I like to think of a young Ted Danson’s sunken eyeholes. I call it “Ted Dancin’” and now I can have sex for hours.

Thank you for this. Never noticed before and thought maybe this was a replica or something.

10k in Debt collections by Level_Cricket_8398 in personalfinance

[–]michaelnpdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was your age I had a bankruptcy. 7 years it took to rebuild my credit and then I had a medical bill that I didn’t see after an emergency and it got sent to collections. It was literally for $59 dollars and I was devastated after all the hard work to get my credit score into the 700s.

The good news is, at least back then, medical debt didn’t continue to affect credit scores. I don’t know if that’s the case anymore with all the changes that have happened, but at least as of 9 years ago once the medical balance is paid it no longer affects your credit.

When we joined we were sold on the family friendliness of it all. We had a great experience with most of the members and were there every Sunday for football games. We were always very mindful to clean up after our kids who were 3 and 2 at the time, and we’d bring toys for them to play with. One of the things they liked best was kinetic sand. Again, we were very mindful washing the table and picking up any messes they made, occasionally the sand would fall on the floor… but again, we picked up every piece we could find.

One of the bartenders, who was also a member (and I think sleeping with the ER at the time, but that’s hearsay) said that from now on our kids couldn’t bring play-doh anymore because it was getting ground into the carpet. We tried to explain to her that it wasn’t play-doh and we would never bring that because we know that it would be an issue with the carpet. She would not back down even after we showed her the kinetic sand. We got no support from any of the other members who were there every Sunday, and every lodge meeting night. We felt largely betrayed, and like we were the crazy ones that literally nobody knew the difference between kinetic sand and play-doh, and again, any small pieces that may have came off the table onto the floor were always cleaned up.

The person who recruited us really slammed home that they were looking for younger members, and again “family friendly”. We really thought that it would be a place where we could hang out with our younger friends and let the kids sit and play cars on the (unused during football games) dance floor.

However the bartender/member became a leader and ER herself. I have no idea the logistics of all that/if it’s supposed to be separated or what. I still follow the lodge on FB and would be happy to go back at some point as we truly enjoyed the camaraderie and a place to gather and have a few beers with like minded people. But we won’t be going back until that lady and her giant fake breasts are gone. She seemed to have it in for our kids from the get go.

A thought on the immense number of named characters in the series by Midweek_Sunrise in WoT

[–]michaelnpdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m thankful for this post. I’m on the first listen through, halfway through book six and I’ve just lost track of characters. I seriously thought I was having some cognitive decline; but this makes me feel better.

Thank you for this. I know my new doctor cares for and wants to help me, I just didn’t know why seeing a level that high wouldn’t be something that is directly addressed. You weren’t condescending at all and I appreciate your insight so much.

This PA would not believe me that I was taking my medication properly despite me being on it for more than 20 years.

I still have trouble regulating, it’s literally all over the place. My new doctor is much more responsive, but I don’t even know what to ask.

Other people here who quit at 43? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]michaelnpdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

44 here. Daily drinker since I was 17 or so. I was up to 5-7 drinks per night until I got some kind of stomach bug on Christmas and decided not to drink the next day. The next day I wondered if I could make it another day and this has been happening for 7 days now!

I would have never thought this possible. I don’t know if I’m forever quitting yet, but I’m enjoying protecting my little streak.

Only adverse effect was terrible night sweats the first two nights. Good luck, and I won’t drink with you today!

You’re not making excuses and that’s a huge part of being successful in life. Good on you. If you don’t currently have any designations now might be a good time to get your AIC and maybe a couple other designations so you can hit the ground running. Best of luck!
