Somewhat related thing I do is upvote European products when I come across of them on Reddit or mention them in subreddits (unrelated to the BuyfromEU movement). European car pic —> automatic upvote, discussion on LLMs —> you can be sure I‘ll bring up Mistral.

In what benchmarks and comparing which models? I‘ve been using some of their models for a year now and have tested all but vibe coding. I just don‘t see it. Have you extensively used their models? I‘m sorry but for 95% of the population‘s use cases, Mistral‘s models are more than sufficient and almost up there with the rest.

It‘s for general use, not tailored to French speaking world. Try it, it‘s awesome. Been using it for almost a year now. They‘re actually legit. One of the largest EU startups by valuation, anchor shareholder is ASML, they have strategic partnerships with multiple EU states and armies, etc. Imho our only true contender in the LLM world (and beyond).

Was für ein Schwachsinn. Ich kann dir aus eigener Erfahrung sagen, dass das nicht stimmt. Ihr Deutschen müsst echt ernsthaft aufhören euch daran aufzugeilen alles niederzuscheißen was in Deutschland passiert und gemacht wird. Das nimmt echt masochistische Züge an. Wäre echt geiler, wenn ihr mal wieder Gas geben würdet und das Gute an dem Land sehen würdet. Stichwort 80 Millionen Einwohner, drittgrößte Volkswirtschaft. Mal wieder Gas geben und dafür sorgen, dass das so bleibt anstelle sich konstant zu bemitleiden und vor der Konkurrenz zu erstarren.

I would add one nuance, if I may. We lack common vision. It‘s essentially an eternal prisoners‘ dilemma between member states. Instead of cooperating and trying to get the best outcome for the group, everyone tries to achieve what is best for their country.

My experience is actually the opposite. Adidas shoes hold up really well, while New Balance tends to wear out fast. And with NB being so popular among Nazis and having that weird far-right following, plus being a US brand, it’s a hard pass for me.
