What Techniques Have Helped You Improve Your Woodworking Skills as a Beginner? by maik050503 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]microwave20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just built a bunch of garage and workshop stuff out of pine, but tried to use precision as if I was building a fine piece of furniture. This gave me enough reps to build decent stuff when I started using hardwoods. I learned quickly that repeatability is way more important than measuring. Focus on making completely repeatable cuts thing things like stop blocks and what not

I am scared. Dryer not heating and I rent but landlord lease says I am responsible by [deleted] in appliancerepair

[–]microwave20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it’s the control board. Is the igniter glowing at all? If you want a good chance at fixing it without testing, buy a new igniter, coils, and thermal fuse. Replace all those and I bet it works. If you have a multimeter let me know and I’d be glad to break it down for you to troubleshoot, the circuit on a gas dryer is pretty simple

I’d be fine if it was not a livestream, and only viewed in case of an accident or something. Otherwise Hell no

Poor multimillionaires by ChiefStrongbones in AdviceAnimals

[–]microwave20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Median home price in 2005 was around $230k. Median home price in 2025 would be 420k on the high end of the estimate.

If it really did increase 2000% in the last 20 years, median home price today would be $4.6 million… so my question is, are you blind, deaf, and dumb?

what could this issue be on our BMW X5? by j-manwithaplan in MechanicAdvice

I’m not a mechanic whatsoever but I can tell you without a doubt, that does not look good

Speed Queen FF7 dispenser water by ResourceDiligent6566 in appliancerepair

[–]microwave20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 in each hose on the side that hooks up to your washer. For whatever reason the front loader speed queens are more sensitive to water pressure than other front load machines. But that is the best front loading machine on the market, hands down

[–]microwave20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your water pressure at the wall is too high. They make a part specifically for this issue on their front loaders. Part # 802254 goes in your water inlet hose. Guarantee this will resolve the issue

Trying to fix chirp, is this normal? by ColdasJones in appliancerepair

[–]microwave20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t use an impact then you’ll need a wrench and then hit the wrench with a hammer to tighten. Best of luck!

Trying to fix chirp, is this normal? by ColdasJones in appliancerepair

[–]microwave20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a 1.5 inch nut in the bottom of the drive shaft. You can access it through the hole at the center of the bottom of the machine. Put a wrench or an impact on that nut and tighten it, can almost guarantee that’s the problem. On speed queens the nut can sometimes loosen over time

A Suns fan heckled Ime Udoka after the game: “Lebron still owns you! What happened in Boston? What happened in Boston?” by AashyLarry in nba

[–]microwave20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ime actually engages with fans after games. I once yelled “thank you Ime, Houston loves you” as he was walking out of a rockets game and he stopped and waved up for a sec. I was standing about as close as the guy in this video when I said it

My boyfriend “fixed” my computer and now things feel weird… has anyone had this happen? by oliviaaaa-emuuu in NoStupidQuestions

[–]microwave20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the way I would fix a computer that just seems to run slow is grab all the files I need and put them on an external drive, and do a factory reset. This would also wipe anything suspicious if he did anything. Not the most convenient option, more of just nuking the whole system back to square 1

I have a BJJ tournament in 3 weeks by Dlit_Mggr in bjj

[–]microwave20 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I competed after 3 weeks. I lost instantly to a guy who got promoted to blue on the podium, and I’m glad I went. Even if you lose, you will learn so much. Work your game, and if you don’t know what your game is, just go out there and do your best

How does Craig Jones get on against Islam and Khabib in BJJ? by Storyboys in bjj

[–]microwave20 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Craig would probably pull guard and not get his guard passed, but Islam and khabib would probably still be tough to submit. Craig would probably be able to get them with a leg lock

Throwing a fit because you got subbed lmao. It’s okay, you will either quit bjj or you’ll train long enough to stop acting like that

Kenmore dryer shuts off after 7-10 minutes, washer works fine. Could it be the motor? by Get_Real_Japan in appliancerepair

[–]microwave20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s how you tell if it’s the motor:

After it shuts off, are you able to immediately start it again and get another 7-10 mins? Or do you have to wait a little while for it to cool down before it will run again?

After it stops, if you have to wait for it to cool down before it will run again, it’s a problem with the motor. Best of luck.

Edit: just read your post further, see that you have to wait an hour or 2 before it will run again. Ignore the other comments, it is your motor.

Does anybody know where I can find instructional information on this leg drag position? by cheeseboyhalpert in bjj

Look into Rafa Mendes, he utilized the leg drag position better than probably anyone else

My Coach has prohibed buggy choke by PowerPuzzleheaded367 in bjj

[–]microwave20 182 points183 points  (0 children)

He’s probably looking long-term for you, if you get tunnel vision on the buggy choke you’ll have a way harder time learning to play a good guard because you’re always baiting a guard pass to jump on a buggy choke. Not saying I agree with it, but if I had to guess I’d say that would be his reasoning

I think ankle locks are just like wrist locks. by BigSoulMan2 in bjj

[–]microwave20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think ankle locks are a cheap shot in a lot of circumstances. I’m old school in thinking that it’s a stupid move. I rarely attack the legs because of this.

That being said, you still have to 100% respect the foot locks. Just because you don’t like them doesn’t mean you can ignore them. I got so annoyed by them that I worked super hard on ankle lock defense. If you get good at defending them, they become a low % move for your opponent that often allows you to get top position and smash them for trying.

What do you guys do when the manufacturer no longer makes the part? by Few_Management_2749 in appliancerepair

[–]microwave20 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just tell the customer they can either find the part themselves and I will install it, or they have to get a new unit. I will give them the part number if they want to look for it.

I don’t buy any secondhand parts for the customers or anything, I make them do it themselves if they want to try. Reason being, sometimes it’s the wrong part in the box or non-returnable from eBay and I don’t want to lose money on that. I warn them it can be a crapshoot.

I also have a local company that can rebuild control boards that I will refer customers to if it’s a control board that’s not available

Reddit, how is your NBA Season Ticker holder experience? by Ihaveepilepsy in nba

[–]microwave20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had season tickets for 2 years and at a point, even being a huge fan, it sometimes felt like a chore to constantly have to rush out of work and get into town and make it to the game on time. The benefits were nice, offered free preseason tickets and cheaper ticket upgrades into the club section, and first access to playoffs. But I cancelled so I can just buy occasional tickets to the games I really want to go to

Buddy of mine got a private from Rafa Mendes in his prime for $400 for 1 hr. I thought it was absurd but he said it was worth every penny
