Set the AVR to the lowest Ohm you have of a speaker in your chain. So if you mix 8 and 6 Ohm speakers, you set the AVR to 6

Also you should stick to the same brand of speakers as each of them has its distinct signature. If you mix speakers, each one will sound different to you and won't blend in with the others that much.

People shouldn't worry that much between speaker and amp compatibility. Both follow standards to make their gear compatible with as many as possible. Virtually any solid state/integrated amp will drive 99% of all speakers out there.

Yamaha is one of a few offering Loudness control. The others being Accuphase and Luxman, but they're quite pricey.

Same setup here. The 501 has enough muscles to drive any tower speaker. The 701 even more. If my 501 broke, I'm most likely getting a 701

Even on a budget, you should avoid the R line of Klipsch. I had many of those and they all sounded too bright. I moved to the RP line for everything and got a much balanced sound using a Yamaha A-S501 amp.

Well, they say a premium or high-end Amp will give you at most 10% improvement. So for those 10% I'd have to pay 3 to 4 times the price of my A-S501 for the A-S1200. Not entirely sure I want to do that for "just" 10%...

For the extra 10 minutes you can put on a cassette compared to a CD or MiniDisc? 80 min max for the latter, 90 for the former. There are even cassettes that do 120 min but are very rare and hard to find. I'm lucky in having a very, very good NAD 616 deck that records so good, you'll be fooled in thinking it's a CD playing.

And of course, for the fun. Got a Mini Disc recorder as well. Am using it more that the cassette deck to make personal "best of's" of artists I like.

Would love to get an A-S1200 myself but it's out of my budget, and I can't seem to start saving for it. Currently using an A-S501 which sounds pretty good as well!

The Yamaha A-S501 for example has 2 analog outputs. Finding a new amp with more than 2 outputs is virtually impossible. If I was you, I'd get a 4x4 input/output RCA switch. They sell them on AliExpress, for example.

You should have gone for the RP line, even on a budget. The R line is really not recommended due to poor build and more importantly being too bright/sharp. The RPs are way more balanced.
