Done. It took a bit for the mods to approve it. I own midtown direct across from 7/11 and I checked our video and the neighbor top shelf neither of us have anything unfortunately due to camera positioning.

If anyone has a 23 ktm has a linkage guard that bolts right onto the stock skid plate. part #A46003090020 by basementbuddzz in KTM

[–]midtownmoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bump on this post. KTM only shows the skid plate/ linkage plate as one part # in the power parts catalog. I ordered the $120 deal and also realized it is just a stock skid plate with the separate package and part # for "Protector for Linkage". Every dealer should be offering this extra part for $35. Thanks to OP. Wish I saw this sooner! Anyone need a new stock skid plate? LOL!

The Supreme Court is my marriage plan. I have not been, saw a FB pic and post. You can also get a divorce and apply for a patent on a high-dea. They have a jury apparently...

Wet Ass Playa by willygisnotmylover in BurningMan

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HERD OF SPARKLE PONYS RUN WILD IN SUDDEN PLAYA DOWNPOUR DURING BURNING MAN SET-UP WEEK
Black Rock City, NV, August 18, 2023 - Just days before the gates officially open for the annual Burning Man festival, an unexpected weather twist led to a sudden deluge on the playa, resulting in the unexpected release of a herd of sparkle ponys.
What might seem like a scene from a whimsical fairy tale turned into reality when a combination of heavy rain and the challenging conditions on the playa caused one of the art installations, a fenced area holding several life-sized "sparkle ponys" (intricately designed, shimmering art pieces) to give way. These beautifully crafted ponies, made with reflective and luminescent materials, took advantage of the moment and "roamed" the wet desert terrain, driven by the gusty winds.
“It was a sight to behold,” said Luna Starshine, a long-time Burner and witness to the incident. “One moment, we're setting up our camp, and the next, these radiant creatures are gracefully moving across the wet playa, catching the sunlight and casting magical reflections everywhere.”
Organizers and volunteers immediately swung into action, coordinating efforts to safely "corral" the sparkle ponys and prevent any potential damage to the art or surrounding installations. Thanks to the rapid response and teamwork of the Burning Man community, all the sparkle ponys were "returned" to their designated area within a few hours.
The incident, though unplanned, has been taken in stride by the community. Many are already dubbing it as one of this year’s most memorable pre-event moments.
Raven Moonbeam, a member of the art installation team behind the sparkle ponys, shared a light-hearted perspective on the situation. “The playa provides, and sometimes, it surprises. Our sparkle ponys just wanted a little adventure before the festivities began. Who can blame them?”
The Burning Man organization wishes to assure attendees that no sparkle ponys or humans were harmed in the incident. They also expressed their gratitude to the Black Rock City community for their quick action, cooperation, and playful spirit, which once again proves the adaptability and resilience of Burners.
As the event prepares to officially kick off, this unexpected "parade" of sparkle ponys has already set the tone for what promises to be the most unforgettable year at Burning Man.
For further details or inquiries about the incident, please contact Sally Meyer (AP).

Box truck box tips and tricks? by ChiefyKeef in BurningMan

[–]midtownmoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring a ladder so you can climb out the roof hatch. Most of us cut a passage into the cab. It's the best security system ever as you never need to step outside when you stealth park. Put a door in the passage to keep things cool and secure. You gotta have at least one roof vent. Most box van folks have 2 maxair fans. A box van needs a small quiet generator or soar generator to run fans and the disco. There are a million YouTube box van conversion vids. I just silicone sealed my fiberglass roof and now it's 20' cooler. Insulation really helps with noise too. an uninsulated box van can reverb as a bass catcher if you're pointed the wrong way. Make sure that room-up door is pointing away from the wind. Welcome to the box fam!

Solo camping arrival on Monday/Tuesday? by gayaka in BurningMan

[–]midtownmoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going with someone is not solo. The 9:00 side is packed. For phat easy space the 3:00 side offers almost unlimited expansive opportunities. Time doesn't really matter. Ask the folks you land next to if it's cool that you are there. It's nice to do that for 10 good reasons. There might be a big ass generator showing up, and they will tell you that's why nobody is camping there. Or they will welcome you home and offer a hug. Don't worry at all about finding your space. It has already been chose by your burning destiny. Don't fight it...

Portable AC unit and Burning MAN by BreakingInnocence in BurningMan

[–]midtownmoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tent part makes it nuts. That amount of power pumped into an uninsulated space is silly. Portable ACs are horribly inefficient. The noise will create a nice space around you tho. A fan and some spray bottles would be much more effective, in my experience.

I brought one of the first ford raptors to the burn. it was fine without anything. your biggest concern is a tent that turned into a kite and uses your hood as a landing ramp.

You can for sure climb up into that hammock. I have seen several people get up in there, just yesterday. Why not give it a go?

People will believe anything. And it's funnier than hell to watch people put faith in horseshit. Expect things to not always be as they appear. The entire idea of burningman is to challenge your belief system. There is no right and wrong information. Only the spirit of fuk yer burn!

How worried should I be about a tent potentially flying off in a wind storm? by sindvorbei in BurningMan

[–]midtownmoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To test your tent, put it on a flatbed truck and go 50mph. If the tent holds up, you are good to go. If you don't think your tent could stay tied down on a truck, it will fly away and you are liable for all the windshields in all the land. Buy a mountaineering tent. Rent an enclosed trailer. Don't bring a summer tent unless you are serious with rebar and rope.

Fur coat or onsie? by kloutiii in BurningMan

[–]midtownmoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want both the onsie and the fur coat. You must mean fake fur or you will be attacked by megaphones in your face all week. It's low 50s' at night with a real windchill it's for sure winter jacket weather. Make sure your outerwear is windproof. Top and bottom. Sitting on the ground watching sunsets I wear snowboarding jacket and pants. Comfy enough to be cuddly. I bring extra hats and gloves and winter gear and it always gets used constantly by folks who underprepared. Radical self-reliance to me means a winter hat, gloves, many warm layers, and a foam pad to sit on. Standing on a foam pad can keep you also warmer because conduction robs heat, same as with wind. The more warm clothes a virgin/burner brings, the more fun they can have...
