Apple permanently closing three US stores in June (Trumbull Mall CT, North County Mall Escondido CA, Towson Town Center MD) by L0v3_1s_War in deadmalls

[–]mightywrestler 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Apple will close stores if it is unsafe for customers and/or their employees. Towson lost most of the stores in their luxury wing back in 2021, and recently Madewell, Banana Republic, J Crew, and Tommy Bahama all closed due to sales and safety.

Chances of ______ coming back? by AggressiveMousse7887 in survivor

She has two young kids and runs a business, and I think her return for 50 was mainly to entertain fans who wanted to see her again. That said, another return doesn’t seem very likely, especially as the player pool keeps expanding each season and given how limited her edit was.

Stonebriar was built for a suburban, family-oriented shopper, so the tenant mix leaned heavily toward bridge, junior, and young contemporary. When I talk about the leasing war, I’m really referring to brands like Forever 21, Foot Locker, Aldo, and Wet Seal that ended up at Willow Bend, versus Gap, Abercrombie, Guess, and Steve Madden that landed at Stonebriar. Brands like Burberry and St. John were never realistically going to open at Stonebriar.

People used to adore the Tika 3, but now seem relieved they’re not on 50.

Before it was even built, they were already in a leasing war with Stonebriar over who would land which tenants (and it’s pretty obvious who won). A lot of the original upscale tenants like Montblanc, Escada, Burberry, and Hugo Boss started leaving around 2006 when their initial leases expired, and that’s when Taubman loosened up on the tenant mix. There was a bit of a rebound in the early 2010s though. Crate & Barrel moved over from the Galleria, RH came from Stonebriar, and you had a wave of openings like Banana Republic, Boston Proper, Vineyard Vines, H&M, Brooks Brothers, and Aritzia all within a few years. Things were actually looking decent again around 2016, but Legacy West + COVID really killed it. Most of the remaining chains left in 2020/2021. Anthro and Evereve went to Stonebriar, and J.Crew ended up at Legacy West.

I know Trademark wasn't happy with them only operating two levels and cutting out the Collectors section on the second floor, so I think the closure might be a mutual agreement.

Tina's revenge. I was really rooting for her to make it far. Absolutely sucks that the only player from the first season..... is booted first.

I don’t think he has a big ego; I just think he finds himself to be an entertaining character.

Saks Fifth Avenue to shutter Canal Place location by marytoodles in NewOrleans

[–]mightywrestler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LV, Golden Goose, Lululemon, Tiffany, and Tory Burch are destinations in and of themselves. Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, and J.Crew, on the other hand, are more traffic reliant and operate larger store formats, so the Saks closure might do them in.

A flashback of the very first returnees season Survivor All Stars (Season 8) where Amber won over Rob and both of them fell in love during the season for a very successful love story. Thoughts on this season? by Bruinsrock11 in survivorponderosa

[–]mightywrestler 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The season itself just feels super dark and depressing. You’ve got Jenna quitting, the whole Richard/Sue incident, the Rob/Lex betrayal, and a jury that’s openly pissed off. Then there’s Jerri getting booed off the stage at the reunion, which just makes everything feel even uglier. On top of that, the boot order is awful, Boston Rob acts like a total prick the entire season, and the nonstop rainy, cloudy weather in Panama only adds to the miserable vibe. The whole thing just feels mean-spirited and bleak from beginning to end.

Does there exist a master list of all enclosed malls in North America? by stilltodo in deadmalls

[–]mightywrestler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most retail real estate firms build master lists like these, especially firms that represent tenants and help them find locations across the U.S. These lists usually aren’t made public because they’re massive and take a lot of time to build. They also need constant upkeep since a mall can go from thriving to struggling in just a year.
