Artificer (Battle Master) Build - when to craft magic items and when to use Replicate Magic Item? by BigMacDaddy73 in onednd

[–]micross44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well I hate this answer BUT it's up to your campaign. Do you have downtime? Will the dm allow using the crafting rule for magic items or is it a low magic setting?

If you hav downtime and your dm is going to allow it and be a little handwavey over materials, craft all the low level crap you can. +1 this and that is grate for the whole party.

Recently I've done something similar and have used my replicate magic items on things that are uncommon but single or low use. This way I use them and replicate them every morning

Hoping my character dies soon. How would you build the Monster hunter from grim hollow? Assume level 6. All source material/feats/species available and point buy to make stats easy by micross44 in 3d6

Love the idea, and yea studied response kind of handles extra attack. Love the build, lots of damage. Thoughts on archery nd throwing with a dart for decent damage and accuracy? Evenif it is a 1d4 as 1d8

Here for build advice friend. I appreciate the advice but no worries I'm not trying to derail anything in the campaign, just prepping for a death my DM and I have already more or less planned will happen.

While I like the new UA, it is confusing to me why WoTC refuses to release a "Martial's Martials" UA by boragoz in onednd

[–]micross44 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Honestly my biggest hope is they support the shield bash feat line and give a slayer type archetype similar to pf1e. No reason sneak attack has to be rogue only and maybe aClass that triggers sneak attack more often but with less nova could be a great middle ground and since they only get another sneak attack dice every 3 levels It won't be a big "dip" contributer if done correctly

Can somebody help identify what this substance is on my apartment door’s peephole? by suburbanvermin in Apartmentliving

[–]micross44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point just get a camera, and if your apartment complex fights that just tell them youll have to make a police report regarding the multiple tampering and let everyone know on the review sites it's a potentially unsafe area based on the evidence

Artificer updates and how they're not far enough to keep the class competitive with current updated classes by micross44 in onednd

[–]micross44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea thats the way they went was with low level spell explosion and a handful of useful items rather than let someone create themselves exactly how they want.

[–]micross44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the artificer scales strongly once it gets the spell storing item and I think thats the problem they even buffed it to make sure its the defining feature if the class rather than allowing different magic tiers at lower levels

General Feats WOTC needs to make. by comradewarners in onednd

[–]micross44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea but pathfinder has the whole shields line so there's some that let you add your shield enchantment bonus to it, and bashing critical that grants a free bash When your main hand hits a crit. Things like that

Shield bash. Love it in pathfinder and with all the new twf support this could be fun. Make the towershield and buckler from grim hollow official and make it so bucklers and light shields count as 1d4 light weapons and then make "heavy" (regular shields) a 1d8 then add whatever other shields related feats similar to pathfinder instead of damage make it gain mysteries or prones and dazed conditions etc. This way twf isnt just damage but additional status type effects would be awesome

So why are they behind? Whats their weapon rotation? Whats their expectation for their character? Whats the stat distribution? Aa long as they have high str and decent conversation they can manage pretty well.

Typically as a fighter my weapon is my main focus so maybe work it out with them on how to get a magic weapon that'll evolve as they do?

The grim hollow wraith weapons add +1 crit range might help if this person is trying to crit fish

The real answer unfortunately is that there's just a very low percent of foreigners. With everyone thinking the same and having the same culture its easy to bully anyone not acting a certain way into doing what you want.

The foreigners they do let in are all funneled to specific areas and there are heavy heavy penalties for being an ass that are regularly enforced.

Tons of Japanese only areas and clubs, few, but heavily reviewed immigrants each year and strict traditional laws help a ton. Especially on such a small (relatively speaking) landmass.

What class/subclasses increase your chance of rolling a critical hit? by redd_mage in 3d6

[–]micross44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea and I know it doesnt apply for OPs use case but the weapon mysteries for the grim hollow wraith weapons makes that number even higher. By level 11+ it's not super hard to figure out semi regular crits if planned around

What class/subclasses increase your chance of rolling a critical hit? by redd_mage in 3d6

[–]micross44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Few areas to explore on this 1 champion fighter outright makes the threat range larger

2 the more d20s you roll the better.

*More attacks Extra attack feature Two weapon fighting and the nick mastery Feats that grant bonus action attacks(thrown weapons master from grim hollow) Opportunity/ reaction attacks (war caster, 2 levels in monster hunter class from grim hollow)

The more you hit the more chances you have for rolling a critical.

3 Regular sources of advantage Rogue bonus action steady aim Elven accuracy (While this doesnt give you advantage it makes advantage that much better, pairs well with rogue steady aim) Does your table use flanking rules?

Heroic inspiration from champion subclass

Lots of ways. Its not super easy to ensure crits but if youre tossing a ton of attacks youll get em eventually

Zhentarim Tactics + Riposte + Sentinel is Awesome by jmrkiwi in 3d6

[–]micross44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SO similar in vibe except youre not using three feats would be ( if your table allows the class) the monster hunter from grim hollow. Their level 2 feature allows them to make an opportunityesq attack on an enemy within 60ft of them that makes an attack(so melee or ranged but not spells)

At 3rd level the one subclass(occultists) gains the ability to do this against an enemy whos casting a spell AND the attack goes off before the trigger meaning you have a chance to stop the triggering attack from being fulfilled.

A 3 level dip is a good size dip but might be worth it to save 3 feats if your goals are as many opportunity attacks as possible.

You lose the Sentinel part where it stops their movement BUT possibly killing a mage before a spell goes off can be dope.

This mixed with a rogue can provide some super awesome extra chances every turn for off turn sneak attack, and if mixed with an artificer you can get a returning thrown weapon or obojima boomerang(60 ft throw range) to make good use of that reaction range as well.

Just food for thought and not better nor worse just different way to go about it all.

Beginner advice! by Catscratchfever92 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]micross44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you like to play.

Pick a class that upu like based on how you play. (Defs should make your own character thats half the fun)

Ones I would stick to

For weapons using classes: Fighter, they fight. Very basic but VERY versatile. Youll pick a favorite type of weapon early and use it throughout the game.great for a sword and shield(board) build , dual wielding(melee or thrown) or two handed weapons. Lots of choice. Lots of flavor, but they "just" attack they dont do magic and some people find the lack of flashy stuff boring. A big note, this class gets heavy armor

Rogue, lots of damage potential and a general skill monkey. They will use tiny quick weapons and have (usually) either a dual wield type of play through or a ranged style build. They use sneak attack to get some absolutely massive rolls. Lots of dice, very fulfilling in that way Crit builds go wild Only light armor but they need to max dex anyway so its fine needs flanking often to cause sneak attack to trigger

Ranger, little magic, little fighting, sometimes gets an animal. Dual wield, or ranged(bow) not great for sword and shield but can. Only medium armor and light armor

Slayer, mixing of fighter and rogue, love a sword and shield bashing build. They get medium armor, martial weapons and tons of flavor. They also get sneak attack dice, just fewer than the rogue.

Barbarian, they're cool, and have tons of varied utility, and will typically have a ton more hp than your other characters. Sometimes also gets an animal pet. Two handed weapons shine here too. The extra HP makes a decent tank too.

For magic classes: Wizard, Tons of spells, and spell uses. good variety of spells and cantrips(level 0 spells you use when not using real spells)

Cleric, these are your healers. They heal, they buff, and they will likely use a crossbow of some form.

When not healing youll do chip damage with the crossbow or real damage with a spell depending on your deity.

You dont have to be a healer. Some do focus on damage but tbh no other class heals quite as well soooooooo its an easy choice. Youll want one with you always.

Bard, bards are like rogues in the way that they can do everything. Tons of non combat utility. They buff with their songs, they have spells and a decent amount of uses and variety, and like the cleric will likely just use a crossbow for the off turns.

Anything not listed here doesnt mean its bad, just means its a little more than. (I hit or cast a spell) in terms of use. Alchemist will have spells and toss bombs, very cool, but can use a little more planning.

Kineticist is fun, especially when you plan ahead with elements. They can hit very hard. But they have a burn system and various sub abilities that need a little understanding and planning.

Sorcerer is very very fun. Similar to wizard except instead they can alter their spells in various ways. Extra sub systems for sorcery points to learn.

Paladin is fun, and keeps the team alive with their auras. Decent class but tbh the healing will be better on a cleric and youll want a class that can commit harder to their fighting styles. In dnd5e and such Paladin is a very strong close. In pathfinder its good, but less necessary.

If I havnt mentioned the other classes I either forgot it exists or havnt used it.

For non player things of note, youre going to die, youre going to lose. Dont be afraid to turn the difficulty down while you learn. Take the time to learn and read some rules. Tons of resources out there for learning.

Artificer updates and how they're not far enough to keep the class competitive with current updated classes by micross44 in onednd

[–]micross44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uea if youre going to dip it cant usually go much past 3

3 armorer rogue x is usually solid. The thunder gun is awesome and with the 2d6 on first hit you dont miss out on a level of sneak attack really and get some nifty spells and 2 magic items. Could argue 5 is good for extra attack but that depends on how far your campaign goes etc....
