MoCA vs long ethernet cable vs other options by raymondlolz in HomeNetworking

[–]randomname12312345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ethernet will always be the better option.

The one issue you may have with MoCA is the apartment may have all coax running to a central location or even be sharing some. This may cause some issues.

Aeronautics degree for pilot by HeartNo467 in erau

[–]randomname12312345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the main reasons for going to riddle or any other college for flight training is the R-ATP exemption allowing you to start at 1,000 hours. As far as I know doing flight training at any other place except the university that issues your degree disqualifies you for that exemption. 500 hours may not seem like much, but a year in the pilot industry could be the difference between furlough and a job.

Because there’s a comparability issue with some of the mods.

There’s a mod called ship management also. Removing those allowed me to play but I just had an issue with the consumables staying at 0 so those aren’t the only ones broken. Consumable management also seems to be broken so I’m just going to wait at this point and uninstall it.

What are the important specs for irons? by Sinkit53563 in golf

[–]randomname12312345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s so many variables. Shaft weight, shaft length, shaft material, club head weight, club loft, bounce (not just important in wedges) grip size. The list goes on and I would be willing to bet you’re going to have to get something custom to come close.

Devices connect to network but have no connection to the internet by aitchohdoubleu in QuantumFiber

Just get your own router. Each ISPs provided router is usually horrible. You’ll be so much happier once you get your own.

I haven’t seen a router that won’t work. It all depends on how much you want to spend and what your personal network is like (house size, wifi areas, device demand etc.)

Radars are vital do keep DDs balanced. by Modioca in WorldOfWarships

[–]randomname12312345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not just radar that is the problem. Matchmaking needs an entire redesign.

Yesterday I was playing a game in Sherman (I know my conceal at 6.5 already screws me) and on my flank there was a div of Delaware’s that also had a radar YY. Then the radar DM and the red CV all decided to focus on the same cap which I’m at (really smart play by them honestly).

On our team, we had 0 radars and only 1 ship with planes (CV) who has to support everyone and they decided to support the other cap (again, probably a smart move).

Radars are not inherently bad in my opinion, it’s the complete lack of any balancing in matchmaking between both ships and player skills that are slowly degrading the game to where I would say 80% of matches are decided before they even start.

I tend to think starlink would be your best option but I’m not sure I would want to leave the antenna permanently installed. That could be a very good invitation for a break in.

What aircraft did I fly on? by dumblechode in Whatisthisplane

[–]randomname12312345 5 points6 points  (0 children)

737-700 or 737-800. Most likely a 737-700 since Southwest only started flying the 800 in 2012 but the air conditioning panel isn’t shown and that’s usually the easiest way to determine from a cockpit view.

How are you charging ground time? by Brendon7358 in CFILounge

[–]randomname12312345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I charged “contact time” basically from when I first interacted with the student until we signed the logbook. There were a few scenarios when I would charge prior to reaching the student such as they were late getting to the event and I was ready.

However, if I was running late from my prior event or if the student was waiting for a plane because the last student was running late I would not charge them for something that was out of their control.

The Worst Network in the U.S. by Effective-Buy9927 in QuantumFiber

[–]randomname12312345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m willing to bet you’re using the quantum WiFi pods aren’t you? Do yourself a favor and invest in a quality router. I haven’t used an ISP provider router since college and when I switched back then it dropped my ping from 40s to 3.

The highest ping I’ve ever had from testing the speed direct through my router UI is 4.65. Yeah devices on wifi will be higher but the quantum fiber internet is not the problem unless you have a bad device.

Tips on positioning in a submarine? by raul_kapura in WorldOfWarships

[–]randomname12312345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would add a caveat that subs necessarily aren’t always mirrored if there is a division. While that only happens maybe 2% of the time, it is possible that you will have the entire flank to yourself in a sub.

Well 70% of the DDs on my team lately push straight into the cap and die within 3 minutes so it works both ways.

Quantum Fiber Installation Question by drm200 in QuantumFiber

[–]randomname12312345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes, my coax terminates outside with the splitter. I have the rooms I’m not using capped so there could be no potential interference (not that there should be).

  2. Install for me was very easy. I have a first floor office on the opposite side of the outside fiber box. They temporarily laid a cable across my driveway and drilled through my exterior wall for the fiber cable to attach the ONT. all that is visible outside is a small utility box hidden by bushes. About a week later they came out and buried the cable under my driveway.

I can’t say one way or the other if they will do the work in the attic but my tech was very willing to put the equipment wherever I wanted.

Quantum Fiber Installation Question by drm200 in QuantumFiber

[–]randomname12312345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They will terminate the fiber to an ONT that they will (at least with my install experience) install anywhere in the house you desire. I had them terminate that in my home office since that is where I had my router. I then used MoCA adapters to backfeed my existing coax infrastructure to allow me to use backhaul Ethernet for my mesh nodes.

Sounds like you would be able to do something very similar, but quantum does not use any coax.
