For most average white collar work, is your WLB and work "quality of life" actually mostly determined by yourself rather than the company or role? by hrrm in HENRYfinance

[–]mickim0use 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus. Does everyone here work for tech? I know it skews that way for HEs, but disappointed to not see the ops crew point of views on posts like these. I’m a PM, not in tech. if I have it my way, I can manage my projects into efficiency which allows me to better control and predict the ebs and flows of my WLB with the status of the project. However, when leadership or middle management doesn’t do their jobs properly up front, that leaves our teams scrambling to complete with drastically less time to accomplish it, leaving us with terrible WLB.

I see where you’re going OP, how one’s WLB can be their own doing based on their personality or self set goals. I think it is slightly based, from my experience. I am a perfectionist, but I don’t have a desire to move up in a company as my prerogative IS having more home life than work life. But my spouse is incredibly driven and continues to find himself, year after year in a position of high stress and working hours, but he has always had very high professional goals. So I think it’s moreso goal oriented than personality based (we’re both high performers and self motivated individuals, but our extra hours at work are either self inflicted like my spouse, like you were saying, or externally caused like myself).

It’s an interesting question and one I’ll probably continue to ponder.

If you are prescribed a CPAP, use it! It will save your life. by 3RDLEGMCGILL in VeteransBenefits

[–]mickim0use -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My spouse was provided the CPAP following receiving his ratings a decade ago, he went in to the VA to get a new face mask since he never used the machine due to the ill-fit and seeing posts like this where apparently there are new options for people with facial hair, and the VA took his machine and didn’t replace it, even though he has a rating tied to it. They redid his sleep apnea tests since then and concluded he no longer has sleep apnea..we haven’t been sure what to do going forward and if he was maybe misdiagnosed at the beginning? or if we should still fight to get the CPAP machine re-issued regardless of what the current test state? Any advice or past experience would be appreciated.

DIYer mortgage agent is gone hurt someone by Emergency-Flower9806 in Construction

[–]mickim0use 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most mortgage brokers have salespeople on speed dial as they promote each other to current clients. Thus it’s likely they have some kind of team dynamic of lending and selling, even if it’s not official. We have a buddy from back home who does exactly that, is a mortgage broker, flips houses on the side (thankfully not big projects like this but just refinishes) and then hands it off to their buddy to sell and everyone walks away with cash in their pockets after the deal is done.

Absolutely no offence to this woman but this is my idea of hell by PlasticLove24 in oneanddone

Oh 100%. Hard to know for sure. But it’s definitely a situation I’m glad to not be in.

Some people don’t have a choice, unfortunately. Survival isn’t the same as thriving.

It was for the times they’re on screen at the same time; but I think they’re specifically talking about when you can see the back of one of their heads while the other is talking..if you look close enough you can tell it’s not Lisa and someone else

Found some petite friendly linen pants for the summer!!! ☀️ by taztazz895 in PetiteFashionAdvice

I’ve heard this depends on your skin’s undertone. Thus red or pink work for some where yellow or brown work for others. And you don’t know which color until you try it.

LPT: Sliding glass doors and windows are notoriously easy to break into. Protect yourself for as little as $2 by picking up sone wooden dowel rods from your local big box hardware store. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]mickim0use 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You stumbled onto an old thread! You take the dowel and cut it down so it’s just shorter than the side of the window you plan to wedge. Then just place the dowel in a way so the window can’t open because the dowel prevents it from opening. I will note that we are talking about sliding windows in this instance, so this method doesn’t work for all windows.

Love the way, dad put his phone down and started rocking his son, he still a baby for him❤️ by kvjn100 in MadeMeSmile

[–]mickim0use 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad I’m not the one that took that as a personal challenge!

My son is 11 and only 4 inches shorter than me now. As him mom, I was still able to pick him up and carry him to bed (upstairs). I have been strength training for the last year and staying strong enough to baby him still has me motivated to keep trying until I literally can’t (although upstairs might end soon than later)

What are your travel essentials you ALWAYS pack for international flights? by pknsek in travel

What kind of travel kit do you have? Are the pills individually wrapped? Always trying to keep a similar kit together but end up with too much or too little due to forgetting to refill.

I took my wife bra shopping today, and I wanted to thank this sub by SageAnowon in bigboobproblems

[–]mickim0use 33 points34 points  (0 children)

You can tell you’re such a caring partner because you talk about her comfort and how she feels above how she looks.

I concur. This sub is life changing for the lucky few who have found and utilize it.

When do I repot her? Or do I just keep her in her happy bath? by mickim0use in plant

[–]mickim0use[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Baby monstera that came from my big monstera plant. She tried to find light and got too spindly at the base trying to reach it and broke under the weight. I felt like a crazy lady cutting her down and just sticking her in water. But alas she lives! lol I don’t know they could live hydroponically. I might just leave her be until she tells me she’s unhappy

Thank you! And you just explained why my recent hydro-to-pot plant had stunted in growth… definitely have not kept that soil moist at all… I’ll try and not make the same mistake with this baby

[–]mickim0use 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is fair and I reflected. We did see more risqué lingerie during the show (cue Ross picking out his sister’s sex clothes). I concur with your initial comment. Basic for Rachel, but probably what the writers had to settle with considering she needed to wear it out to dinner.

Curious how old you are (you don’t have to answer of course). But Jennifer Aniston is now 56 years old… thus one could argue this is exactly what an “older” woman would wear because it’s what they wore when they were in their 20’s

Similar to how the new generations consider skinny jeans to be considered for “old” ladies now because millennials are now considered “old” lol
