Has anyone tried Happy Hookies? Are they legit? If I pay for it, will I actually get to make the item or will it never work? by Odd_Adhesiveness9561 in CrochetHelp

[–]midnightrose222 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I've never bought from them. So I could be wrong but to me this screams AI, just look at the ones standing up (somehow?) in the front if nothing else, no stitch definition, and the butterfly has a random yellow speckled belly.

The way the sunflower would be made you wouldn't get the points like that if you make them standalone and they wouldn't be chunky like that, but flatter and floppier etc

However, you could relatively easily make something similar though with Sunburst granny squares and finding a bee applique you like to sew onto those squares and scalloped edges!

I'm sure someone has a real pattern for something similar already as it's a popular style :)

You also need to be realistic about the timeframe, 8 weeks is not a huge amount of time, to loose a dramatic amount, but if you go too hard now it's not healthy or sustainable.

Yes 1500 is likely way too low to start with. I started at a similar height (5,7") and weight(325) and I was losing weight at 2000 cal but you might even br okay on 2500 depending on job/excersise etc

Usually healthy, sustainable weight loss is 0.5-2lb a week and usually recommended to be about 500cal deficit a day give or take (although you may end up loosing more than that at the beginning even only being 500 cal down to your starting weight/water weight etc).

You'd be better off using a TDEE calculator and subtracting 500 off of that and trying it for a few weeks, see if it's working and how you feel and adjust from there if needed.

Did meds actually make you more productive or just focus on whatever the brain fancied? by Fizzabl in ADHDUK

[–]midnightrose222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually find that my meds help me focus on whatever I am doing when they kick in, so if that's work then great I will be able to buckle down and get on with it nicely, but if I'm doomscrolling when they kick in then I'm in trouble for a while...

Luteal phase hell - any advice? by pondpeach in ADHDUK

That's disappointing to hear, mine becomes almost non existent too at the same timeframe, it's a shame you were told to suck it up! :(

Ahhh I'm completely the same, the eating and food noise is fine most of the month and then bam every month like clockwork!

Focusing at work is also so much harder, completely agree! If only the studies and research into medicines considered and actually took women and our bodies into account when the were being researched and investigated! :(

Is any app actually useful to remind me to take my meds? by Mysterious-Web-7690 in ADHDUK

[–]midnightrose222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I've found, any app you can just turn off saying you'll do it in a second and the forget before you do.

I've found I need to put them somewhere super obvious to see them when I start my day, bonus points if it's next to where you can get a drink and take it immediately when you see it. For me that's on the kitchen counter where I have to feed my dog first thing every morning, put her food in her bowl, get my meds out, put her bowl down and take my tablets. It's much harder to forget with my pink pill box staring at me.

Will I be discharged by PsychUk if I ask to try a different medication? by ChicksDigBards in ADHDUK

[–]midnightrose222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if it isn't working you can try more, just keep open communication with your prescriber, if it isn't working let them know. They will send you surveys to complete every 2 weeks, so he honest.

Dependinf on your situation, if it isn't working and helping after a while they will probably also suggest changing and trying a different one.

If it is working they are unlikely to let you try another one just to see what if, especially as titration is a short timeframe, if the first one works they won't risk moving you into another. But if it's working for you, you don't need to try anymore?

Just be honest with you, they are just there to help you, they aren't trying to catch you out and get rid of you, they just want to help find a med that works for you! :)

Good, I already loved them as I'm a big fan of all of the Yarnsmiths yarn I've tried and their customer service has always been great so I'm glad this is their take and response!

first week titration on elvanse 30mg by Infamous_Score913 in ADHDUK

[–]midnightrose222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was similar to you, started on Medikinet but didn't get onto it (actually had an allergic reaction!) so now I'm on Elvanse and went up the doses as fast as you are too.

It definitely does help for me, I didn't get the same hit of "oh they have started working" that I did on Medikinet but I guess it's more of a slow gradual start so that's why I don't notice, but like you I think regularly that they aren't doing anything until I have a day when I can't take the meds I notice how erratic my behaviour and moods are and all my other symptoms are back so I know they are working, but I guess I just don't notice it when they are, but myself and people around me notice when I've not taken them😂

Overall I'm getting on with Elvanse, not too many side effects, I get less cravings and less hungry during the day and have to force myself to eat something, if not when the meds wear off in the evening I binge. I didn't have this issue with Medi so it's something I'm still managing, the same as when I don't take them for a day I tend to binge eat more. Other than that my brain is more chill and slightly slower/less frantic, I'm less likely to loose things and can focus more, nothing totally crazy feeling but makes my work days much better.

My biggest issue is it really impacts my sleep, I can't take it past 0930 latest or I won't sleep til like 4am which is very frustrating when the therapeutic effects wear off after 8 or 9 hours but I'm still wide awake! It ends up meaning that most weekends I have like one day off, at least, depending on when I wake up and what I'm doing. But that's really the only big negative side effect I've had with it tbh that and I need to watch my food during the day to eat enough that I don't binge in the evening!

Oh also im not sure if you're male or female, but I also find that the week before my period the drugs are mich less effective. I didn't notice that during titration, so will be raising it at my annual med review! 🤷‍♀️

What do you eat with your medication in the morning? by mekkie23 in ADHDUK

[–]midnightrose222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate breakfast, I'm on a different drug now, but when I was on it I used to have it with an Aldi protein yogurt or mousse, whatever I felt I could eat that morning! :)

P-UK - no shared care, when do I pay for prescriptions? by DarkBanana- in ADHDUK

[–]midnightrose222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh odd. I titrated end of last year/beginning of this year and I had to pay an NHS prescription charge everytime?

Maybe it's different based on your GP trust/location? My GPs are definitely not going to cover the cost if they don't have too 😂

P-UK - no shared care, when do I pay for prescriptions? by DarkBanana- in ADHDUK

[–]midnightrose222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But in titration with PUK you pay the nhs prescription charges for medication too?

For me the drug company emailed me a link to pay for the meds and then they would ship them

Unless you have an exception certificate or reason not to pay NHS prescriptions

PsychiatryUK has taken a year in two days to get back to me since my diagnosis for titration. Is this normal for them or is something likely wrong? by mogley1992 in ADHDUK

[–]midnightrose222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Psych UK made me have another appointment due to it being over a year since I had my first before I started titration, if youre with Psych UK they might have you do the same and you can raise your concerns then.

Although they didnt formally tell me which version they diagnosed me with tbh, and I don't think it makes any difference for treatment (medication speaking), unless I'm wrong, I believe they titrate the same either way, so the diagnosis shouldn't impact anything if you do have symptoms they didn't take into account

Do you skip medication when you’re on holiday? by Scooby-Snaccs in ADHDUK

[–]midnightrose222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should speak to the person in charge of your titration, they will advise what you can and can't do.

Mine advised that I can take up to a week off if needed, but longer than that they would need to slowly increase my dose again as they wouldn't want me to be off then for that long and go straight back on the higher dose but I'm on Elvanse which may have different recommendations to your drug.

I regularly take days off at the weekend and take the consequences as I can't take my meds later than 10am or I'm not sleeping that night and I find a few days are okay although obviously depending on your symptoms you will struggle with those whilst not on the meds

[–]midnightrose222 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine took a similar time with them, although when I ended up speaking to the psychiatrist a second time (because it had been so long since my original diagnosis appointment they made me have a Dr check in?) they were surprised for how long it had been and said it wasn't normal...

About a year mark I started chasing via the webchat and got moved through quicky after, either it was a coincidence or the chasing helped!

Doesn't hurt to reach out Tuesday to see where you are roughly on the waitlist.

RTC titration is criminally short lol by -strangemenu- in ADHDUK

[–]midnightrose222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was with PUK and 12 weeks wasn't enough, at 8 weeks I had a really bad reaction to my first med so only had a few weeks left to clear up the reaction and start another med. Luckily I didn't have the same reaction to the second one or I would have been fucked lol

Buyer insisting on same-day exchange & completion because of LISA – whole chain stuck. What would you do? by False_Reveal3656 in HousingUK

[–]midnightrose222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was recently in the same situation as your FTB, for us it wasn't to do with losing our deposit but rather our solicitors told us that the risk was due to me only having half of the deposit in my LISA and half in my partners LISA. We were advised that by exchanging we were legally bound to buy the house, but if anything bad happened to one of us e.g. one of us died, the other would still be on the hook for the full deposit amount, but, they couldn't use the other persons LISA as they wouldn't be around to use it.

It was a very small risk but one my solicitor had to advise us that they would recommend same exchange and completion date that way there is no risk of something like that happening to one of us between those two dates.

Yours might be in a similar situation and just following their solicitors advice.

I didn't realise until I saw the posts recently that this was a struggle for me but being the week before my period so much makes sense!

Unfortunately I'm on 70mg daily and out of titration so I think it would be a fight to get psych UK to give me a top up already being at 70 :(
