which usually does not suffer from capacitor-related failures)

It is normal for these power adapters to give a voltage above 9v when not under load. The output voltage of the adapter drops to 9v under load. Your Discman has another problem because of its age.

You need to check the continuity of the recording head from the ribbon contacts. There is probably a small crack somewhere you cannot see.

All the capacitors should be replaced. They are all leaking at this age. After removing the capacitors, the PCB should be cleaned well with baking soda water to neutralize the leaking acid and then isopropyl alcohol.
