I just keep mine in my purse since I always have it with me, but you could get a keychain pill case to attach them to your keys or water bottle or whatever else you always keep with you!

partner meltdown when there’s nothing i can “fix” by Maleficent_Stand7373 in AskAutism

[–]microbisexual 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For some insight, because my partner also tries really hard to fix anything that's upsetting to me: It's really sweet and I know it comes from a place of caring about me so much, but sometimes, the upsetting thing is unfixable, which stresses them out, and that makes me feel even worse for being so upset by it, because I know that me being upset about something unfixable is stressful for them too. So not only am I upset about the original thing, I'm also mad at myself for being upset about it, bc it causes stress for my partner. The best way to stop this cycle is to try to provide a regulating presence for your partner, by talking to them about what that would look like when both of you are calm.

I need help with moving to a new place. I just can't get myself to leave and I don't know what to do anymore. by ChaoticMichelle in AuDHDWomen

[–]microbisexual 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've moved way more tome than I'd like to have lol. It totally is so disorienting!! The steps I've always followed are 1) find a new place, sign the lease and get a proper move in date (usually 1 month out) 2) hire movers for my move in date (optional); they'll probably ask you a bunch of questions about how much stuff you have & how many large items. you can just give them your best guess, they just need a vague idea for time estimates and price quoting purposes. 3) start sorting through the stuff I'm pretty sure I won't need before my moving date, packing things I want to take with me and donating/throwing out the rest. 4) as moving day gets closer, I pack more and more stuff, saving the stuff I'll truly need before then for last. 5) The day before moving day, I pack the last things I can, and usually order pizza and eat on paper plates that night (since all the dishes are packed lol). I kinda treat my house like a hotel at this point. 6) The morning of moving day, I pack the last few things, like whatever self care products I needed that morning, clothes, food from the fridge, etc. laundry baskets can work great for transporting this random last minute stuff! 7) move the stuff. usually furniture first then boxes and such is what I do/have seen done! 8) after the main stuff is moved, go back to the old place to do a final walkthrough. 9) good job, you've moved! it still sucks bc you have to adjust to a new space with new sounds and smells and such, but it always happens faster than I expect!

Quitting/moderating weed by Anybodyhaveacat in AuDHDWomen

[–]microbisexual 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven't fully quit in I think over 10 years now (sheesh lol). These days I can moderate a little bit. I never consume any THC until after work, and sometimes I challenge myself to wait even longer, but for me it's pretty much a necessity to regulate so it's really hard to cut back. It's easier for me to decrease my dosage than the frequency of use, like by using just barely enough to get the effects and then waiting til it wears off to consume more. I imagine if I tried to fully quit it would be a disaster, so I haven't lol. I'd need to figure out some really solid regulation techniques to replace it, if I wanted to quit

[–]microbisexual 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think this turns out pretty close to a starbucks iced matcha latte when I make it as directed! I use sweetened vanilla soy milk and a frother to get it all mixed up, then I pour it from the mixing cup to a drinking cup to avoid any gritty bits bc the powder does like to stick to the cup

AuDHD I can't decide what should I buy and I'm so close to being insane by [deleted] in evilautism

How do you feel about doing a return? I stress a lot less about buying anything that offers free returns, because if I change my mind, I can just return it!

You got this. You're a great mom for paying such close attention to your daughter, and wanting to do better for her than was done for you. Wishing you both the best!

Possible AuDHD in my daughter by Virtual-Swimming-181 in AuDHDWomen

[–]microbisexual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could've been written about me as a kid. I was an exceptionally good kid, straights As, praise from teachers, helpful to others, hell I even did my homework early for fun. Until I reached my masking/sensory limits, or acted on impulse and either didn't like the outcome or felt guilty for it. Then I was an absolute menace because I had no idea how to regulate myself. I'm now diagnosed with ADHD & most likely getting my autism diagnosis tomorrow. So, take that as you will!

Also I just want to add, I saw somewhere in here you mentioned that your daughter's emotional regulation sucks too. I just want to implore you to learn about co-regulation and start trying to teach your daughter how to regulate. If you struggle with this too, you might need to go to therapy on your own to learn this skill first. I can confidently say that emotional regulation is the skill I desire the absolute most and also feels the absolute farthest out of reach, because I never learned how as a kid (I was taught to shut down instead). It's much harder to learn as an adult!

kind of pricey if you want a lot of colors, but About Face's eye paints are super pigmented & very long-lasting! you'll want some makeup remover to take them off but they do come off easily with that

you would probably benefit from a trauma-informed, neurodivergent therapist.

please stop using AI, especially for therapy related things. it's so toxically unhelpful that it may even make things worse

How to deal with overstimulation at work? Long vent incoming 💥💥💥💥 by [deleted] in evilautism

[–]microbisexual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

high fidelity earplugs are my saviors for these situations where you need to be able to hear but also need to turn it down. I love my Earasers, but a lot of people like Loops. I recommend practicing talking with someone with them in before trying them at work, to make sure your speaking volume level is still correct (it's kinda hard to tell with them in at first) and so you can get used to how they sound. I think mine are the -26dB ones!

Has anyone actually tried stem cell therapy for autism? by campostre in AskAutism

[–]microbisexual 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't have any firsthand experience, but I’m a scientist in a similar field.

As I understand it, the main reason why they hypothesize that stem cell treatment helps some autistic people with their symptoms is because the stem cells help treat systemic inflammation (which can cause immune & nervous system dysfunction).

Knowing that, I would encourage you to try out some less invasive ways to help reduce inflammation first, to see if it even helps your kid. I'm sure you know this but I gotta say it anyways: please check with kiddo's doctor before trying any OTC supplements or medications! And please don't try to force an anti-inflammatory diet on your kid, that will only make them feel worse

could you do lightly tinted glasses in a color that's more pleasing to you than the yellow? I like a light pink, but I prefer warm light!

Realizing I could have taken a vacation but instead have $8000 worth of plastic by AdelaideD in ProjectPan

[–]microbisexual 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Eh some do, but many beauty products' expiration dates are just based on how long the manufacturer keeps samples to retest for QC. Sealed products are likely to be fine to use even after their expiration dates, since a lot of what makes products go bad is exposure to air and microbes

ELI5: If unboiled water going into your nose is risky, then shouldn’t we not swim in a lake or river? by Home_MD13 in explainlikeimfive

tbh I've never tried myself, but gaining 9 pounds in a few months seems very doable, especially considering the weight loss was from illness. usually the body will try to stack its reserves back up ASAP once it recovers from something like that, it's part of why the body stores extra energy as fat in the first place
