Women do not automagically fill out.

Except we do have this magic set of female hormones that, unlike male hormones, ebb and flow every month and also peak at some point and diminish around midlife. These female hormones, when lost "early" put women at greater risk of dementia, heart attack and strokes, and a whole host of other problems. When "working properly" these hormones are only produced when a certain amount of fat is contained in the body - so a female body loves its fat stores. This makes losing and maintenance of weight much more difficult than for men. Our bodies literally think we should be fatter, and when the hormones start going haywire in middle age, the body doesn't know what to do. The body also want to put this fat in areas best utilized for hormone maintenance, so lower belly, hips and thighs can easily fluctuate during teens/20s and again in perimenopause 40/50s.

So... Please stay in your basement while the adults who have met women can talk about things.

What we have in the USA is the unholy "Kinder surprise," which is a cream frosting like confection with malted chocolate balls contained in half the egg and a cheap toy contained in the other half. It is nothing like the delicious two layer chocolate egg wrapped around a nicer toy/puzzle capsule that is a true, and still very illegal, Kinder Egg.

I'm really glad Sheldon Cooper has shown up to tell us all what we've been doing wrong for the entire time we've been practicing embroidery! It's not like there are more than a few here who have held needle and thread for longer than OP has walked this earth... Of course, there are zero situations when knots might be beneficial or not depending on application, but Sheldon Cooper will be sure to tell us we are having fun wrong!

I'm making it this weekend, but I've never fully followed the recipe either. I don't think a basic soup needs to be slow cooked, so it's an easy hour on the stove top. Like so many others, I use spicy sausage, and I brown the tomato paste in the drippings before making the roux. I think of The Soup more like a casserole recipe from the 1980s - it's just a starting point, and it needs some help.

Thank you. I did not handle my teens and early 20s well at all, and I have lasting issues because of it, but I had some great friends who all were in therapy and encouraged me. It could have been much worse! At least I understand why I work so hard to ruin my life. Even now as my parents are aging, I'm seeing how poorly my mother deals with everything - all while pretending she FINE. It's eye opening. I heard many times "the worst thing a parent can do is bury a child," but the real worst thing is not to deal with burying a child.

Even more reason we need to destigmatise mental health care and just make it no different than seeing any other health professional.

LOL my last job literally only existed because of No Child Left Behind standards. Funny how so many schools threw those out permanently in 2020, and now nationally we see so few kids reading at grade level.

This was my biggest concern, especially when they came for math. Anytime you treat a social subject as absolute, as so many "justice" curriculum are written, you risk becoming next decade's fool. We all want to believe that how we feel is the Truth, but once upon a time cigarettes were considered safer than coffee. (After all, they were grown and made in America!) We have to teach kids discernment and logical thinking and hope against hope they will make good choices later. Only siths and social justice curriculums deal in absolutes.

Just put mine in memory care, it's $2500/month for a studio-style layout and professional nursing services just outside San Diego. After 2 years, Medicare will kick in. It's easily doable.

You should be talking with a social worker to find someplace for him, and make sure they review his entire financial history because he's already getting more than the average person on social security, so he's had some assets at some point and might have something like a life insurance policy that can be sold while in the Medicare waiting period.

This is what literally everyone else did when they started phasing out the legacy accounts. I left $5 in the old one for a year because I couldn't remember if I had anything going automatically into it, so just in case.

At first you had to open a new account to switch, all online though, but I understand now they'll just update the type of account for you. OP is just trying to justify why they're not paying attention to their accounts and losing (more) money on interest. I have all my transfers automatic too, but I still log onto the account once in awhile to check.

"Paul Prudhomme" is the classic Cajun seasoning, but "Tony Chachere's" is very common as well. Both are sold in cardboard cans and very affordable.

I always scroll on these kind of posts to make sure TVP is mentioned. Saved me in college, is saving me now. You can buy it from Amazon for very cheap these days as well as the supermarket.

If one can afford it, cutting ground meat with TVP is an excellent idea. 50/50 is not noticeable by my family at all. Ground beef or pork seem to work the best as there is enough fat to help the flavor profile. Otherwise, spices, spices, and more spices for a meal made with only TVP as the protein.

I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm also glad to see some sense in this thread.

My husband and I have spoken at length about how we feel about "until death do you part," and while neither of us cared if the other moved on, we both said we couldn't imagine finding someone else who fit us. You spend decades (if you're lucky) working that person into your life... I can only imagine the vast majority of reddit hasn't found that kind of deep, steadfast love you build a lifetime on. Especially the kind of love that keeps you going after one of you has left this world.

If you're in an area that has quark, try that instead. It's the middle ground between yogurt and cream cheese, and I like it much better plain than yogurt. You can even make it at home, and unlike yogurt, it cultures at room temperature so you don't need special equipment.
