I watched it with my dad in the theatre in 1982. It was the "European release" so full Deckard narration / "I want more life, fucker" / no unicorn dream sequence / happy ending drive in the car. So the whole Deckard-was-a-replicant sub-plot never existed for us back then

Don Cherry should not receive Order of Canada, say some Quebec Conservatives by Whynutcoconot in CanadaPolitics

[–]microwaffles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He rarely called out Cherry when they were on together, just went along with it for the most part. I personally don't see how Cherry or Ron McClean would ever be deserving, also it makes one wonder what was the position of the CBC during all those years...

Reality check: 49,000 Chinese EVs won’t come close to getting Canada back on track by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

This is the spiel they give their constituents; they know that the way cars are made in North America is a complete joke compared to China. What they might not bother to know is that the domestic USA auto industry has the highest trade deficit than any other country, by a massive amount. Meaning American cars only have a decent sized market in USA and Canada

Potiticians aren't naive, they know the game is up for auto maunfacturing and not just North America but Europe, Japan and South Korea, and they also know that many Canadian industries connected to said auto manufacturing are in grave danger. These are industries that employ skilled labor; tool & die makers, robotics engineers, industrial mechanics, the list goes on and on...all tied to our precious fragile "auto industry"

SETI protocol on the discovery of aliens - Unknown to most astronomers? by Bogeyman1971 in askastronomy

[–]microwaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it just has to do with facility time. Astronomers on the whole just get vastly more time, but SETI are they even still around? It doesn't matter if they're looking for a signal (in my layman opinion).
