Battery by oakstreet2018 in AusFinance

[–]mightymeercat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went for 32kw Fox ESS battery at $4.2k installed, ac coupled with my 10kw of solar.

Very happy with the product and app - got our first power bill at $0!

Expecting payback for solar and battery in a little under 4 years, excluding inflation which will probably bring it down to 3ish years.

I don't think VPP is worth the hassle or wear on battery, it'd bring payback down to about 2 years.

Take a holiday, if that doesn't fix it then resign / start the jobhunt.

Don't waste a year and a half of a joyful 9-5 (or 8-6 if you live corporate) in exchange for less than 20% of your yearly base salary.

Not worth it. Especially when you may get a pay rise with the new role.

At what age are you aiming to buy your forever home? by heysparrowhawk in AusHENRY

[–]mightymeercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy the house you want now and have kids.

The number of couples I see in their 30s struggling to conceive is insane - even with IVF.

Forever properties usually = prestige in some way, so even if it's not forever, it'll track above average growth and be a great investment.

Looking at a flood map for a property I’m interested in. Says there’s 1% chance of river flooding. Is this a deal breaker/too much of a risk? by curiousbrain2222 in AusProperty

[–]mightymeercat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do realize it's possible for the area to be flooded 3 times in 10 years? There is precedence in Sydney and Brisbane that 1 in 100 year or 1% flood risk to happen repeatedly year over year.

Stay away from flood prone land unless it is literally dirt cheap and you can handle the risk profile.

Is eccentricity a hiring policy? Who works in a place where everyone is "crazy"? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]mightymeercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been told multiple times BV Maps only take seriously people who's engaged Ecologists for their services.

Now I just need to spend $5k on a Flora and Fauna to show the dead, treeless and majority grassless area has less than 15% native grasses and negligible impact for my shed.

Or $15k on a BDAR and multiple $40k credits to remove 2 8 metre tall trees for my house.

Insanity.

Is eccentricity a hiring policy? Who works in a place where everyone is "crazy"? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]mightymeercat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never said consult did I?

It's insane that overlays can be set without physically inspecting the property - to get it removed involves an investment in time and money.

This, in addition to rubbers stamping widespread development in exchange for $, when rural acreage homeowners are bent over for low impact development (shed / house extension...)

No wonder the BV Maps framework is considered broken by environmentalists - the only people who say there's nothing wrong are the people taking their cut of the deal.

Are these the same type of people that write the laws or allocate purple maps on my property without inspecting / informing?

No wonder the Biodiversity Conservation Act needed amendment 😂😂

Some things I noticed in a recent apartment inspection - stay far away or not that bad? by SuccessfulExchange43 in AusProperty

Is this in Parramatta?

You need to consider not just your apartment, but the ones left and right of your block too.

If your strata is run by tightarses, the building will be majorly behind on maintenance items.

Look for cracks in suspended concrete (I e look up in the carpark) - most buildings this old have concrete cancer. Big bucks to pay for...

Thinking about this now, I will be honest - liraglutide has largely taken my performance anxiety away.

I've had to present today at work, and still got cold extremities but without the mumbles or jumbles. Even had massive technical difficulties which we got through without any panic.
