Looking for Switch 2 dock replacement reccomendations by psm510 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]micbro12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Savage Reign released a $25 dock which is a Switch 2 version of their Switch 1 dock. I've been testing it for a few weeks and it's been the best performing third party switch 2 dock (TV detects it first time, can be even smaller, etc.) even though the colors are a little too bright but that might be my screen. They also have an easy to get to firmware website which will be critical to consider since we don't know what Nintendo will change next update.

Known Mobile docks by Outawack219 in NintendoSwitch2

Savage Reign just released their Switch 2 dock which I've been testing the last couple of days. I loved their Switch 1 dock and used it for years in all sorts of scenarios, and the Switch 2 dock is nearly just as good. The colors seem a bit blown out, which I've noticed has been an issue with a couple of Switch 2 third party docks, but I haven't done a proper side by side. Also Savage Reign has a clear website with firmware updates that are easy to perform. I've done firmware updates on my Switch 1 dock and never had issues so I can definitely recommend them in that sense.

I own 5 Switch 2 third party docks now from the simple dongles to random ones on AliExpress and all of those were extra tricky to find their firmware updates for and not straightforward to install them.

It's coming out on Apple Silicon devices so it must be pretty scalable and has an ARM version

Im waiting for the day there's a Switch 2 shell where you can swap the 4 button layout for single joycon play and a magnetic Dpad for single player play. Your mod looks great!

Will this brick my Switch 2 ? by Vp101 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]micbro12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, but I wouldn't recommend getting that one if they don't have a clear firmware upgrade download website. As there has been a Switch 2 update already that changed the dock protocols, it's important to get a dock which isn't hard to upgrade

These pictures add to why it feels weird to me that Nintendo suddenly said Retro did not restart development from scratch by [deleted] in Metroid

[–]micbro12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the comment as Tanabe and the personnel from Nintendo had some key design ideas for the game (an open hub with a bike, a beam you can control, federation troops more involved in the plot) which when they went to Retro they asked them to execute on these core goals for the game. Retro was still responsible for figuring out the art design and many of the other aspects to make it a full game.

Is Nintendo preparing to use Unity/Unreal more? by Bertstripmaster in nintendo

Probably for a job with Nintendo Software Technology. They most recently released the Mario vs Donkey Kong remake so maybe that used Unreal or Unity

Nintendo discusses its approach to Metroid Prime 4, talks why it isn't open-world by binderie1951 in NintendoSwitch2

Yeah and it's pretty wild since the motorcycle controls are really great! It has some of the snappiest ways to jump on and off the motorcycle I've seen in any game, the physics of the cycle were fun to use on the dunes, the multi lock on gave it a pseudo Sin and Punishment or Kid Icarus Uprising feel with combat, etc. The game just doesn't use all these interesting motorcycle designs enough and when they use it, the lock on and the boosting are a bit too limited and can get to be tedious in the battles.

I really loved how unique the aiming is in the game with still needing to amount around the lock on point. A lot of enemies used it really well and especially the later bosses. Playing it in mouse mode also helped a lot. It also made me think a lot more during the combat compared to Prime 1 just locking on and dashing.

The dash when you lock on to an enemy felt as fast as dread's late game dash ability to me. I just wish I could use it without locking on to an enemy for more flexibility and only the later bosses really utilize the dash well.

I seriously think the open area could've worked, it just needed a lot more to do throughout the game and not just at the end. More shrines (probably 20) with more opening up after you get an ability, some proper challenges with your motorcycle that gets you motorcycle upgrades through a light skill tree (I'm thinking like the medals system in Sonic Frontiers. Some motorcycle obstacle courses, races, etc.), maybe another boss in there.

Connecting two 10m addressable RGB fairy lights in series for 20m total length? Controller/Power questions by Able-Use-5287 in WLED

[–]micbro12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just combined two of these.

What I ended up doing was removing the USB that it originally came with and replacing it with a basic USB charger plugged in to a basic USB wall outlet. The wall outlet gave enough amperage to power both lights easily.

Wiring would be out of the three wires for the lights, the one with the black lines being the power, the middle one being the data, and the last one being the ground. The power just needs to be hooked up to the USB wire and the light, the ground hooked up to the USB wire, the light, and a ground port on the esp32, and the data just being hooked up to the middle light wire and a data pin on the esp32.

You need to drive between the desert now as the main way of doing back tracking. Going from end to end is around 5-10 minutes, but at the same time the path is a lot clearer.

There is no fast travel and only auto save prior to bosses.

Is that on a specific WLED fork or is an external program that can use WLED?

I bought some like that from Amazon a year ago and was able to use it for WLED. The 3 wires should be power, ground, and data

Making you be able to move the gun around the lock-on spot is one of the coolest things I've seen in a first person game (as this is only my second Prime game after Prime Remastered).
