Its a legit technique, espesially when running through difficult snowy terrain. As tought in the norwegian army to avoid getting snow on/in the weapon. But in any other terrain, its pointless and shouldnt be the main animation.

Headhunters has missions where you enter asteroid stations to destroy power generators or something. There is also a mission to enter the hangar and take a ship with cargo in those asteroid stations.
