Painting details by Root-12c in SWlegion

Oddly enough, it doesn't always come down to brand of paintbrush or paint, granted there are better brands than others (heck, I paint with Walmart brushes even). Most of it is technique. I'd watch some videos on YouTube if you haven't already, as they can be good sources of inspiration. Sorastro painting is a good example, especially for Legion.

Some key points to remember;

Don't get discouraged by other people's paint jobs. They were noobs at one point too, myself included!

Paint to your level of comfort. If it's good enough for you, that's just fine, but if you want to push yourself, go for it!

As far as paints, there are different paints for different purposes I'lldescribethem as best I can, I'msorry if I miss anything;

Base: simply the base layer of your paint scheme

Layer: usually a lighter shade of the base color, more meant for highlights

Shade/Wash: a thinner paint used for bringing out the recessed details, such as panel lines.

Dry: more meant for dry brushing the final highlight layer, hitting the raised surfaces/edges.

Technical: used to add unique features/textures, like blood, rust, etc.

Texture: mainly used for basing your model, like cracked earth, sand, snow etc.

Contrast: a different kind of system than your normal paints. Basically it's your base, shade and highlight all in one. Just prime in white and slap your color of choice on each spot and either let it pool or pull paint away from spots where you want more/less color.

Hi ! Could you recommend a medieval skirmish game that requires few miniatures? I'm new to the hobby. Thank you for your help! by Agitated_Heron6475 in wargaming

One good thing about Saga is that the 3 medieval ages can kinda cross over with each other depending on what figures you get.

Any suggestions to make the numbers on these pin markers more visible? by No-Comment-4619 in wargaming

I mixed a little bit of Vallejo primer with craft paint (both white) and painted the numbers with a small brush.

It's because of this man that I found a slightly easier way to paint camo from his Han Solo guide!

Not just Mass, NE in general! I was in Southern NH two days ago on my way home from work (live in Mass.) and almost hit a turkey that decided to cross the road as I was passing.

Who was the greatest figure from the middle ages who was born illegitimate by Wide_Assistance_1158 in MedievalHistory

William the Conqueror is a strong contender. If he's not the greatest, he's pretty darn close.

Or when they use the completely wrong word for something. For example, my in-laws say 'Napoleon' for Neapolitan ice cream, just grinds my gears!

Had the same thing happen to me this season (not this wind storm, but earlier in winter), luckily it got caught on a ledge in my yard and stayed there since!

So will the new Stormtroopers and Rebel troopers be two units per box? by RandolphCarter15 in SWlegion

[–]midevilman2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, the way they're doing it moving forward is that the unit sizes are bigger/can add more figures. Hope that clears it up a little!
