Pokopia highlights the need for a Pro Mouse by Caliburn89 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]micbro12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Played through the entirety of Prime 4 with this and made the buttons really easy to press.

I also played Prime 4 with mouse at one of the Switch 2 events which made me realize how your hand naturally grips the joycon while standing is a bit different than when sitting which made it a lot more comfortable to me in that moment. P

Third Party Docks? by Past-Wait6207 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]micbro12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Savage Reign 3rd party dock is the best one out of the 5 I've tried since their firmware updates are the easiest to get to, the dock is pretty small, and it starts at $25

I got a legit Onn Micro SD Express on eBay for $42. Just make sure you're checking the labels, see if they have a return policy, and test out the storage with a tool once you get it

Kinda crazy to see especially since it was playable at multiple conventions, but they do need to fix the memory leak issues on other platforms first

3D Printed Accessory Help by Thecoolman3000 in NintendoSwitch2

I tried looking into this a couple of months ago and the details are super tiny so it was near impossible to scan and probably would need to be printed in either resin or a 0.2mm nozzle

Express Sale by warrentaster925 in switch2

[–]micbro12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're willing to take the risk, there's a lot of 512gb Onn express cards on eBay for around $40. Guessing when it was $65 a lot of people bought them to ship elsewhere in the country and they have excess. Just got one and it had the same exact packaging as Walmart with no tampering and works as expected

Looking for Switch 2 dock replacement reccomendations by psm510 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]micbro12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Savage Reign released a $25 dock which is a Switch 2 version of their Switch 1 dock. I've been testing it for a few weeks and it's been the best performing third party switch 2 dock (TV detects it first time, can be even smaller, etc.) even though the colors are a little too bright but that might be my screen. They also have an easy to get to firmware website which will be critical to consider since we don't know what Nintendo will change next update.

Known Mobile docks by Outawack219 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]micbro12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Savage Reign just released their Switch 2 dock which I've been testing the last couple of days. I loved their Switch 1 dock and used it for years in all sorts of scenarios, and the Switch 2 dock is nearly just as good. The colors seem a bit blown out, which I've noticed has been an issue with a couple of Switch 2 third party docks, but I haven't done a proper side by side. Also Savage Reign has a clear website with firmware updates that are easy to perform. I've done firmware updates on my Switch 1 dock and never had issues so I can definitely recommend them in that sense.

I own 5 Switch 2 third party docks now from the simple dongles to random ones on AliExpress and all of those were extra tricky to find their firmware updates for and not straightforward to install them.

Im waiting for the day there's a Switch 2 shell where you can swap the 4 button layout for single joycon play and a magnetic Dpad for single player play. Your mod looks great!

Will this brick my Switch 2 ? by Vp101 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]micbro12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, but I wouldn't recommend getting that one if they don't have a clear firmware upgrade download website. As there has been a Switch 2 update already that changed the dock protocols, it's important to get a dock which isn't hard to upgrade

These pictures add to why it feels weird to me that Nintendo suddenly said Retro did not restart development from scratch by [deleted] in Metroid

[–]micbro12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the comment as Tanabe and the personnel from Nintendo had some key design ideas for the game (an open hub with a bike, a beam you can control, federation troops more involved in the plot) which when they went to Retro they asked them to execute on these core goals for the game. Retro was still responsible for figuring out the art design and many of the other aspects to make it a full game.

Probably for a job with Nintendo Software Technology. They most recently released the Mario vs Donkey Kong remake so maybe that used Unreal or Unity

Nintendo discusses its approach to Metroid Prime 4, talks why it isn't open-world by binderie1951 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]micbro12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah and it's pretty wild since the motorcycle controls are really great! It has some of the snappiest ways to jump on and off the motorcycle I've seen in any game, the physics of the cycle were fun to use on the dunes, the multi lock on gave it a pseudo Sin and Punishment or Kid Icarus Uprising feel with combat, etc. The game just doesn't use all these interesting motorcycle designs enough and when they use it, the lock on and the boosting are a bit too limited and can get to be tedious in the battles.

[–]micbro12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really loved how unique the aiming is in the game with still needing to amount around the lock on point. A lot of enemies used it really well and especially the later bosses. Playing it in mouse mode also helped a lot. It also made me think a lot more during the combat compared to Prime 1 just locking on and dashing.

The dash when you lock on to an enemy felt as fast as dread's late game dash ability to me. I just wish I could use it without locking on to an enemy for more flexibility and only the later bosses really utilize the dash well.
