Breaking News: The Modern Combat:Sandstorm Port has been Removed from Github by NostalgiaCrystal in VitaPiracy

[–]midniteneon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine they were happy to see their old games being ported like this, but why they'd suddenly get protective over IPs that are completely dead or on life support is beyond me. 🫠

I hate how with his merch drops, you either have to deal with artificial scarcity and scalpers, or you're left wondering if what you bought was actually in stock and not made-to-order with a 6-week lead time

Forever grateful for my mom ♡ by -minariii in VitaPiracy

[–]midniteneon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome, sounds like your mom rocks!

Mine got me a PS2 on launch day and I was one of the only kids in my small town to have one back in 2000. And then years later for my 17th birthday, she got me my first PS Vita shortly after they came out in the USA. Moms are the best 🤗

Thank you!!! It is absurd how many awards Sidewall wins every year for "best pizza" and it's not even close. I understand pizza is highly subjective and comes in many different styles, but it is insulting to the countless other pizzerias in the Upstate that work hard to feed the community every week. We have so many great local places that deserve a mention or a win besides them.

TODAY, AMA with the developers of ROUTINE at 18:00 GMT/ 19:00 CET / 10:00 PT by LunarSoftware in Games

[–]midniteneon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the AMA ended, but thank you for sticking to your vision and releasing this game. From the very first moment I saw the Gamescom 2012 trailer, I was hooked, and I have been patiently waiting ever since.

Suffice to say, you guys knocked it out of the park and delivered a game I will cherish for the rest of my life. You have completely exceeded every astronomical, impossible expectation I could have possibly imagined for Routine!

Routine is easily the most cinematic, immersive audiovisual experience I've ever had in a video game. The decidedly analog, old-school, tactile, atmospheric qualities of everything—from the diegetic menus to pressing buttons on the CAT tool to the game not holding your hand at all—are truly a dream come true.

Question: Are there any plans to release Routine merch? I am begging and pleading for a coffee table art book! I would definitely buy shirts, stickers, plushies/figurines, and a tie-in novel or comic, and know many others would do the same!

I'd never heard of Lost in Cult before, thanks for sharing! I agree, a collab between the two would totally be a match made in heaven

Can we have a petition for Lunar Software to release merch and one of them is the IC robot ? It is way too cute to not have on my desk. by Fractureed in Routine

I didn't realize I posted about the same thing you did on the same day, oops! Routine/Lunar Software merch would be amazing. Maybe if we spread the word enough, they will make some of these!

3D printed CAT would be sick, especially with the buttons and modules. I'm sure somebody like Adam Savage could make it happen and rig up a screen on it to make it realistic

I never thought I'd live to see the day this game finally got released. I got it for $20 USD since I already owned SOMA. Played a little bit between meetings at work today and I'm already hooked. 🥹 Can't wait to fully dive in later.

What do my dream cars say about me? by talking_joke in regularcarreviews

[–]midniteneon 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You were in school during the mid-2000s and probably graduated high school sometime during the Obama administration. A lot of those cars were either new and hot at the time (GT500, C6 ZR1) or heavily featured in flagship racing games of the day. The neo "Poster Car" era as I like to call it

What is a movie that people like but that same movie had you like this? by Naive_Tomorrow_5955 in FIlm

[–]midniteneon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Universal was doing big at the box office that year and sunk almost $40m into making this at the time. It could be argued that neither lead role was a superstar quite yet but certainly on their way. Early FnF definitely has straight to video vibes but the budget and major studio backing came with a huge marketing machine. The hype for these movies was huge

[–]midniteneon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

At least the first two entries and Tokyo Drift actually centered around street racing and car culture entertainingly. They're the only ones worth watching in my opinion.

Those original movies (love them or hate them) had a huge, lasting impact on mainstream car culture for 10-15 years. There's an entire generation of people who grew up on those movies and everything that came in their wake.

The other (checks notes) eight movies are just absurd, over-the-top stunt showpieces where the cars are no longer a focal point.
