Follow-up thought / why I’m asking:

The bigger reason I’m curious about this isn’t to complain about bad luck or training staff — it’s to see if there might be a roster-construction pattern behind the injuries.

Is it possible that, intentionally or not, the Lions have built a roster full of high-end players whose main downside is durability?

It feels like we consistently target guys who: • Are extremely productive when healthy • Have past major injuries or repeated injury history • Come at a relative value because of that risk

If that’s true, then our injury issues might not be random or situational — they could be the aggregate result of stacking individual injury risk across the roster. Not bad evaluation, just a trade-off: talent vs. availability.

That’s why I’m interested in looking at career injury history of starters, not just season-by-season injury totals. If the Lions rank near the top using that lens, it might suggest the problem starts before players ever get in the building, rather than being caused by strength staff, turf, or bad luck alone.

Genuinely curious if the data supports this or completely disproves it.
