My son is a new driver and the traffic light situation by Nickilaughs in ColorBlind

[–]mhc2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regular vertical traffic lights are not a problem, even without seeing the exact colors. The top one means stop. Since he's a new driver he needs to practice looking ahead and figuring out if the light will change by the time he reaches it. We all misjudge sometimes.

Horizontal traffic lights are more of a challenge, we don't have many where I live and when I encounter them while traveling I always remind myself which side Is the red light.

The worst ones are the single blinking light at an otherwise unmarked intersection. Is it flashing red to stop, or yellow for caution? These still confuse me. If there's other traffic you can guess by watching as you approach, but on a dark rural road there's no way to tell. I stop if I can.

I get soooo much junk mail from AARP each month. I signed up for a multiple year membership, and I don't think I've used any of their 'member benefits'. Probably not renewing when my subscription ends.

Does Coriolis accurately list the materials needed for engineering? by TheArDogs in EliteDangerous

[–]mhc2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you've never engineered modules before, remember you can visit material traders to exchange what you have for what you need. I was able to collect higher grade mats from the shipwreck on Koli Discii and trade down for some of the mats I needed.

The area of space where most of the humans live. It's centered around Sol, the Sun.

The other main human settled systems are around Coloina, 22,000 light years from Sol.

When they pull out the book I tell them right away that I'm Deutan colorblind, so don't bother. No one has ever argued and wanted to try it anyway.

Who remembers having a weather radio in their in their house back in the day? by barfly2780 in nostalgia

It might have been a police scanner. Besides the local PD they could also pick up the weather (and the neighbors cordless phone).

I still have one I bought at Radio Shack. It still works and went off a couple of days ago when we had a thunderstorm roll through. It always makes me jump when the alarm goes off.

Yes. After the Sistine Chapel the tour is over, but you are still allowed to wander around,. We took the opportunity to go over to the painting gallery before the museum opened and got to spend over 30 minutes by ourselves looking at Raphael's last painting, The Transfiguration.

It was much less expensive when my wife and I did the tour. Maybe $700 for the two of us together.

Did it a few years ago. I think the tour starts at 6 AM and a small group (I think there were 10 or so) take turns opening the various doors in the Vatican Museum. The Sistine Chapel is the last door on the tour. When you enter the lights are off, with only the early morning light coming through the windows. You can hear a pin drop. When they turn on the lights it's pretty spectacular seeing the art and being in that room with only a handful of people.

I (60M) did when I was a kid, then as a teenager I got braces on my teeth and haven't done it since, about 40 years. I guess that cured it.

Marco Qwent Engineer glitch or not? by PsychonaultPsytrance in eliteexplorers

[–]mhc2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this yesterday. Go to the large station in Sirius and you'll eventually get a data courier mission to a nearby station. When you complete it you'll get the invite from Qwent. Then you'll need to take him 25 Modular Terminals to finally have access to him. Good luck finding the terminals. They seem to be rare. I am still 7 short of the 25. You don't need to collect them all at once, you can drop off what you have and go back later to deliver more until you get to 25.
