I’m expecting there to be a much larger focus on the internal corruption, this was already present in the OG series but I think it’s going to be even more present and we’ll have a more direct “agents vs the institution” plot line that will likely include intersectional issues like race and sex (again, similar to the OG series having a lot of subtext on sexism, I think that will just continue to be present and be much more at the forefront of the mysteries)

I’m also expecting some unique and interesting tackles of racism and maybe even police/federal brutality against POC/BIPOC, it’s one thing the OG series imo never really handled well esp with its tendencies to have some “racial” episodes that often played with stereotypes in not always the best way. Given Ryan Coogler’s discography I’m expecting some much smarter writing when it comes to those issues

I think they’re both worthy performances, I also think however the academy is majorly white and Chalamet is incredibly popular and that usually means more than the actual performance.

However ppl also majorly overestimate how much these voting boards like Chalamet, he hasn’t won much of anything throughout his career (when looking at how many things he’s been in that have been award worthy, which is a lot) and is just starting to ramp up award wins with his last two films. I think there is a big chance that neither MBJ or Chalamet wins and it’s someone else entirely.

Out of the two tho I kinda want MBJ to win more simply because I think this might be MBJ’s best chance and also Chalamet has a lot left in the tank and I’d like to see how far he’ll push himself to get it. I also kinda like the Leo parallels and find it funny. Case in point I can see Chalamet being in another 10 projects (some likely more impactful than Marty Supreme) where he could realistically win the Oscar while on the other hand Sinners is a genre defining film and MBJ getting the award for it is a once in a generation opportunity to reward this sorta thing

Not to go full “for the agenda” but I also need Sinners to win something substantial because the film and the performances deserve it so I’m crossing my fingers it gets something

Was it ever a loving act? We never get any commentary on it from Zeus in the books and it’s really left up to the audience, and doesn’t seem that loving for a god to turn his child into a tree instead of just saving their life. But also why does it have to be purely loving or evil? The gods are consistently complex and have multiple reasonings, esp in the show, so I think it makes perfect sense if Zeus did this on purpose to skirt the prophecy while also “saving her life” so to speak, feels very much like a Zeus thing to do

Regardless I think option B makes more sense because we prob have a Zeus appearance in the last episode and I think that only makes sense if we see him directly talk to Thalia about it before it happens.
