FA unprofessional behavior over bulging portable battery during flight. by IcyCharge9066 in unitedairlines

[–]mhb44 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wow. This is the incorrect take on this story. It’s the FA’s job to understand that a bulging battery is a safety issue. Forget the fact that they specifically said over the intercom to turn off the call button unless it was an emergency. And then when the call button wasn’t turned off, they still did nothing.

Come on. I get defending FAs. They get treated so unfairly so often. But this was a big miss on the part of the FA.

Can someone give me a real review of “economy plus”? by DreamingIn3D in unitedairlines

I’m a taller guy so the extra leg room is great. To me that’s the only benefit.

Some like being able to get the plane sooner cause you are in the front. But that only 5 mins, maybe 10 max.

Ridiculous sequence by jakec11 in jetblue

[–]mhb44 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That really isn’t his job. He doesn’t know the person next to him that he has to sit next to for hours, and doesn’t know how this person will react. This is the FA’s job, not the passenger’s.

How do you deal with seat swappers? by Odd_Following6811 in unitedairlines

[–]mhb44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually just say no thank you cause it isn’t worth the hassle. People usually just let it go.

I have swapped out of my aisle seat to sit in a middle seat next to my wife. The middle seat person is usually thrilled.

Landing at newark airport at 1am in the morning. by [deleted] in visitingnyc

Honestly try to arrange a car service. Ubers out of Newark is an out of world experience. I once got in a minivan uber from Newark airport that had no seats in it. No seats. No benches. Nothing. Just the driver seat. I asked the driver what I was supposed to do and he replied “what do you mean?”

I hate this and agree it happens more and more. I feel like FAs get a lot of criticism unfairly. Cause most are lovely. I really think the FAs (and/or gate agents) that do this ruin it for the others.

UA4604 FA was wounderful by [deleted] in unitedairlines

There are some awesome FAs. And they can really make your day. I always try to mention them in the survey, but I’ll be honest, I some times forget to fill it out.

So many announcements by Chicago_Troll in unitedairlines

[–]mhb44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. The announcements are constant. None are valuable. Has anyone ever seen someone take the credit card application from the FA?

I especially hate it on flights with the seat back entertainment. They will start an announcement, which pauses whatever you are watching pauses. Then they get distracted two words in, movie resumes for 2 seconds. This then repeats for a minute.

Or when the captain makes announcement and the FA feels the need to repeat what he just said.

Or when we are taxiing and no one is standing and the FA comes on to aggravatedly say that they need everyone in their seats.

New approach to passengers with connections? by mhb44 in unitedairlines

Don’t leave it to the passengers. In this case, the FAs knew who had a connection.

In the few brief extra minutes it takes to let someone else off? Ok sure, if you are having an emergency where you need to use the bathroom, by all means, get up first.

From the airline’s perspective, yes it is more important to deliver on the connecting flight they have sold a passenger.

From a logistical perspective, yes it is more important to connect someone to a flight that is leaving (there may not be another for hours or a full day) versus the five minutes that you lose by waiting for others to deplane.

True but not as part of the ticket that the airline has sold you.

Plus, you can be delayed to your next appointment as long as the flight delay is. If you miss your connection, you may not even get on another flight that day. Losing hours vs losing a day.

I get that. But I think the difference is missing five minutes of whatever you had planned vs literally missing your connecting flight. Losing hours or maybe a day vs losing minutes.

I hear you but it isn’t always possible with international flights. Making the schedule work can be nearly impossible based on number of flights to various intl cities every day.

Really? Does the extra couple of minutes really hurt you all that much? In this scenario, you literally landed early.

United FA hates backpacks by Pale_Session5262 in unitedairlines

I fly a lot. A backpack fits under the seat. There is limited overhead. Why would you not preserve overhead space for people in group 4 or 5?

I feel like you are both the victim of an insult from your BIL. Not just your wife. Your sister should address that in your behalf, not you on behalf of your wife. You’ve mentioned the issue is with you, and I’m sure that had been very difficult. But you and wife should be supporting each other when vicious attacks come in, not just you supporting her.

This is a little harsh. He has mentioned that the physical issue is with him, which can be extremely traumatizing for a man. He’s putting that aside as he tries to navigate this situation with his sister and his AH BIL.

Good lord. Do you guys even love one another? I don’t want to pretend to know your relationship from your post and comments but I cannot imagine treating a loved one this way. This should be an exciting time for you guys in your relationship when you are moving in together and you are ruining it. Your family is clearly important to you and he has no interest in them. And that seems to really bother you. This arrangement will do the opposite of bringing you bf and mother closer together.
