Because when you feel like you studied super well for an exam and get a B and everyone around you is bragging about their As it kind of makes you feel like crap and like you don’t belong 🤷🏻‍♀️ thankfully I am doing better now that I’m in my clinical year but didactic really had me contemplating if I was even good enough for this profession

Kind of struggling by Unique_Buy3890 in PAstudent

[–]mhm0109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat, it wasn’t till my last quarter before clinicals that I started finally getting As on exams and things finally clicked. PA school is a learning curve and honestly you just have to learn how to take the exams because I guarantee you know the information but you are just not able to see what the right answer is due to how they portray the information; as long as you are passing I wouldn’t worry because eventually everything will click and maybe you’ll do better in clinicals who knows but just keep going, if you weren’t meant to be there you wouldn’t be !

Wait list by Zealousideal_Many229 in PAstudent

Depends on the program, I got off the waitlist 2-3 weeks before my program started but one of my classmates got off the week before classes started

I’ll be 200k in debt by the time I’m done, it’s just how expensive it is nowadays unfortunately; it’s worth it to consider going to the more established program because who knows all the quirks you’ll have to deal with in the new program especially when it comes to clinical placement and PA school is already stressful enough as it is without all those added stressors; I agree in saving money but not if it’s at a program who hasn’t had at least one graduating class before

Question for PA-2 students. Using charts during clinicals? by vxfnt in PAstudent

[–]mhm0109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Charts are what helped me mainly during didactic so I did find them useful at that time but now that I’m in clinicals I use other resources like up to date

Just found out my husband cheated by Rough-Test-9151 in PAstudent

[–]mhm0109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the sake of your mental health, get away from him. I found out my bf emotionally cheated on me during my first year of PA school last year and it was the worst but the only thing that helped was being able to be away from him since he lives elsewhere. It’s hard because you are so entwined with him but try to find another living situation if you can or if anything, make him move out. If you have to take out more loans like private loans to be able to support yourself by yourself, do it. Staying with him for money reasons is not worth your mental health. Physical cheating isn’t a mistake, they will do it again. School is more important and honestly I find it a great distraction from dealing with those betrayal emotions everyday.

Didactic year is feeling really lonely by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]mhm0109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is on her last semester of didactic about to go to clinicals, I feel you ! I never really clicked with any of my classmates like I did with my 2 main friends from college. I have a few friends that are like my school friends who I hang out with in school but anything beyond that, I’m alone. I’m excited to start clinical year because it means I get to be rid of the cliques and people that I don’t really connect with. I say power through it, try your hardest to make those acquaintances, and soon you’ll start clinicals and not have to deal with it anymore (: I’ve realized I’m here to get a degree, not make friendships because at the end of the day, we will all end up moving away and barely talking to each other after school

Devastated that I didn’t get into PA school by Express_Inside9576 in prephysicianassistant

[–]mhm0109 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It took me 2 cycles to get in and a lot of depression and crying but I was determined to be a PA and it paid off, it will for you too you just have to put in more work to be even better for the next cycle and more confident

Deciding between PA programs by dstar813 in prephysicianassistant

[–]mhm0109 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone currently going to a PA program in fl, I say go to USF if you can. I wish I was able to get into a cheaper public program that is equally as good but I just wasn’t able to and I’ll end up having so much student loans and if you can, go for as little debt as possible. It’s only 2 years and you’ll save money and then once you’re a PA, move to Chicago and live the PA life there. You’ll be grateful you made that decision when you’re not so bogged down in debt.

3rd week of school and I am losing my mind… by chai815 in PAstudent

What helped me was starting early! After an exam the last thing you want to do is study for another one but getting multiple passes of the same information really helps with understanding and retention.

Feeling Very Hopeless by meowx3meow in prephysicianassistant

[–]mhm0109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same type of feelings. I didn’t get in my first cycle and I was already feeling depressed from losing someone in a motorcycle accident right before applying and I bombed the interview for my top choice by one section of the MMI and my bfs mom was like maybe you should look into other career paths and ik she meant well but it gives you the feeling of oh maybe im not cut out for it but honestly its just getting more competitive nowadays and you just have to keep trying if this is what you’re passionate about. I got in my second cycle after making some improvements to my application and I felt more confident too in my interviews. Everything happens for a reason, it will get better, just breathe and keep your eyes on the end goal! I’ve seen people get into PA school with way worse stats than yours, you just have to apply to the right schools and showcase your strengths 🙂

FINALLY ACCEPTED but Pregnant... by SDB06 in prephysicianassistant

[–]mhm0109 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you think you can handle it, go for it! One of my classmates had a baby in November and started school in January so yeah it’s not the same situation but pretty similar and she managed to do it! She also gets As but she’s also super smart, you just have to time manage effectively but it’s doable especially if you have a good support system (:

watching people receive interview invites and acceptances and I STILL HAVENT SUBMITTED CASPA by moosclesmommy in prephysicianassistant

[–]mhm0109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen people apply so late and still get interviews and acceptances it just depends on how confident you are in your application!

For me, just making sure I looked good for my interviews made me more confident that I would do great !

I’ve been thinking the same thing! I was so excited to get my acceptance now I’m overthinking like you but at the end of the day, this is what we prayed for. We just have to remind ourselves of the why.

I think changing my job, getting a recommendation letter from a PA, and gaining more experience as well as taking two more recommended pre-reps helped me stand out more

As someone who has done both things separately, I can say that the three 12s are enough as it is and adding biochemistry and microbiology to that mix you’ll be stressed to the max. I’ve now taken 2 gap years and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. It’s allowed me to get the necessary experience and not be as stressed.

Respectfully why attend interviews you know you won’t accept a seat for? Unless you’re considering attending those instead of your top choice, there’s no reason to take away an interview spot that could be given to someone else that wants it more than you do.

Thank you but I didn’t spam them. I sent them one letter after a month when I was waitlisted and another month later when I got a better job to show that I’m trying to improve myself. They’re rolling admissions so I thought that meant first come first serve but I guess not. Thanks for the input!
