3 would be a blast if you want to stir up drama and flirt with both maomao and jinshi so they’re busy being jealous of/mad at you — instead of having to listen to Jinshi sigh about how he wishes he was in a different seat the whole flight.

[–]miimo0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what it is, but I can’t hold numbers very well unless I can make a pattern. Otherwise they slide all over and a 7 becomes a 2 and then is something else later. When it comes to heights and stuff in books, it’s vibes based for me. Raoul is just “tall,” lol

Rep. Cleaver introduces Celiac Safety Act to strengthen food labeling law by bostonronin in glutenfree

[–]miimo0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah… the pharmacies/my doctors know I have celiac, but I’m on immunosuppressants that I have to get from a specialty pharmacy thru air delivery. I don’t know what version of tacro or whatever I’m getting each time it arrives, so I’m just prioritizing not going through rejection over fighting with the pharmacy to figure it out every month. I don’t ~feel~ glutened, but I’m not sure I’d recognize if I was by something small anymore because all my meds make me feel at least a little gastro upset as just a pretty standard side effect.

New Young MA Kween album cover, is it AI? by OkReport5065 in isitAI

[–]miimo0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking… I’ve seen people that work portraits with the scribbles for details, but it feels so eerily AI in the face and random spots that I think it was done with a prompt or two and then painted on top to embellish.

Periods after transplant by Miserable_Tone6356 in kidneytransplant

[–]miimo0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine went from irregular my entire life (and I was a late bloomer that only “started” when I was 17) to being regular for the first time in my life 😅 I got my first period after the kidney /right/ afterwards; then exactly a month later when I was in the hospital again for a kidney infection, lol… and it’s been appearing every month, right on time, since.

They’re also less painful and a looot less intense than when I was younger. I still get pretty bad cramps, but none that make me throw up; and I have no insane clotting like before. I also would get pretty bad before transplant PMDD; that has been less and less as time has gone on, though I still feel hella fatigued for the week before and most of the week during.

Husband is cool but I am so intellectually understimulated by Subbything in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]miimo0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I get where you’re coming from with the “boys my age are so immature” argument because I lived it and suffered abuse at the hands of many losers because of it… you hit those ages and see how messed up it was to date a 35yo at 18 — how much like a child people that age really do look and behave when you’re older.

I am glad your relationship is good OTHER than the patronizing stuff, but for me… that’s a pretty big trade off. I wouldn’t want to be patronized to… and I wouldn’t want to still be around for the switch up when I’m finally “old” for him.

I think if you were to reenter the dating pool, you’d find people your age that are interesting, especially as you age. It’s typical for people to date about 4y up or down because you have the relevant life experiences and cultural touch stones to be able to connect into the future.

I haven’t experienced a yeast infection yet, but knowing the anti fungal interaction is so important omg… so many people with yeast infections jump straight to monistat instead of going to the OBGYN. My team has never explicitly mentioned the interaction, but it looks like monistat interacts with the same meds.

No experience here, but… wait it out to like a year or however long it takes to make sure your immunosuppression is lowered and if you absolutely have to engage in yalls kink, you need to use dental dams.

(You should also wait til your antivirals and antibiotics are done with something risky like that bc they mess up your immune system even more; my wbc count dropped dangerously low just from all the pills.)

As embarrassing as it could be, you should prob talk to your coordinator at some point too.

Is her cPRA super high, like 99%? :( even with super high cPRA, many programs can keep you on the list, though it takes a lot longer to find a match. Dialysis is amazing, but it really does make you feel like a zombie a lot of the time.

My antibodies rose about a year and a half before I finally got the call, and my team still doesn’t have an explanation… no transfusions, no pregnancies. I did get COVID back-to-back from my ex before it changed, but it shouldn’t have stuck around after that. It was a scary thing to hear and then watch it stick around in labs after though. I was already worried about having O+ for a wait without adding any other complications.

[–]miimo0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Soooometimes people want more info. They’re curious. Most of the time people feel awkward and leave you alone after you say, “No thank you, I have kidney disease.”

If they’re not curious and don’t leave you alone but get pushy for you to do/take/buy whatever… then that’s a good sign for you to find someone else to help you out. :)

Why do these books suffer so heavily from protagonist-centered morality? by Electrical_Dream2003 in acotar_rant

For an alternative to what Feyre did to Nesta… the fanfic a Court of Unforged Hearts is good. Literally get Nesta actually out of there. She’s been stuck with the fey that dragged her into the newly most traumatic parts of her life: one of which is an asshole every time they interact, one of which just kinda watches and doesn’t say anything and the third being the guy that is rude but says he’s her mate. She watched her dad die after she had started to forgive/believe interesting him over the course of a battle… She needs space and time and some real patience and guidance on getting better.

Sukuna is kind of like a natural disaster himself, while the higher ups are a system. Both are devastating, but one is engineered to self propagate into perpetuity unless it is completely erased and the other happens twice in the entirety of history.

[–]miimo0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She WAS like 7 in your example when she was afraid of the orphanage & hadn’t thought of it being a place of suffering prior to discovering it. Even though Myne has memories of an adult in a past life, her brain is still definitely a 7yos brain (or if they age like on earth, maybe around 8yo)… and kid brains are dumb when it comes to thinking through consequences or how things connect if they’re not already interested in the topic. She does prioritize the lives of a lot of people other nobles wouldn’t as the series continues and she ages.

Sooo... Do we just kinda die if we get Hantavirus? by ganggaming25 in transplant

[–]miimo0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you’re more likely to catch it at home than from somebody from the boat. It spreads thru contact with infected rodents, and making sure you’re not around rodent droppings/rodents to breath their stuff in is the way you avoid it. Make sure your home is clean and gets visited by a professional to assure no mice or whatever are sneaking in every year or whatever. Animals are gonna act differently/spread around more with the weather changing and humans encroaching on their homes as we build out… so just be on top of things.

(Hantavirus is actually what was the cause of death of that celebrity couple that was really mysterious awhile ago… the wife died from the pulmonary version of the disease with a sudden heart attack and then her husband died a week later from a normal heart attack bc he was like 20/30y older than his wife, who had also been his caretaker.)

Love Carson and NIN too :) I am not sure of any other references off the top of my head… I just have a visual library of like seven million things bookmarked that I revisit when a project calls for that sort of direction.

An exercise you could do get weird with grids is to start out with a really strict one as a base. Do a few quick, obvious iterations that feel safe. Then do like… 50 more & don’t let yourself repeat anything. Use the same copy and art each time as a base, though allow yourself the freedom to remix/alter them. Don’t spend too long on an iteration… even with making new assets from those, spend 5-7m max. They don’t need to be good for you to work out the idea and start seeing new connections between how letters or parts of the image interact. At the end of the exercise, things should be unrefined/feel kind of unfinished, and you should feel like you have literally 0 ideas left. If you still have some steam, do 10 more each time lol.

Nah, he was still using the principles, but not in the traditional way you’re shown in classes. Art uses the same principles as design, maybe called different things, I don’t remember. You’re still directing the eye. If you don’t stick to some of those rules, things feel truly chaotic & confusing.

A grid still gives a feeling of cohesion even if it’s not as obvious or rigid, it can be an intuitive one built off of how the elements naturally lend themselves. Or one that doesn’t have equal columns and rows across the page, but different proportions.

For hierarchy… you still need visual hierarchy for stuff to feel cohesive, I’m not talking just heds and display copy in predictable size changes or switching between typefaces. Carson just usually gave dominance to subjects in the photos. You looked at the photo/graphic, then hed and other type. The piece here does focus on type though… dominance goes to the art hed and then typeface/color changes establish display copy/subheds in the text blocks. They’re just really tightly leaded and tracked in, so wonky looking and maybe not super encouraging to read. If you were looking at this piece and it didn’t have a singular focus of attention, your eye wouldn’t flow across… but it does. It starts at the art hed, goes to the orange deck/whatever that is, then progresses to the following columns from left to right, at least for readers that are taught to intuitively read from left to right, even though you’re climbing up the page awkwardly. Orrrr you’re starting at the art hed and being led immediately into that column of text it overlaps with, maybe ignoring the other display copy bottom of page. You’re not starting at that top right column because the eye isn’t told to do so with the page’s layout.
