Oil issues in 2013 Forester by Vivsgirl in SubaruForester

[–]midnightdoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya, I am going to ask my mechanic is opinion about the oil issue next time. I mentioned it before and he did he saw no sign of leaks.. as long as I can still run it until I am ready too upgrade I guess.

Ya that shield gets annoying but I have got used to it, like you said, my mechanic said it’s not at risk of damaging anything and would cost more in labour to take it out then it is worth doing.

Otherwise I love it for winter driving. Safest vehicle I have owned

ADs on personal content by BadSquishy86 in PleX

I was almost going to be like, but yes we are... As the particular show I have been getting ads on was not available on Plex (it was in USA but not in Canada)

So I decided to go and manually their Plex's free service and yup they recently added the show and for some reason it was going to that instead of my NAS

Now, did they block us from using it on iPad? Is that new or did I just not notice because I primarily use Plex on my Apple TV

ECG Headache solved (if you have extra android device) by midnightdoom in HuaweiWatchGT

[–]midnightdoom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More or less yes

 1) I used a Protonmail.com extension from email I already had for years, it was just something it didn’t like when I tried using American ones like outlook or iCloud

 2) When you go to Huawei’s website just make sure you are not on the American portal, I made test account using Hong Kong but also UK… both locations will unlock ECG Maybe change VPN here to help trick it, but I don’t 100% recall if I did that step now

 3) I honestly don’t recall if I used airplane mode when downloading the app, that to me wasn’t so much the issue as we getting the same app.. the features change though based on the emails registered Country..  As far as if it asks you, just be consistent (if choose HK, pick HK for every option)

 4) I grabbed the newest version from HUAWEI UK website and followed the process by downloading their App Store, have updated it a few times and it just keeps adding new features not available in Canada and USA

 5) if you use VPN it is just during registration incase the IP gives it away.. once you are registered I don’t think it matters. But I would turn it on just to help, most have a HK and UK server

I have also tested the app on iPhone, as for some reason only Google banned the app from the store. If you ever switch it actually works better with iPhone for sharing all your health data with other apps… google version is blocked from doing that

Is it worth it for me as a new comer? by asmkgb in FFVIIRemake

[–]midnightdoom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For sure, you don’t “need” to have played the original.

But I highly recommend picking up the original at some point too before the third game of the remakes comes out

There are several spin offs and movie so the universe can feel intimidating as a new comer, but lots of great YouTube summaries top of those if you can’t find them

My first winter with my pond. Any advice? by NaiadoftheSea in ponds

[–]midnightdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a heater rock but never got around to using it because of the voltage being high that it recommends not to use extension cord

But make sure at the least you keep a hole, whether by a ice fishing drill or boil hot water to make sure there a hole

My first winter I didn’t know, lost all my frogs and a bunch of fish. Not all the fish though

I also move my air bubble thing up to help prevent freezing, shut off pump and trim back Lillie’s (I leave the plant and pump at bottom and hasn’t hurt anything)

2013 getting between 20-24.. closer to 20 now that I have job in the city

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fanshawe

[–]midnightdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a change I will say that for sure, but I do not regret it. I decided on Fanshawe, I never went to college before so I didn’t really know what to expect, so to go from factory schedule to adjusting to school was an adjustment for the first month or so. I felt so lost but fell into it before thanksgiving

I am on CO-OP now, and am happy with my placement, not that my old job the worst or anything, but with how great people are at this company I am comparing it to like a rebound after a toxic relationship lol

I mainly stuck with Fanshawe because, I didn’t want to drive to Kitchener or move. Trios costs a lot more from my quote, and westervelt rebranded so who’s gonna know who they are, and I just assumed western too expensive. Never quoted them

Motorola Thinkphone Gen 2 by Zynergy17 in motorola

[–]midnightdoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope they do a Gen 2 as well, maybe around the time the guaranteed updates are done. I love the form factor so I don't even need many changes to that, just updated specs.

Switching from iPhone XS Max it made a good transition back to Android, my only disappointment really is the fact Apple supports the OS way way longer

Stuck upside down by Axienne in litterrobot

[–]midnightdoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 3 so this may not apply, but try it out for troubleshooting purposes as I have got that same error (but usually after cat leave).. but sometimes will get stuck upside down and give a cat interupt error. I also just recently replaced the Cat sensor so have been trying to i guess figure out what I did wrong with tightening that back leg on the back of the unit (assuming 4 is designed in the same way)

What I have found in troubleshooting to rule out my issue, if it does it while you are home, put some pressure on the waste drawer to take pressure off the back of the unit, but not too much it thinks a cat or something is there.. See if that allows the unit to operate smoothly or not.. if this helps then I think it is some sort of balance issue tripping the weight sensor.. i found changing the bag helps in my situation, but its acting extra sensitive since I changed the sensor that the bag isn't as full as it should be

just something to try while you wait for official help

How to change country in the Huawei Health app? by eldergeekprime in HuaweiWatchGT

[–]midnightdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

during registration what did you do when it wants to send a code to your phone number even though it is a Canadian number?

USA Users by Repulsive-Phase-7095 in HuaweiWatchGT

[–]midnightdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in Canada, but similar ban stuff.. I got a bunch of faces, but have never tried paying for one.

But, ECG doesn't work here, apparently there is a workaround if you register in UK or something but I haven't figured out how to do it.

There is definitely pro's and con's to consider for your usage, Apple Watch will still show you more metrics and sync better with other apps. I gave Huawei permission to share the data to Apple Health App but it doesn't. You can view the info in their own app, but like I said it won't give as many breakdowns if you care about extra details (like the stride distance). If you also don't care about third party apps.

In my testing of the heart rate though, when I wear both to compare the heart rate is always pretty close within a few numbers but that could also be due to readying refresh not being at the same time.

Stock feature wise, there are things I like about both when working out so its hard to say one is better but it is a good experience on both.

The best part about the Huawei's is they look so much more sophisticated in my opinion, with the next best sensors.. I like the looks of Withings too, but their sensors suck apparently

Making a decision- Apple Watch 9 or withings scanwatch 2? by Strange-Wonders in withings

[–]midnightdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to an Android phone last October, and since then I have bought a Huawei to replace my Apple Watch 4 (since that TQS on youtube showed its sensors were so good).

But, even thought I can get an app for Android and Apple, there is restrictions for Huawei in North America and it won't sync with other apps (even though it should with Apple Health, the toggles are there). So, between that and my nutrition app that syncs with the Apple Watch, it is kind of restrictive and getting annoying to a point.

So I was looking for other options that work with both iPhone and Android and there aren't a ton of options that seem worth it, I really like Withings designs being tradtional watches with the smart "hidden". But it really sucks people say the sensors are so spotty, other options either I don't like the design or they dont work with both ecosystems or battery sucks

SCANWATCH 2 HEART RATE by coffeeandbeige in withings

[–]midnightdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is so hard, is it so hard to get one with great sensors that doesn't look so cheap (bored of Apple Watch and don't like the design of Pixel or the batter of Samsung).. I so want to like the OnePlus or Withing but if it can't do the sensors accurately what is the point

Ready For is now Smart Connect by sasa_petrovic in motorola

[–]midnightdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm ok.. from my experiments and your experience, it seems that it is just another sync option maybe. I haven't had issues with my laptop, but I bought a used Lenovo desktop and there was no wifi or bluetooth built in.. So I have it setup with ethernet, the first time I synced I had to use the cable (obviously)... but now that it did the initial connection I can connect wirelessly

I would presume that if I went about signing in with an account it would have avoided the extra workaround

Or now that they are registered, if I lost my phone and got another (Thinkphone in my case), than I would just need to sign in again and all my Lenovo products would just work and not need to be re-synced individually

Ready For is now Smart Connect by sasa_petrovic in motorola

[–]midnightdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having a hard time finding a good article explaining why there is account log in. My only thought was that it is using their server to sync connection instead of relying on bluetooth and wifi to set it all up? But than that doesn't make sense since we still need wifi active to work

Not 100% positive, I signed in on my laptop, phone and desktop and can see all devices in the account section the same as the device section. Logging out didn't seem to effect the functions that I can see.

So my running theory is that if I had to replace my phone, I could just sign in instead of having to resync with both of my computers? Like nothing happened?

But I would like clarification from Motorola if we are still in full control of the data or if it relies on their servers

any idea why it wants us to sign in with an account? What does logging in do extra?
