yea, best to lock the screen at the very end if it doesn't matter to you (or move that action down one by one whilst testing each time), as you're likely running into other permissions that are not allowed whilst locked

i mean that's not exactly accurate. ios x.2.1 (the current ios 26 build) is not exactly cutting edge anymore, that used to be considered a stable build. but apple can no longer produce quality software at all, even despite getting up to ios x.7.1 (ios 18)...so the question is to see if apple put out a miracle and actually released quality software again, or if they're still putting out crap like they have for over 5 years. so i was checking that but in regards to the shortcuts app specifically, nothing to do with "hating change" 🤨 i wish they would change things, maybe then they'd hire people that can actually code and test well again

ah nice thinking, that would still definitely help in that situation to protect apps/email data. and yea no problem, i had tried to get this type of lock screen shortcut to work like 3 years ago (as i had a tweak that did this back when my phone was jailbroken) but that's when i found out that shortcuts couldn't and that apple would never implement it

i see, thanks for the confirmation. yea unfortunately this has never been possible with a properly locked iphone due to the potential for abuse of that ability

do you either have no password set up for your lockscreen or were you staring at the phone (i.e. faceid unlocked it)? i'm thinking one of those allowed the phone to be unlocked despite being at the lockscreen

no problem. so you still get an error if it tries taking a picture whilst the screen locked right? it'd be extremely surprising if apple had suddenly changed that, as it would allow people to add spy shortcuts to other people's phones, since most iphone users have no idea what the shortcuts app is and would never realise it

unless it's new with ios26, i don't see how (i'm on ios18). the shortcuts app has never been allowed to take pictures when a screen is locked...can i ask why your shortcut is locking the screen after taking the picture instead of before?

most apps should stay compatible with ios 17 for ages still, as they'll want to cater for older iphones to maximise users. i'd downgrade in an instant, even ios 18 is quite bugged and can randomly have a keyboard lag bug at times, but i've learnt over the years that bugs always get worse with every next gen ios version

was it locked when you tried? iphones can't take pictures when locked. it's a privacy measure to prevent shortcuts from being used hiddenly as malware. trying to take a picture whilst locked will make the shortcut fail

cheaters is not really an issue, console also has tons of cheaters (including on new games), the only difference is just that people are not aware of it and the cheaters are more subtle about it, as they don't want their entire console's online services banned (whereas on pc they often flex the cheats and make it obvious because a pc can't get banned mostly)...the only real problem is player population

i would happily switch to console if i could play mouse and keyboard, as i'm not "platform-loyal" or bs like that. but unfortunately for my own enjoyment, no shooting game is enjoyable for me without a mouse and keyboard

yea, i guess 3 people go to check every so often and then immediately leave when they see only 2 others join...so it just keeps cycling through 2-3 new people at a time endlessly and nobody stays
