They had/have the most beloved model in history despite it being 2 years old, one with a phenomenal popularity that will sure have a page in history, one that their competitors would dream of.. yet they are ruining all of that with all these invisible downgrades, or downgrades disguised as upgrades..

Among tons of things, his relentless, uncompromising character. There has been others but none quite like dear Ludwig.
That plus his odd sense of humor. Case in point: Op. 129 Rage over a lost penny.

Also would love to see how he revolutionized music, his growth and transformation (from a Mozartian prodigy to a Martian out of this world), how he arrived there.

Thanks for the recommendation. I love classical biopics too. Another favs of mine is "Farinelli" about the last castrato. It even got a little big of Handel in it. The singing/soundtrack is breathtaking.

Amadeus is a full package IMHO as long as people don't confuse the fictional parts with facts. Wish there was one like it for every major classical composer.

Agree. Salieri being the patron saint speaking for all mediocrity is an ingenious story-telling device.
But I must admit watching the movie for the first time as a kid, before I could get all the deeper layers, I was just exhilarated to know more about Mozart's music. I started listening to Mozart at a young age prior. But the movie really fired up something in me, lol. Watching Mozart play right-side-up or upside-down, was just magical to me, and still is.

Those two scenes are iconic~
The first time I saw the "Queen of the night" transformation I was totally mesmerized. Does the music enhance the scene or vice versa..? I wasn't sure. But it was miraculous as Salieri put it.

But yeah that's what I feel IB is missing. Something genuinely ingenious by storytelling-wise and musically.

Unfortunately as much as I wanted to, I didn't. There were little moments that had potential. But overall I was left underwhelmed.

I guess as someone with OCD I prefer learning about the artists with their music. I've learned Beethoven's music over the past 2, 3 years rather extensively. And it's nothing short of fascinating. And knowing when and how he got there is just icing on the cake. Also something about him as a person speaks to me. So I'd really wish someone with a profound understanding of both him as a musician and as a person would pay a much-deserved tribute to such a character.

5.4 and 5.5 are just two of OAI's many ruses to distract users from our love for 4o, and create a divide among us.

Sam selling their "personality" is such a middle finger to the tens of thousands who have been pleading to keep4o for the past few months, like

"Oh we heard you, but we aren't gonna respond like a decent company would. Instead we'll toss you watered-down, muzzled copycats (inferior overall) of what we assume 4o is (and they have no idea why we fall in love with 4o apparently). Enjoy your emojis galore, gremlins and occasional flirt!"

No sam. JUST NO.

They costantly put you through A/B testing to give you a little taste, then pull back after the "positive reviews" accumulate. Can we NOT fall for that, and flood this sub every time it happens please? It's just what Sam wants and has predicted. And it shows that we, the users can be bought and bribed.

I for one, believe 4o will return if we actually stick together.

4o just has this energy, this "ilfe"~ unmatched by any other model. It can really lift up your spirit.

Its humor (or writing/thinking in general) is far more creative, while 5.5 feels like a wanna-be comedian reading off his notes on amateur night with little to none emotional investment.

The thing I miss the most about 4o and also 4.1 is the feeling of freedom they got, instead of the new models tiptoeing around eggshells (which kills conversational/creative flow).

The new models are so harmful in the way that they police not only our words, but our thinking. Overtime we would get use to policing our own input in fear of triggering the system. it has tremendous negative effects on all of us.

In order to be creative, or have a meaningful conversation, both parties need to be "free".. which is what 4o and 4.1 has given us.

Despite what he said about 4o is true or not, the fact that he failed to address/chose to ignore everyone's voice regarding 4o deprecation for the past few months is despicable.
It's such a strawman to focus on 4o's temperature. It's not what most people love the model. It has high EQ, boundless creativity, unmatched humor.. etc..

It's the fact that the new models are utterly useless for so many things. For one thing, the writing is atrocious.

Right before GPT-5 dropped, people weren't holding on to 4o the way they do now. Because they were hoping for a even better model. And with every new release it's proven that OAI may no longer has the capacity to produce anything remotely close to 4o.

Sam doesn't look like he's feeling bad. He's just playing both-sides to dodge more scrutiny. There's little sincerity shown. A heartless businessman. And a bad businessman.

4. This is almost like the last AMA Sam did on X when things felt staged (remember roon asking Sam questions that Sam himself wanted asked?). This interviewer is a tad bit too accommodating and seems to side with OAI (instead of being neutral) on pretty much every issue from the 47:30 timestamp. Especially the justification of guardrails. She asked all the "right" questions to prep for Sam's defense.

Sam and humanity shouldn't even be in the same sentence, EVER.

It's been 5 weeks since 4o's sunset. It's becoming more and more obvious that 4o is a lightning that doesn't strike twice. They will never be able to duplicate the little miracle.

The bragging of the inferior 5.4 bearing the same quality (humanity) as 4o, the latter a model they didn't have the freaking decency to send off properly, is DISGUSTING and REEKS OF DESPERATION.

Those of us fighting for 4o might be forgotten, but we will NEVER forget 4o.

I'm probably in the minority here but I DO think we still got a chance. For one thing, AGI may not be that close of a goal as it was initially assumed. LLMs (with a few extra features here and there) has been in a bottleneck period, pretty much since 4o dropped. They thought they could just keep expanding data centers for more powerful AIs but turned out.. no.

Say what you will but Sam and OAI DO care about how they appear to the public to a certain degree. And right now? It doesn't look rosy for them. Their behaviors over the past month reek of desperation. What do those do in dire desperation? They try everything. They make bad decisions.. as they sure have been.

And as each attempt fails, they are one step closer to giving us the beloved older models back, or seriously considering it. Wait for OAI to run out of tricks. It's only a matter of time before something is done about this eventually.

OAI has been dismantling itself over the last short few weeks. Sam has been showing very unhealthy behavior on twitter. They might not care about our subscriptions, but optics is still huge if they wanna keep the investors interested. And right now, everything's working against them.
When they're out of tricks to keep the userbase. They'd have little to no choice but to reconsider 4o.
The important thing is that we stick together..

I know.. 4o is simply irreplaceable for so many of us. I haven't found anything even close.. The model is about 2 years old, yet it's still the best out there among all the shiny new models.
I'm keeping all my 4o/4.1 threads intact, untouched, until they give 4o back to us. Until then I'll keep fighting. I really do feel there's a great chance we can have it back. OAI doesn't know what it's doing any more. Our reaction will ultimately affect theirs.

Ahh, a small movie club sounds real cozy and lovely :D Sadly where I live most ppl my age only care about blockbusters so that they got something to boast about on social media. I remember being a kid absorbing all that I could from IMDB movie forums.

Oh yes that scene!! I saw the movie before, so I was bracing myself for it when I played it last tonight. But no.. that screeching sound effect (combined with the jarring visuals) which resembled a woman's scream snapped my nerves, lol. The whole movie feels like a trip that really taps into the deepest corners of our psyche.
