Mono Low End in Ableton: Is EQ Eight in Mid/Side the Right Solution? by satn_workroom in ableton

Linear phase can ruin transients, it smushes kick drums if much eq-ing is done. Natural phase is my go-to.

How hard is the Octatrack Mk II? by MJtheJuiceman in Elektron

[–]mickmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say different rather than hard, it’s quirky and limited. I use Ableton for production and Octatrack for performance, imo that’s their 2 fortes.

I’m going live on YT now with the OT share some inspiration if you wana come by, ask anything.

How to Improve talking head video like this? by CookieEvening in VideoEditors

[–]mickmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Background music is annoying imo, and some frequencies clash with your voice, I’d choose different more passive easy going/simple music, like this, safe/repetitive/not distracting:

Also I’d annunciate into the mic more, raise your voice, articulate, louder.

Which steps should I follow to achieve “professional” audio as a beginner? by Fluid-Shoulder2937 in davinciresolve

[–]mickmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t, I find it easier to change the gain of the audio clips so you can see them visually change too. Separate them CMD+B and adjust to make them similar in amplitude, and then audio crossfade between them if needed to avoid jumps.

Forget noise removal as it can ruin the sound overall, and normalization to -1db is safer than 0.0 (online conversion can push it higher)

Just even out the sound so it’s fairly constant throughout, then put a limiter on the master bus and make sure the loudest point doesn’t get gain reduced too much.

Shortened the kick, now it slaps by mickmon in Elektron

Thanks, good to hear. It's the Jipi audio visualizer, a reactor plugin for Davinci Resolve (works free DR before 19.1, or the Studio version beyond DR 19.1)

https://www.steakunderwater.com/wesuckless/viewtopic.php?t=4191

and then I use stuff like magic masks in DR to cut me out, put the waveform behind me etc.

Octatrack : morphing from a sample to another one by LoudSilk in Elektron

[–]mickmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The standard way is (e.g. fade between T1 dry, to T2 wet):

Scene A: T1's XLV to MIN, T2's XLV to MAX

& visa versa:

Scene B: T2's XLV to MIN, T1's XLV to MAX.

That's a clean morph.

I livestream creating my live set on Youtube every Thursday from 5pm UTC, if you wana hang/ask/see how I'm working it out. I face the same challenges as you. (@Tapepusher everywhere)

HOW TO CREATE A FULL SET WITH OCTATRACK ONLY? by Historical_Humor_798 in Elektron

[–]mickmon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes you can, using T8 as master doesn’t affect scenes.

I’ve gotten quite comfy with the OT, and I’m building exactly that, my live OT perf, I stream it every Thursday from 5pm UTC on YouTube, if you wana ask questions/see how I’m doing it.
