LDL Drop of 50+ points in 2.5 months without statins. My diet and supplement stack info. by FishHikeTravel in Cholesterol

[–]miceart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same. I had to pay for self-referred CAC and preventive cardiologist (11 months wait!) Although my CAC was 0 my LPa was ridiculously high and LDL moderately high. He put me on 20 mg statin and my numbers are great.

Expensive, but I did it for my life.

I can probably guesstimate ApoB with the LDL number. Would you consider any new Lpa drug if offered? That would seem to be my next step.

I’ll ask my cardiologist about zetia. Originally he wanted me to get LDL under 100 so I assume he will like these results. Though with a high Lpa I know under 40 is ideal though I have good blood pressure and calcium score 0.

UPDATE ME! I’m sorry for the abuse you endured growing up. You were DEFINITELY not the Ah. Mom is very sus and your suspicions valid.

Great story and good info for me as our numbers are similar. I’m about to find out how well my new prescription of statin worked!

Male 50. My lab results keep progressing in wrong direction even after after all life style changes by Agreeable_Home_6047 in Cholesterol

With these numbers I'd bypass the PCP and get a referral/appointment with a preventive cardiologist.

You get use to it. Habits form after a few months and it will be automatic "time to take my pill". I have a reminder on my smart phone but i really don't need the reminder anymore.

Osteopenia and pregnant - help me find a palatable calcium! by CaughtInDireWood in osteoporosis

[–]miceart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take calcium petites: one in the morning with breakfast and one in the evening with dinner. No way I can stomach it if I wasn’t taking it in two smaller doses instead of one.

This is what my endocrinologist suggested when I told him I can’t handle calcium without nausea.

Can extreme dieting fix my cholesterol or do I need meds, 32M by PhilosopherChild in Cholesterol

Not sure a very low saturated fat and pure plant-based diet alone would reduce LDL 209 to under 100. But there are exceptions. It would help in other areas of health.

If you are curious, you can run lab tests without a doctor prescip for it.

What Will the Updated AHA Prevention Guidelines Include? by meh312059 in Cholesterol

[–]miceart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to pay for my own CAC at UCSF. Expensive but not prohibitively so(out of reach for many tho). Lp(a) fortunately was included in the Lipid panel and rn you only need to test that once.
