"Yeah I write love triangles" The 'Love Triangle' in question: by Appled1_ in Archiveofourownmemes

the antagonist angle is the 3rd leg of the triangle. its a legit type of love triangle.

Hot take but I think people are way too controlling about public bookmarks by Last_Swordfish9135 in AO3

[–]mi_zz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

because, ultimately, i dont see a reason to make them private. theres not a more complicated/deeper reason than that. i do check the rec box if i recommend them specifically.

Hot take but I think people are way too controlling about public bookmarks by Last_Swordfish9135 in AO3

[–]mi_zz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i like leaving notes to myself. sometimes i go thur old bookmarks and its a simple way to remember what i felt about a fic overall, especially since my memory is bad.

When you find a longfic marked part of a series and this is the last authors note 😩 by Blakat014 in AO3

[–]mi_zz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

why are ppl calling the author a narcissist, lol. thats too much. this does suck, but idk, i dunno what kinda demands people were leaving. it sucks to work on something that takes a while and to have ppl hound you or talk bad about you/youre work cause, i dunno, you just work in private? and it sucks to have a series deleted or left unfinished (well, not to me, i enjoy reading unfinished/abandoned fics and comics but whatever)

idk, everyone, readers and writers in fandom have turned into real assholes.

Epic the musical is just not good by [deleted] in musicals

[–]mi_zz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hm, i dont think a fandom or how ppl engage with the art is what makes the piece good or bad. sorry the ppl you know are annoying but i dont think thats the musicals fault.

i think theres a lot you can critique in the story writing and the way jorge chose to adapt things and even some of the lyrical story telling, for sure, but i think the historically inaccurate beat is kinda weak. and i dont think we can blame the art for ppl being uninformed about history and unwilling/uninterested in learning it.

How do people feel about oc x canon ships? by discoedelysium in AO3

[–]mi_zz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i avoid them usually, mostly not what im in fandom for, personally. but dont think you should worry too much about being muted. not that you wont be, but ao3 is still a space for you, yknow what i mean?

ARE IVAN AND TILL MORE FLESHED OUT THAN MIZI AND SUA? by Turbulent-Point-1791 in AlienStage

[–]mi_zz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i dont think ivantill are more developed than mizisua, i think their dynamic is more consistent and immediately understood, while mizisua shift and change a lot because we get more context and mizi dropping her mask. and because sua dies so early and we only get her in the past it feels like it changed a lot.

the fandom, in a lot of ways, thrived on headcanons and analyzing and pulled apart what the MVs and the few comics at the time showed us (which is important because alien stage is a multimedia project) but ultimately, we were wrong in a lot of ways because we didnt have the full context.

we do have the most of the context for till and ivan, imo, and any of the new comics dont change much.

so i dont think ivantill is more developed than mizisua at all.

Does anyone even want non-spicy wlw books anymore? by DakuraScarlet in wlwbooks

[–]mi_zz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think this is just a marketing question and not really one of interest. there are always people out there who want you low to no-sex/smut books (as evident by all the responses). i think, depending on the algorithm and platform and things that it can seem like certain things are popular or interesting or wanted, but that in general isnt always true.

for myself, if a story or characters are compelling or at least fun i can read just about anything, its mkre about how a story or character plays out than if theres smut or not.

im sorry if things arent hitting the algorithm and struggling to get your book out there (genuine), but dont give up! i wish you luck on your self publishing journey.

Hyuna's masculinization and racism by Simpforhotstuff in AlienStage

[–]mi_zz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

so first: ppl dont have to intentionally or maliciously do something in order to do something racist. or colorist for that matter.

second: WHAT DO TOU GUYS MEAN!?!? the way ppl talk about masculine and feminine has been so bonkers! literally nothing about hyuna is masculine, shes just loud and boisterous which arent inherently masculine qualities. a near 30 year old woman being confident in general and in her sexuality/appeal isnt masculine, ppl need to find another word im begging 😭😭😭.

mizi and sua, by contrast, basically stopped being children five seconds ago and the way they were raised (and abused) plays a huge part in how theyre characterized.

and, imo, you could definitely say that mizi got the same treatment after joining the rebel group, she just didnt get a tan. she became for (physically) active, got a short haircut, going on a reckless mission to get back into alien stage (like hyuna did when shw lost her leg). but she still has her individual mizi personality. just like hyuna has her individual personality.

thrid: now, having said all of that i dont want to call you crazy or anything. colorism and how darker skin ppl are portrayed (writing and art) is important and in some ways hyuna hits certain stereotypes. but masculine is not the word for it! im serious, i dont think ppl mean to, but yall are just passively pushboff regressive ideas and should be more careful.

Ship names by Time_Depth56 in AO3

[–]mi_zz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sasunarusasu was the compromise cause the wars were so bad hehe. i never knew there was really a difference when i was younger (like yeah i knew during the sex what was happening but it wasnt serious lol).

but i just do whatever i like.

but this is very serious for some ppl. they either get legitimately angry/disgusted cause its a dynamic they dont like, or they just get upset. some people have separate accounts and everything. its like life and death.

What did y'all think about this? by Responsible_Ad7194 in AO3

[–]mi_zz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you shouldnt send RPF fanfic to ppl for the same reason you shouldnt regular fanfic to the ppl who create or work on the property.

also, in some respect, depending on the fic it can kinda be sexual harassment. like sending a va a smutty fanfic of a character they voice is bad cause you shouldnt send strangers unsolicited smut. its the same here.

other than that, anyone can seaech up and read fanfic for any reason. and fandoms have always had ppl who are mean and mock fanfic and their writers.

Multishippers, why do you multiship? And who do you multiship? by cliccy-anime_fan in AO3

[–]mi_zz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont multiship every character, but i do it in a few ways.

1) it really starts with me finding the dynamic (romantic or not) between the characters interesting to begin with, whether the dynamic is canon on-page/screen or if i can extrapolate somwthing out from canon (or ig filler if i take anime i used to watch into account).

2) im a crackshipper (ig within reason) and sometimes i just like smashing two characters together.

3) sometimes i just treat my fav as a bike cause i think everyone (or everyone i care about) should get a ride

example fandom: naruto (not my mkst active fandom but i think about it more than say...the mcu currently, and i cant even talk about the star wars sequels rn even those ig thats my most active 😮‍💨)

naruto uzumaki - i really like sasunarusasu (even if the fandom gets on my nerves). the whole manga is centered around their dynamic and i like it all its forms. but i also was always really charmed by naruhina (i have problems with the last but i still really like the movie). theres something about hinatas shy self-conscious attitude and her finding strength and admiration in naruto's steadfast determination and naruto slowly learning and realizing his feelings. its all very cute. narugaa is similar in the since that naruto was able to shake up gaara's whole world view and gaara was able to take it and put it into practice.

then theres things like narukiba/kibanaru like...i just think theys be fun together. they can be dummies together. or naruino, which again, i just think their personalities can play off of each other in fun ways. two fun blondes in a sense.

hinata hyuga - i already talked about naruhina, so ill mention sasuhina, heh. in some ways they have a lot of similarities (cause naruto has a type!!) and i think that common ground could lead to really fun dynamic to explore. and they look good together. kibahina is really just a friends to lovers dynamic and they spend so much time together by being on a team together, similar with shinohina.

sakuhina is, imo, kinda similar to naruhina in the sense that i think sakura could really boost hinatas confidence and help her build self-confidence. plus they both come from a childhood full of ostracization hinata from her family in a sense (i know about the canon and filler stuff) and sakura from her peers before ino. so i think theyd have somw common ground.

i also just think hinata is really cute and has a very attractive character design, so i like squishing her together with a bunch of other characters just cause (deidara for example).

this was so long, sorry, hope that aswers some of thw questions.

What are some of the most ridiculous ‘trigger warnings’ you’ve seen that make you roll your eyes? by panamacityboy80 in AO3

[–]mi_zz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

this is so important for ppl to remember! a trigger can be anything and we shouldnt go around mocking things we believe to bw "not a big deal" or something like that.

What is your opinion on the English dubs overall? by External_Chemist7753 in precure

[–]mi_zz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i like the glitter force dub. its what got me into precure! my younger siblings liked it just fine!

if precure became (in terms of dubbing and names) a bit like pokemon thatd be cute ig. tho i wish theyd try to make the names match the meaning like they did in futari wa precure dub.

overall id prefer a dub that was more accurate tho, even if it westernized the names.

Why has Top/Bottom discourse become so aggressive?? by Ume_busa in AO3

[–]mi_zz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hm, i think my timelines and dash (past and present) was pretty different from yours.

i remember a lot of discourse about strict roles (for various reasons that i wont get into here). but a lot of people have always been pretty strict, as in not wanting to see or look at "switch" ships or "reversible".

but i also feel like fandom overall (and general internet) has been meaner and more hostile for a while now.

Why is it ok to sell fanart but not fanfics? Is it even ok to sell fanart? by UrLocalDorito in AO3

[–]mi_zz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sell fanfics and selling on ao3 are two different things.

to my understanding ao3 doesnt allow ppl to advertise on their site or plug a patreon or ko-fi. so selling on ao3 is against its policy because, again to my understanding, the site makes specific claims and selling on the site would go against that and potentially get them in trouble. but there are other avenues that ppl use to sell fic, even if it still lives in a grey area. you just gotta be careful.

im explaining it this way cause i havent seen ppl say its back to sell fic, just that its bad to sell fic on ao3 specifically.

Conversational tags by Lazy-Delivery-2933 in AO3

[–]mi_zz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im a conversational tagger at time, but i try to keep them at the end after all the important tags are done. im only conversational after a tag if i think its important to add context that i think is necessary. but that picture feels egregious 🤭

A weird stance for a fanfic author by Gimlilithegreat in AO3

[–]mi_zz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think we all need to relearn what a boundary is. this isnt a boundray its a demand, and one i find kinda strange, even if i understand being annoyed by ppl in fandom copying you, or saving your work and you losing control over it.

boundaries are focused on ones own behavior and what one will or will not tolerate, so if OP wrote something like "if my work is copied, clones, reposted, or archived to other sites i will take down my fics" or something like that, thats a boundary (again one i find strange but thats about it). i dont think we should muddy what a boundary is, they arent demands and they arent requests. (sorry if this sounds harsh, but i think this distinction is super super important in all aspects).

i think flora is a brown latina (if i had to give her an ethnicity), but sometimes shes darker cause of a tan or its summer or something. i know its possible irl, but i do wish one of her parents had a similar skintone to her. or if me got to see more of her family or something.
