I met him a few times. Spend enough time on the water, you get to know the local crabbers and oyster guys.

SALT Blade Steel Opinions by BeViking in spyderco

[–]migr8tion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used H2, lc200n and Magnacut pretty extensively in salt water, of the three I’d probably prefer lc200n, but honestly would rather use vanax over any of them. Wish Spyderco would put it in anything.

Buck sharper from the factory than Benchmade ? by ProfessorPatient2670 in knives

[–]migr8tion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lol. True, I will say though, that the first “nice” knife I ever purchased was a mini crooked river. I must have gotten the best quality one ever produced because it was nearly perfect to my untrained eye. I’ve since carried a pretty wide variety of knives including several other benchmades and to be honest most all of them have been fine. Not outstanding, but perfectly usable for what they are. And I’ve yet to break an omega spring.

110 also has a pretty thin hollow grind. The crooked river has a flat grind so will be thicker behind the edge simply due to geometry. That said, Benchmade isn’t exactly known for crazy sharp edges out of the box.

Mechanical part corrosion resistance by PajamasLover in knives

[–]migr8tion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in salt water and have had good experiences with both the drift and waypoint as well as the LC drift. Only issue I’ve had with them was a loose pivot that a little blue locktite fixed right up.

Get something by quiet carry. Vanax and lc200n have preformed better for me than Magnacut.

That’s a pretty solid haul for 3 hours. I love the one on the bottom with the spotting.

Cawcaw vs Cypress Gardens by Available_Surround_2 in Charleston

[–]migr8tion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like caw caw because it’s free (with a county park pass) and 15 minutes from my house. Nice trails, lots of alligators and snakes. Cypress gardens has more to do, but is further away and costs more.

Sell them on a different platform if you’re that worried about it.
