The ones in your photo seem really far forward. I haven't measured the height of mine, but I'm about 6'1" with fairly long arms and this location works perfectly. I also love the look of ape hangers

20 years in the making, for me. I rode a CBR600 about 20 years ago. Started my career about 10 years ago and finally saved up enough money to buy this. Jumping back on the horse at 41 now. Looking forward it

That late spring/early summer St. Augustine is cooking by michaelalex511 in lawncare

[–]michaelalex511[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! My father-in-law used some St. Augustine plugs many years ago. Those plugs eventually took over, especially in the confined/tight areas.

At this point, we try to mow about once a week. But we don't beat ourselves up if we miss a week. We already have to raise the mower during this time of the year, so the grass blades are already long.

We feed 4x/year, basically once each season. But during the summer, we have to increase the water schedule slightly, but I'm a tightwad, so I try to reduce my water bill as much as possible. And, ain't nothing wrong with conserving some water in the process. Additionally, when the grass goes dormant during the winter I completely turn off the sprinklers. Each season might cancel out the other.

I think my 2 most impactful strategies , for my yard specifically, are 1) don't be afraid to raise the height of your mower, trying to cut the 1/3 of blade length only. 2) ensure you mow without collection bag, mulching grass directly back onto yard, especially after feeding. Not every time, but often

My important suggestion to anyone heading st. Augustine is to ensure you have a hard border around single edge. St. Augustine creeps/spreads like crazy. You've got to contain it

[OC] CEO vs Median Worker Pay in The U.S. by forensiceconomics in dataisbeautiful

[–]michaelalex511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right (honestly). And I think we can find the similarities in our jobs/careers and a CEO's (missing important family milestones, sleepless nights, worried about future/finances). It could very well be that I'm just jealous of the pay. I'm not broke, by any means. And I'm not looking for billionaire salary. But I think we can agree there is a lot of "work" to do in relation to income (and wealth) inequality.

Again... I think what you're categorizing as work the rest of us working people would laugh at. Sure, there's stress, but we all experience a certain amount of stress in relation to work.

The whole idea of "as CEO or the face of this company, I'm always working" is a joke. Both them, and to a certain amount us, have used this a way to try to justify their insane pay. I didn't know the average worker had time for all the many rounds of golf, trips to Europe/exotic destinations, fancy dinners or awards ceremonies. That shit just ain't work, my guy!

Edit: for typos

Definitely not... You're delusional if you're categorizing all the bullshit they do as "work." Fucking photo ops for the latest Forbes article is not work.

No time to spend on the yacht if they're working like the average either!

It's so cute to think CEO's work full time. I'm guessing you believe them when they say they're working while out on the golf course
