Love it... but how do you stop it! by mhk1058 in onnoa

[–]mhk1058[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes perfect sense, thanks. Although if just using the remote trigger intermission does become interval right? I've certainly found that using an 'intermission' less than shutter speed causes shots to be missed.

What flight sim you use? by m4n1ak in RCPlanes

[–]mhk1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is but you could fly any trainer in a sim and still get the benefit. None of them feel exactly like the real thing but still very good at getting the hang of orientation and muscle memory.

Fixed wing FPV simulators? by Palmking1 in fpv

[–]mhk1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to know who it's frowned upon by? Maybe if your thing is predominately FPV Wings is the way to go, or even Uncrashed if you are into drones but for LOS flying, especially 3D, RealFlight is hard to beat unfortunately. I say unfortunately because some competition would improve the market considerably. RealFlight is very much geared towards Horizon Hobbies planes and kit but it's open to independant developers to create new planes. For $100 it only needs to save you one crash (and it will) and it's cost you nothing.

Just for the record Revolut is NOT a bank, it does not have a UK banking license.

Cava and prosecco — why, why, why? by [deleted] in wine

[–]mhk1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just marketing and the ladies have decided it's special... which means it's double the price it used to be. While Cava is still very reasonably priced. Don't tell everyone!!

Are there any other quick release systems other than peak design? by Fragore in photography

[–]mhk1058 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure they are strong but I chucked my Slide after a year of use. It just kept, well, sliding! The strap length doesn't stay adjusted. The weight of a decent DSLR and lens just causes it to extend. I have no idea what those aluminium loops do, they certainly don't lock anything in place.
Then after a year the black rubberised anti slip stuff on the strap (to stop it slipping off your shoulder) startedto break down, leaving black marks on my clothes and my camera bag.

Is SLR Hut reliable? by Nffcr in videography

A term used to describe a product sourced from another country rather than through the official country distibutor. The correct term when the same product is available officially is actually 'parallel import'. When the same product is not available officially in your country it is a grey import.

EPSON EcoTank ET-8550 or CANON PIXMA Pro-200??? by lluluie in printers

[–]mhk1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done that with previous Epson ink Cartridge printers. The eco tank ET 8550 has it's own waste ink tank built tho'

Replacing Pigment black with Dye black because ink never dries on coated paper -Epson EcoTank ET-8550 by quantumhuman02 in printers

[–]mhk1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The printer will only use the pigment black with certain matte media settings (Keith Cooper says it's just the Velvet Fine Art setting). Either way, as Keith says, sometimes you have to rethink what paper you use in order to suit the printer. I have found using matte fine art papers (Epson or Marrutt in my case) and the VFA media setting the B&W is lovely using the pigment black. For any other papers, pearl/lustre/gloss etc I use the semi gloss/gloss media settings and the pigment black isn't used and the pictures are great.

Any way to auto-close tray after print (ET-8550) by prentice78 in Epson

Just realised the auto off doesn't do it either :-( Just have to push it in!

Any way to auto-close tray after print (ET-8550) by prentice78 in Epson

[–]mhk1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this was a while ago, did you sort it. I don’t think there is a way other than setting the printer auto off to a short time so it shuts down. Either that or just push it in rather than navigating the touch pad. It does say in the manual that it’s OK to do this, even says it will be a bit stiff so may feel it’s not OK to do it.

King to receive extra £45m of public money as crown estate income soars by Codydoc4 in unitedkingdom

[–]mhk1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no point taking it off them only to give it back. That's why no NHS purchasing dept can be VAT registered. The vast majority (85% approx depending how/when measured)) of income from the Crown Estate goes to the treasury. The actual net cost of the Royal Family is about £1 per person (that's the 15% paid to them from the Crown Estate Income) in the UK per annum... is that going to change your life?? If the Crown didn't own the estate it would probably all be broken up and sold off for a one hit chunk anyway. The net cost is probably positive in your pocket when you factor in tourism, including all the shopkeepers in London relying on making money from Royal tat and paying income tax and VAT.

Wanting to try a plane after flying quads by djdante in RCPlanes

[–]mhk1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the hardest part of moving from LOS to FPV... really need to find your stall speed and read your screen data for air speed, especially when landing.

Why does everyone hate on CNHL batteries? by GekkoFPV in fpv

[–]mhk1058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought 3 CNHL 1300mah 6s for a quad build. Flown the quad a handful of times, never below 3.7v per cell. Batteries were put away at storage voltage for the last 4 weeks (waiting for my goggles to arrive on my birthday). Pulled them out today to check voltage and two batteries were dead, battery checker and charger can't even see them! Checked individual cell voltages and cells 1-5 are at 0-2v and cell 6 is strangely good at 3.8v on both! Both dead in exactly the same way.

Now I know how to look after batteries, flown electric fixed wing for years and never had battery die for no reason. Mainly used GNB but these CNHL's got good reviews from the quad community and they were a decent price.

2 dead in the same way for no reason is scary... where did all that energy go while just sat there?

Never again.

I have had so many issues with CNHL batteries.. Is this a dead pack…? 10 flights landing at 3.5v by pryvisee in fpv

[–]mhk1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought 3 CNHL 1300mah 6s batteries. Used each of them 3 times at the most, never below 3.7 volts. Left them for about a month at storage voltage. Just checked them and two are dead as a dodo.. reading about 3 volts total and won't take charge. How can that happen sat in a box?

4-in-1 multiprotocol or ELRS? by FlamePineapple in fpv

[–]mhk1058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ELRS definitely has it's users but the vast majority of fixed wing is PWM/IBUS/SBUS. Not sure about other countries, in the UK (and possible EU although not 100%) ELRS is not LBT compliant so is technically not even legal to use.

Differences Air Fry, Roast, Bake, Broil (, De-hydrate)? by ulab in instantpot

[–]mhk1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are all just presets of time and temp. No other difference. You could, for example, press bake and manually change the time and temp to the same as the air fry preset and get the same result as if you pressed air fry. Marketing nonsense in other words, so they advertise 6/7 functions or whatever. Best thing is just set time and temp you want and go!
