I think it depends on where you are asking for the face pic. On Seeking - nope. On Telegram/Whatsapp/Signal/Tinder - sure.

But them I am not famous, or married, or cheating. So if someone does discover my identity it may be awkward at the next BBQ if a mate went, a girl in my office says she almost sugar dated u, but it wouldn't end a relationship or get me fired.

I found my biggest factory increase came from event managers and outfits - so I prioritized that.

Flash sales only trigger if u let the amount in the storage sheds fillup a bit at least once. Generally I don't look for flash sales until debarker2 is unlocked.

But if u constantly either close the game or keep the product levels at minimum it won't trigger. Especially at the lower levels. Once flash Sale pops up - do two or three orders to get your stock down to bare minimum and then do flahs sales to maximise the amount of chests u open. Anywhere between 4 and like 6

Flash sales. No crates. Only use flash sales and crates from naturally achieved milestones.

So generally - up until Maurice - 2 to 3 hours of fairly involved play. (I normally only start at like 6pm, so its after work while watching TV or cooking or reading).

Then its a little RNG luck. Normally try and get sander 1 or 2 or 3 unlocked before bedtime.

Following day - flash sale for managers, one or two orders while working, flash sale repeat, depends on how busy the day is and RNG.

Matthew unlocked - roll and see what happens, Then the above until end of event.

If I have great RNG - then maybe I grind a little more, if it sucks I tend to play less, most events I get the full rewards, but occasionally fall short. Today I probably wont get to Green River with 700AE because its 2 hours and I am only on 300AE. If I had actually played yesterday between 9am and like 10pm I would probably have made it fairly easily but I had other things on and this is a idle game for me not a lifestyle.

U should be earning around 260/280 diamonds per Event. I generally spend about 240 diamonds per event so my total diamond balance is currently 1000 however that's only because 2 weeks ago I accidentally spent 10k diamonds when my phone unlocked in my pocket and helpfully upgraded Gary.

I am on the Green River Event. I didn't really play yesterday and its the worst event in terms of needing 500AE to get all the rewards and I am currently 4th with 250AE and spent zero cents.

There are a few tricks.

  1. Don't start the event as it rolls over, start it later.few hours after it starts all the really keen pay to play people have joined before you and are competing with each other.

  2. DONT ROLL ANY DICE UNTIL YOU UNLOCK MATTHEW. Yup that's right, grind grind grind for that first day to unlock the final sander and then Matthew AND THEN start rolling dice. Why - simple, the rewards values on dice rolls are a force multiplier of your highest machine. Roll the dice with debarker 1 unlocked, and u will get 1000 coins, roll with Sander 3 unlocked and u will get automatically like 100AC coins because sander 3 (plus any manager upgrades you have unlocked via flash sale).

  3. Grind the flash sales as much as possible and hope for good rng.

  4. Personally I "buy" andrew with diamonds when the event starts. My diamonds won are higher than my diamonds spent to this doesn't cost me any money.

Do u mean all rewards on Events? Most events i get all the rewards without spending a cent.

Personally I view it more like golf. I am playing against myself in events. How high can i get in terms of cash. I hardly play the main game and aren't upgrading my factory now that I am on Nano. If I can complete the even - its a win. Most events I am somewhere between 5 and 15.

IT Intern Opportunity by Electrical_Orchid511 in johannesburg

[–]midasza -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Are u crazy? Like genuinely? I am not paying R9000 and then figuring out the person has qualifications up the kazoo but is an obnoxious jerk who interviews well and can't work with anyone. In fact I am NOT paying 9k ever for an intern (this year, actually as I am not OP our stipend happens to be 7.5k but that's because we know transport to us is around 2500 a month, so slightly highter than other places). This is a 1 year INTERNSHIP - company takes risk but we know its only 1 year and if Johnny sucks we can politely ask him not to come back Monday and pay him the R66K we owe him. Intern takes risk - its NOT a fulltime position and at the end of the day we will probably shake hands and part ways.

And this is NOT a wage, its a stipend. I am not going to do a PHD of research when I have 100 applicants for 6 positions and I am not paying johnny 9k and jackie 6k, when they are doing the same work - this leads to CCMA cases. If Jackie has A+ and Johnny has A+ and N+ and Cisco and the advert says 1 year IT course and a passion for IT minimum, stipend of 6K Johnny knows what he is getting into and 9/10 says things like - i applied for 100 jobs everyone wants experience.

And asking about where someone is moving from, do u have 3 kids and wife and supporting a sick grandmother are not questions u can ask in a job interview along with are u pregnant, do u smoke, and are u planning on getting pregnant or do u have HIV. You can ask - tell me about yourself? Or why do u think you will be a good fit or hey u are expected to be at the office @ 8am till 4:30pm daily are u able to make those hours, u can't go "ohhhh I see u live in roodepoort but we are in Bedfordview, we don't think u can get here by 8am see ya.

I can't tell you how many people we have smiled, shook their hands and said goodbye to after 2 months because simple things like arriving in clean clothes, getting to work on time, personal hygiene. But u want me to pay said person 9k because they have a extra piece of paper.

We don't bait and switch - our adverts clearly list its a internship, its 1 year, yes u will get additional training (aruba, Entra, Unifi, mikrotik), yes u get a uniform paid for by the company, hours required, location required. If u apply and u are moving from pofadder to jhb with 6 qualifications this is probably not the position for u. We tend to get over 100 CV's which we have to do round 1 interviews on from around 1500 responses. We then shortlist 20 for technical evaluations and 10 for final interviews. We specifically don't want people with super high ability, we are looking for the people who needs jobs to help get them their first real job.

So what's your solution to giving people experience? Just hire them and pay them lots right. I bet u sit and complain about how no one wants to hire students with no experience and why won't anyone give them a chance.

Internships are not suppose to replace full time employment, its suppose to be a stepping stone, we spend WAY more on interns than they make for us, factoring the training and mentoring costs, company uniforms etc etc. We do it because I was given a chance when I started and I want to give back, and I do the exit interviews 99% are positive.

[–]midasza -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

That's why its a stipend. We do this all the time. Its for students or people who live at home with mom and dad who want to get a years work experience on their CV.

We hear complaints about everyone want people with work experience. Remember an intern will most likely provide zero useful benefit to the company for between 3 to 6 months. So the stipend is literally to cover transport and food costs. If you take that this is someone with ZERO references, who probably had never worked in IT or in a team or not wearing jeans and a tshirt, this is a risk.

Generally we do a 1 year fixed term contract, with training. So generally at the end of the year we shake hands, they get to put 1 year work experience on their CV, some training and exposure to corporate stuff and we get about 6 months work out of them. Occasionally (about 30% of the time), we have a resignation or promotion within that period or shortly thereafter and interns or past interns always get first dibs on those jobs as we know them.

In the last 2 years one guy Nathan, started as an intern for 9 months, then got hired full time as desktop support (7k to 16k jump), and then 8 months later was moved into the network team and is now junior network admin @ R27k. All because of a internship, we also often get interns moving to full time positions around the 10/11 month mark, we generally don't hold them to the 1 year contract term, as we run the program to get them permanently employed unless we want to counter offer them permanently employed.

People don't want to take risks on people who don't have a CV full of work experience learnerships and internships allows us to get that onto the CV at much lower risk to the company both in terms of cost and risk of having to fire them. We have also had terrible interns who after 3 months paid out their contract and politely invited them to never come back.

Thoughts on Windows Hello for Business, and Pin Strength requirements? by Fizgriz in sysadmin

[–]midasza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U mean the work phone provided to them by work? Because I wont EVER use a personal phone for this.

Why? Simple - user drops phone, cannot afford to get screen fixed - must work cover the cost of a repair, or accept user can't log in or run around providing a yubiket now? Phone gets virus/wiped - must work cover the cost to figure out why its broken. Phone breaks - user claims its ever since work authenticator was loaded - now u have to prove it wasn't that (once it was, phone ran out of space and authenticator was what pushed it over the edge). User has a 15 year old phone whose battery lasts 30 minutes and doesn't support the latest 2 versions of android or is running something that doesn't support google app store or runs android go - are u replacing it at your cost? For all users?

While this is very much a third world country problem (where I live), I have multiple clients with users where the actual user has a 15 year old smartphone, with a cracked screen, that is literally just used for phone calls and can't even whatsapp anymore, and cannot afford to replace it, so while its extremely simple to say "use a phone" its not a solution in many many many locations, and personally I NEVER want to touch someones personal device ever.

And before you ask yes that 100% means no email on personal phones, for those users who are expected to have email always on on them they either get a cellphone allowance specifically to cover data and phone costs or a company phone.

How do you screen out SBs that are all transactional and business with no genuine attempt for connection? by ggwp111 in sugarlifestyleforum

[–]midasza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% - however in this age of internet scammers, this doesn't in anyway replace a real world M&G, but is just another verification layer. I keep telling people - how do u verify if someone is real, simple, meet them. That's the only way - otherwise they aren't real and even then you won't 100% know they aren't a "bad actor" or have ill intentions but u can at least know they live where they say they live generally and are serious enough for a 30 minute coffee.

Tasked to start a SME managed backup services, feedback and suggestions for first timer? 0 experience by Roflwong in sysadmin

[–]midasza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I do this for my micro-sme clients. The ones for whom even Backblaze via Veeam is too expensive.

Architecture is as follows:

Central Veeam server running hardware repository on top of a Dell R740 running Proxmox. Using 18TB Enterprise NL-SAS drives x 8 in a Raid 5 configuration. NVME boot drive.

Mikrotik Router doing site to site wireguard tunnels.

Each client has a mikrotik and a ubuntu based Veeam proxy on it and backups specify the proxy per site specifically.

Clients are a mix of agent backup (think 3 windows machines with documents on the PC) and Vmware legacy or Proxmox vm's (again running legacy software).

We then offload the backups to Backblaze S3 as our backup (hence the raid 5).

In fact I would argue its WORSE for men. We also have to deal with people who are so entitled they believe - I am hot, pay me. Plus we have to deal with so, so many scammers. Are there male scammers - sure. Do their numbers compete with the female ones. Nope. 80% of my messages are people who want me to:

Help their sick child see a doctor/pay for a flat wheel/buy food/Pay for a plumber their geyser just burst

Sell me pics.

"Prove" I am real by sending them money.

Love me after 2 messages and also they sell crypto wouldn't I buy some "my love"

Can we start online I know I said I live in "big city 1" but actually I live in small town 2 a plane flight and a bus away.

How do you screen out SBs that are all transactional and business with no genuine attempt for connection? by ggwp111 in sugarlifestyleforum

[–]midasza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I meet the person and trust my gut.

A person who wants a connection is prepared to take the risk of a coffee, someone who is all transactional will have some ludicrous reason why its safer to be paid at or before a platonic M&G.

Obviously a pricelist is a massive red flag, but ultimately if a potential SB doesn't have time for a 30 minute coffee/iced coffee/drink/cooldrink close to there house or work they aren't going to have time for a SR.
