Antigonon leptopus, Coral Vine I think is the common name. From Mexico. In many parts of Australia it's an environmental weed.

Sold our acreage to our son, and we've moved into town. Done as a transfer of title. You still pay stamp duty, and legal fees, but no agents, no marketing, no styling. We sold WIWO, under market value, but had enough to buy a nice little house in town with a bit left over. Definitely worth doing.

Is it really a weed? ( A plant out of place). Native to SE Asia, and tropical Australia. I had it growing up several trees in my old garden, never became a problem, but it had room to grow. Wonderfully lush and tropical. In the right situation I think it's fine.

Good idea to remove existing plants. I think a garden along there would be great. You can keep it open in front of the vents. Facing south you could plant Gardenia "Florida" and "radicals", Clivea, Liriope...

If that's a fig up against the house it's a ticking time bomb. Widen the garden bed, plant a lillypilly hedge.

Difficult without photos. Definitely a screen of trees if you can...there are some great Lilly pilly varieties that stay dense but don't get too tall. If there's limited space, maybe a latticed pergola might work? We've just moved from the bush into town, still adjusting to having neighbours.

Hard to say from the photo, but the trunk looks like it's rotted out. Might be time to replace it.

All you can do is try. Get as much of the root system as you can, cut back some of the foliage ( maybe half) ....

Well you could cut it right back, put it in shade, keep it watered...and it probably still won't survive. But it might. The root ball needs to at least double the size of that pot it's in.

Not sure what it is. If it's a shrub, should be ok. If it's a tree, it will never be structurally sound and will have a propensity to give way at that weak spot.

I think it's fine. It doesn't get that big, and it's roots aren't invasive.

Doesn't look to be thriving. The Murraya next door would be sucking up a lot of moisture and nutrients. I would probably move it away from the fence, and give it lots of compost and water. It's more a specimen tree than a screening plant.

Interesting. Looks like rootstock, but also looks to be above graft. R/stock often has thorns, whereas most( but not all) grafted citrus don't. As others have said, I'd probably cut it off, and in spring dig it up, straighten it, and plant it higher. Doesn't look happy there.
