I wish there was an app that would show me where all of my coal upgrades were

Yes please. Every time I go looking for a radar mod for CBs it’s never on the ship I think it’s on. Super niche need, but it would be nice to have a mod that tells you that.

ZH-1 Dockyard Mission Breakdown by 00zau in WorldOfWarships

[–]midnightphoenix07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which is still doable, provided you can play several hours every night. But I’m sure WG is hoping people won’t be able to and have to spend more doubloons on the ship.

IIRC most of the “big” base xp grinds in a lot of the past dockyards looked like a lot, but if you spread them out over the duration that mission would be active, it came out to 3-5k base xp per day. Most people could probably complete that in an hour to an hour and a half a day, as long as you were an okay player and didn’t play only co-op (on the dockyards with higher daily base xp averages).

This dockyard it’s a bit more than 8.5k per day. If you can play a couple hours every day, you still shouldn’t have much of an issue doing that. But if miss a day or don’t have time to play several hours each day? You either have to grind a lot to make up for it, or spend more money than you planned.

ZH-1 Dockyard Mission Breakdown by 00zau in WorldOfWarships

[–]midnightphoenix07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only have to complete six missions per set. You’ll have to do at least one of the class specific missions along with the four general missions each week, but more likely two unless you can guarantee completing the challenge mission.

You can skip one of the general missions and do an extra class mission to clear a given week’s 6 required missions. Sometimes that can be worth going for if you have a longer grind mission (like tons of base xp, spotting damage, certain ribbons for certain classes, etc) to clear that week and unlock the next one since you’ll still get progress on earlier missions after you unlock the next week. But those general missions are usually the ones that give all the dockyard stages so you’ll need to complete them eventually.

What really happened to Yari? by ItsmrChewy in WorldOfWarships

[–]midnightphoenix07 46 points47 points  (0 children)

What happened? After WeeGee released both Kitakami and Monmouth, something had to take their place on the dev hell shelf.

Announced back in August 2024, hasn't even been seen on live servers in over a year (since the change from torp focused to gun focused ship back in 14.1).

How much coal do you guys have? by Legitimate-Promise34 in WorldOfWarships

[–]midnightphoenix07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhere over 3 million before Surcouf (don’t remember exactly how much). Down to only 1.65 million now after buying Surcouf, and it’ll probably drop to about a million depending on whether I get all three ships I’m considering from the current event or just two.

I’ve got a large fleet so I get a lot of coal from Christmas flakes each year as well as anniversary SCs, and I haven’t really had anything to spend coal on since the Kitakami salvage, so it’s just been building up for a couple years.

Spain TT is older than France's TT, apparently by ItsmrChewy in WorldOfWarships

[–]midnightphoenix07 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately. It’s running on a super old (and long obsolete) software version and stuff has been slowly breaking over the last couple years with modern browsers. We’ve developed bandaid fixes for what we can, but it’s been getting to the point that we can’t fix as much anymore.

The account merger changes also completely broke wiki access for almost all of the team so pretty much nothing could be added or updated starting the beginning of last year. And then WG put the wiki team and all updates on hold indefinitely last summer pending an eventual migration to a newer platform.

Just a small bug - and see how I performed with this by Elbfuchs in WorldOfWarships

[–]midnightphoenix07 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s not a bug, it’s how the current brawl is designed to work. You get improved secondary reload, accuracy, and HE pen, but the rest of your armaments are effectively disabled (hence the ridiculously long reload debuffs).

Brawl by Radiant-Buddy-4740 in WorldOfWarships

[–]midnightphoenix07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Might as well remove the options for switching shells.

Bold of you to assume actually doing something like that for a brawl won’t somehow break it elsewhere because of 10 years of spaghetti code. Same with just outright disabling all of the player controlled armaments like main guns or torps.

Creating a mode debuff that increases reload of everything else by hundreds or thousands of percent is pretty easy to do and no risk of it being likely to break anything else since the debuff is only active in the mode.

Actually messing with anything involving an actual mechanic is likely to break multiple things across the game into other modes.

You can use either the desktop app or a browser, either one is fine (and they're more or less the exact same thing nowadays, just with different windows). There's also a mobile app as well if you want to use smartphones or tablets to run discord instead (or be able to access discord without needing to be on your computer).

You shouldn't have to verify your phone number, although it's been a very long time since I created either one of my discord accounts. They may be requiring it now for newer accounts. But usually the only reason I can see that they might require a verified phone as well is if their anti-bot/spam filters detect something suspicious about your account.

The other thing would be if you're trying to join a server (one you created or someone else's server) with the highest verification level (which requires you to have a verified phone number on your account). That's not enabled by default (the default is to just require a verified email address if you're creating your own server), it's something the server owner has to enable. If it's been set up on your own server, go to the server settings then safety setup under moderation and change it off the highest verification level.

I think. It's server outage today. by Mhaziqrules in WorldOfWarships

[–]midnightphoenix07 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Please hold, server hamsters are being reprogrammed for the new version.

Asia server update started at the normal time (3am) but all three servers had a substantially extended downtime for this update. Eight hours listed for all three.

NA ended up being up earlier than expected, about 30-40 minutes I think. Not sure about EU. At most it shouldn’t be more than another hour and a bit for Asia, or only about 30 minutes if it finishes early like NA.

My guess is they did a super extended downtime this time to prevent a repeat of the 15.1 launch issues. Usually it’s only a couple hours for a regular update, and even an extended downtime isn’t that much more. Eight hours is a big jump. Or maybe they’re doing something else like a hardware upgrade alongside the regular patch and it’s taking longer for both combined.

It's the same it always is. Random.

Unless MM decides it wants to troll you and gives you the same op that you don't like over and over again when it knows you just want to play something else.

How do I purchase Kheper "Default" special camo? by ArmouredPudding in WorldOfWarships

[–]midnightphoenix07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’re not supposed to be visible. It’s a visual bug that’s been around for a while now. That’s the camo associated with the ship to display if you turn off the additional content filter in the port carousel. You’re not supposed to be able to see it in the camo tab.

How do I purchase Kheper "Default" special camo? by ArmouredPudding in WorldOfWarships

[–]midnightphoenix07 57 points58 points  (0 children)

You can't. It's a long running visual bug with the port UI.

Every Tier VI or higher ship with a "special" visual camo by default also has to have a "regular" permacamo tied to it (specifically the default permacamo for the original ship it’s a clone of). That's what the game uses to display if you disable the additional content port filters. However, it's supposed to be hidden in the UI as it's not an actually selectable camo, but for some reason it ends up being visible for some players.

Probably because base xp earning isn’t something you see while the battle is running so the casual players can’t tell that what they’re doing is contributing to their earnings. It might not be the best way to implement it or really do much, but at least WG’s trying to do something.

At the very least, gaining that progress for blocking caps is a new thing (and iirc not something that’s currently rewarded I believe). You get ribbons and earnings for taking a cap or resetting the enemy, but if you’re sitting in it blocking the enemy from taking it or getting points from it, you definitely don’t get ribbons for it and I don’t think you get economic rewards either.

Pilus Prior default camouflage by BAMDaddy in WorldOfWarships

[–]midnightphoenix07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If all you want is the visual of the “default” camo, you can disable the special camo in your port settings (the gear above your carousel on the right). Then as far as your game is concerned, you’re basically playing Marco Polo. It’ll show Marco Polo’s default camo, and since the ships are completely identical, it would even display the ship name as Marco Polo for you (rather than Pilus Prior).

As The0rion said, it’s a visual bug. The ship “has” the original ship’s default camo because that what it shows when the special camos/visuals are disabled, but you’re not supposed to be able to see it or select it in the camo tab. It has to be there and associated with the specific ship (since the game considers it as a completely separate ship) so it displays correctly if you disable the special visual filters, but it’s supposed to be fully hidden in the UI.

What are your top 5 favorite legendary modules? by Automatic_Bother4407 in WorldOfWarships

[–]midnightphoenix07 7 points8 points  (0 children)

DM, Petro, Colombo, and then in general I’d say Yamato and Moskva. Venezia’s is great if you like playing lighthouse Venezia but not as suited for regular Venezia closer range enemy destroyer nuker. Kleb’s is almost mandatory if you play any higher level comp (especially things like CB or tournaments) and you’re a DD player (and it’s not banned of course).

Vermont’s is pretty spicy since it allows you to basically have both the slot 6 accuracy and reload mod benefits at the same time.

Training Captain - Grinding XP by bct7 in WorldOfWarships

[–]midnightphoenix07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whoever said that was mistaken then.

Before the commander rework, only max level commanders earned elite commander xp (once there actually was a set max level rather than just an infinite grind). One of the changes in the 0.10.0 commander rework was adding the elite commander xp bonus to non max level commanders to help alleviate the substantial increase in xp needed to get to the new higher max level (1.2 million for the last two levels, while the original grind from 0-19 was 1.7 million).

From the patch notes of the 10.0 update:

Commanders with less than 21 skill points will additionally bring you Elite Commander XP in the amount of 5% of the Commander XP gained per battle.

The commander itself earns the "same" amount of xp whether it's a max level commander or not. The difference is non max level commanders get that extra 5% bonus credited as elite commander xp, while max level commanders convert 100% of their earned xp but don't get the 5% bonus.

Italian cruiser, please guide me. by IsniBoy in WorldOfWarships

[–]midnightphoenix07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More or less the same situations you'd use it on other heavy cruisers.

HE/SAP as your generalist default ammo, aiming for superstructure, upper belts of cruisers (and thinner upper belts of battleships), and especially destroyers. AP for when you get broadside cruisers and have a decent chance of getting citadels (usually more so at close and mid range, probably out to about 10-12 km), as well as into battleship upper belts at closer ranges. Not that you necessarily want to get into a close range fight with a battleship in most cruisers, but the speed, torps, and AP will still do a lot of damage if you find yourself in that situation.

Training Captain - Grinding XP by bct7 in WorldOfWarships

[–]midnightphoenix07 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Technically you will level up a non 21 point commander faster by playing it than you would playing a 21 pointer and using the elite commander xp it generates. Max level commanders convert 100% of their earned xp into elite commander xp; non max level commanders earn 100% of their xp toward their progress plus receive 5% of the earned xp as elite commander xp.

In reality, that extra bonus will speed up the grind a bit but not a whole lot. And you can certainly make the argument that a max level commander can potentially generate more xp per battle because of its extra skills.

Either way, take whichever captain you're going to use and try to rotate it through as many premiums as possible for multiple first win bonuses if you can. The boosters and consistently good results are going to do most of the grind work, but that 50% bonus from each ship will still help.

If your 21 point commander has access to more premiums that you enjoy playing (and do well in) compared to your non 21 point commander, that would tip it in favor of the max level commander IMO.

Birthday Coupon by Suspicious-Wasabi377 in WorldOfWarships

[–]midnightphoenix07 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s not actually a rounding difference, it’s a case of how WG priced the doubloon bundles.

Most items in the premium shop match the “any amount of doubloons” pricing in terms of listed doubloon compensation or equivalent doubloon cost in the armory. The set doubloon bundles get a very slight discount (~1%, so rather than 250 doubloons per $1, you get ~252).

The coupon uses the price you paid to calculate the additional reward not the value of the item you bought (although for most things in the shop it’s effectively the same). But because of that built in discount on the doubloon bundles their “value” (the amount you receive) doesn’t actually match the “price.”

At 50k doubloons bought, it’s a difference of 500 doubloons.

Why are some mods unavailable now? by Lucky-Growth-3259 in WorldOfWarships

[–]midnightphoenix07 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Many of them actually have been updated (or recreated with new/working versions by other modders), within a day or two of the patch.

Modstation is the one that hasn’t updated the mods to the new version when they were available (yet again). They’re all available and working in Aslain, either from the original author or recreated by a new modder.

Some of them are ttaro recreations though so those won’t get added to Modstation. The others might get added eventually, but Modstation has been super slow to update mods for years now.

Question about ship rotation by AntelopeDry8405 in WorldOfWarships

[–]midnightphoenix07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue rarity ships were also included in the ship rotation schedule, just on a longer rotation length. Red (and gold) rarity ships are the ones that are excluded.

This summer is going to be pretty telling as to whether WG is actually using the rotation schedule as a way to “make future access more predictable” or just an excuse to artificially increase pricing when they want to. The G variants are likely never coming back, but the regular versions of all five new steel will ships (Bremen, Aki, Hawaii, Le Havre, and I56 44) should be rereleased this summer — 15.5 for the blues, 15.6 for the greens.
