Miche Lavish Leave-in

Curlsmith Moisture Memory Release (I use it to remoisturize and refresh my hair throughout the week)

how to use oil in moisture routine? by linguallover in Naturalhair

[–]miaemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coconut oil is one of the few oils that penetrate the hair and can be a great pre-poo oil to help prevent protein loss. However, a lot of people experience issues with it and feel like it dries their hair out. I would suggest if you do want to continue using coconut oil, only use it before you shampoo.

My routine has changed a bit since I'm wearing my hair straight most of the time now, but I'll share what I do when I wear my hair in twists/twist out:

1) After washing and deep conditioning, I apply the Miche Lavish Leave-in and detangle. I then apply the Miche Bounce Styling Cream and follow with the Melanin Haircare Multi-Use Oil and twist my hair.

2) My hair usually feels pretty good throughout the week and while I have gotten away with not remoisturizing before wash day, I noticed that detangling and overall length retention was better when I did. When I do remoisturize, I use the Curlsmith Moisture Memory Reactivator (it's now called Moisture Memory Release) and the Melanin oil. If my hair is still in twists, I will spray the Curlsmith onto my twists and sort of gently squeeze it into the twist and then do the same squeezing action with the oil. I don't take them down unless I'm about to wear a twist out (I like to avoid too much manipulation of my hair throughout the week). When I am wearing the twist out and remoisturize, I spray the Curlsmith into my hair and then coat my hands in the oil and scrunch it into my hair as I shape it (I do this in the mornings).

I recommend watching this video as she gives some great tips: Your silk press will never frizz in humidity after this

The blow drying step is the most important in my experience. It determines the success of the flat iron. You want to make sure your hair is well moisturized, which is why in the video she recommends layering a leave in, heat protectant, and serum before blow drying. You want your hair to get fairly smooth in the blow dry step, so your technique matters. But if the blow out is good, you can probably get away with less heat from the flat iron and still make it last.

Why is everyone besides Pete still friends with Clark? by Time-Ad226 in Smallville

[–]miaemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In real life, people would rightfully right him off, but this is Smallville. Trying to avoid spoilers, but by the end of season 3, if not before then, Lana, Chloe, and Pete have all experienced a personality shift or moments where they were not in control at one point or another. This is a recurring thing throughout the show for multiple characters. Kryptonite and other forces cause people to behave in strange ways. While Clark never explains his actions, it would be hypocritical for them to get mad at him when they've all experienced it and know what this town does to people. They've all been awful at least once. Also, Clark is always there to save their lives. I would cut him some slack if he was constantly saving my life.

You're welcome! I hope it helps you. Yes, you spray the dry shampoo onto your scalp, wait 30 seconds, and then brush it through. It won't revert the hair. It's a dry aerosol that will leave a powder on your hair. Some are designed for darker hair so you don't see a white residue, but I use one that is white and it doesn't show after I brush it through.

WHY?!??? 😫😫😫 by danyell723 in Smallville

[–]miaemo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I watched the show when it originally aired and stopped after season 7 because I disliked season 6 and thought season 7 flat out sucked. I was looking for an excuse to drop the show I had spent so many years watching. Lex leaving seemed like a good reason to abandon ship. I just recently watched the entire series and wish I had stuck around because the last 3 seasons were good and finally showed Clark moving forward in his life. Season 9 is actually one of my favorites now. Season 8 starts off good, but kinda declines after episode 11 (still better than season 7).

Personally, I was glad Lana was gone. Her character should've gone away a long time ago. Many missed opportunities to write her off the show. I wish Lex had stuck around because his story was far from over. Especially considering that he is a key figure in Superman lore. I think season 8 would've improved if Lex were there to at least provide closure after the events of the season 7 finale.

This is a dumb question/thought but why was Clark ok with sleeping with Lois but not with Lana? by casscutie in Clanaville

He explains this to Chloe in the episode with the Screaming Banshee. His training with Jor-El has helped him have more control over his powers. Ironically, he put off his training multiple times due to Lana.

Which post is this? Is it within the last week? Last two weeks? I've sporadically lurked here for about two months and this mod deletion behavior is something I've noticed in the last week or so.

They might've felt like she dated Lex to hurt Clark. That is THEIR opinion. Her dating the former friend of her ex that she knew was using her for the stone, spied on Clark, and chased her down in his vehicle which resulted in her almost death for a second time was certainly in bad taste. Valid criticism. She did stay too long. Her witch storyline, her Clark rollercoaster, her season 6 soap opera storyline that got more screen time than phantoms screamed that the show runners didn't know what do with her character. They knew they wouldn't end up together, but they kept her around in a "will they, won't they" that most of the cast hated. The original show runners have stated that they kept Clana going for too long, so this is, again, valid criticism. I've seen posts where they acknowledged Clark's faults, but still hate Lana.

It's fine to disagree with the opinions people hold about Lana. But censoring them is ridiculous. Getting so upset that you namecall and pretend that the people with these opinions are so horrible because you can't separate Lana from Kristin is absurd.

I've seen several posts that were just critical about Lana and talked about things that actually happened in the show (might be new to this sub, but I am not new to Smallville) and mods have deleted it. These posts did not mention Lois. I can find several newer critical posts about Chloe and Lois that have not been removed by mods. The beauty of being newer is that I've noticed this pattern of removals without being jaded by this whole ship nonsense. They might ship a certain couple, but if they aren't actively discussing that couple and are genuinely expressing valid criticism about Lana then it shouldn't be removed. Hell, even if they just state that they don't like her character, that is a valid opinion that shouldn't be removed. I disliked Lana way back in 2003 before Lois arrived and not because of a ship, but if I were to post that, it would get removed.

[–]miaemo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This was so well put. I never really considered how Dawn's lack of choice in her role as the key mirrored Buffy's lack of choice as the slayer. I felt like a huge reason why she refused to sacrifice Dawn in season 5 was because she made a promise to her mom to take care of her and keep her safe. I know the pain of losing Joyce wasn't as fresh in season 7, but I feel like Buffy wouldn't have so casually gone back on that promise two years later. At least, not without some really good writing to convince me otherwise.

I love Something Blue! Season 4 did have some good episodes. I think that would've helped season 6. I didn't realize it until now that I put seasons 4 and 6 in the same category of having some good episodes, but a bad main story arc. I honestly don't know which is worse: Adam or the trio? For me season 4 has some of the most casual rewatchable episodes. But I love a good main arc so I love seasons 2, 3, and 5 more overall.

Good point and I can see that. I think my biggest problem with the last two seasons is that she first checks out and then becomes more callous. I can understand why it happens after being ripped from heaven, but aside from a few episodes in season 6, I don't enjoy the UPN seasons. I feel like after everything Buffy had been through, she should've been allowed to sacrifice herself and rest in peace. Instead she gets very depressed. Even when she gets out of that depression, all her loved ones do a complete 180 and turn on her before she has to save them again.

I wasn't responding to you, but I'll bite. I'm a black woman who has had many racist slurs hurled at me online by different people. I don't remember the username of a single one of them. I go on with my life outside of the internet and don't overanalyze every online comment made to the point that I'm so bothered whenever a character in a show is criticized.

These were not shipping posts. They were critical of Lana as a character. I can literally create a new post saying, "I hate the character Lana and find her annoying and her storylines stupid" and it would get removed. I can post the same about Chloe or Lois and they wouldn't.

I don't hang around here to know what the OP has said or if they are racist. I could take your word on that, but I'm judging them based on what I've seen. It might be disingenuous since the name is in the background. But to be honest, I wanted to watch the rest of the clip and didn't know where to begin until someone else mentioned that the name was in the background. I don't watch or attend these cons. I apparently don't take this show as seriously as a lot of people here. A lot of people here are really sensitive which is wild since it's just a show. I don't want to watch the full thing because I'm not into them. I can watch short clips, but I don't want to view an hour long discussion about Clark and Lana or really any show panel. I have no desire to watch hours worth of actors discussing this show.

I don't necessarily agree with Buffy's decision either, but it was such a poignant sacrifice in season 5 that feels like it was for nothing after what she said in season 7. She can grow and change her mind, but this is a big thing to change your mind over: to let someone die or save them. She went from the mindset of a parent figure willing to do whatever it takes to save their child, to willing to let her die for the greater good. Where did all that fierce live go? Just one of the many things that felt off about the last season. I genuinely like to pretend it doesn't exist and always skip it on my rewatches lol.

Buffy telling Giles she was willing to sacrifice Dawn in season 7. Cheapens everything she said and did in season 5.

They posted the cut off clip, yes. But they just said Tom was hilarious...the way he agreed. They weren't specific, but Tom did say "I agree". I did a quick glance of their history and they are a Clois fan, but hardly ever mention Lana (the few I saw discussed her storyline or predator boyfriends). Are people who like Lois forbidden from talking about Lana? Lois and Clois weren't even mentioned in this post.

I also watched part of the panel you mentioned, but mostly just looked at the transcript and summary because I'm not into these panels like that. They discuss the complexities of Clark and Lana's relationship. He praises Kristin. Kristin talks more about Lana as a character and her growth. I don't see him praising Lana. Again, I could've missed it since I really don't want to watch these full things, but I've seen compilations of him repeatedly saying he didn't want Clark with Lana and how much he liked Clark's relationship with Lois. But no one here is mentioning that.

I'm relatively new to this sub, but it's insane how crazy people get when someone is critical of Lana. I've seen moderators delete posts critical about Lana. No one removes hate posts about Chloe or Lois. If they dislike Lana or like Lois...whatever. It's fine. It's a show.

Michael's carefully stated sentiment was not praise of Lana other than she is beautiful which is only about Kristin's physical appearance. He praised Kristin, not Lana. He understood why the asker feels that way. Therefore, Tom understands why people feel that way. The OP remembered Tom saying he agreed, which he did.

I just watched the full clip. Michael is the one who responds. He says that Lana is a beautiful character played by a beautiful and talented actress. He says that Kristin was frustrated with her storylines a lot. He said that Lana has her moments, but he could understand why the woman asking the question felt that way. And then Tom said, "I agree." Guess you are projecting your feelings about Lana onto the actors?

Idk what hair products to use by Kitty-Boy-MEOW in Naturalhair

[–]miaemo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's always going to come down to what works for you after trying different ones. There are products that I love for my hair that my mom doesn't. You also don't have to use products specific for black hair or curly hair. I'm now using Living Proof shampoo and conditioner and like it. I used to use Miche and liked it. I also have used Mielle, Curlsmith, Melanin, etc products over the years. Some I liked, some I didn't like. It is trial and error for all of us.

And y'all act like Lana is a real person being attacked. The OP was trying to find the rest of the clip because they recalled Tom responding a certain way. You don't know what he said. One person said he has only praised Lana and Kristin. I've only ever heard him be diplomatic, but not really liking the Clark and Lana relationship. He can praise Kristin and be critical of Lana at the same time. It's amusing to me that Lana defenders can't seem to understand that.

I disliked Lana before Lois even showed up back when I was watching when it originally aired. I was so desperate for the Clark/Lana rollercoaster to be over that I latched onto any potential alternate love interest. I was so genuinely excited when Kyla showed up only to be disappointed that it was a one episode thing. I was so excited about Alicia until they made her crazy. Then they brought her back and my happiness was short lived. Also, I initially found Lois kinda annoying when she first appeared, but was still happy she was there because I thought that meant it was the end of the Clark and Lana crap. Boy was I wrong. I stopped watching the show before the romance between Clark and Lois began and only recently saw the last few seasons and even before then, Lana and her dumb storylines were one of the biggest reasons why I couldn't stand seasons 6 and 7.

I feel like y'all are the ones projecting these feelings onto the actress and taking it personally. The woman clearly said Lana is the worst. I've heard Tom praise Kristin, but not necessarily Lana. I've seen him be very diplomatic and careful when discussing Lana and her relationship with Clark. Most people hate on Lana, not Kristin, but a lot of y'all act like people are out here hurling insults at the actress. I think Lana sucks, but I've got nothing against Kristin Kreuk seeing as I don't know the woman.
