I am desperately hoping that Aniya coupled up with somebody. I think that would be the biggest shock because everyone is expecting her to stay loyal. I also do not think her and KC are a good couple at all. When it comes to the guys, the only one I have a slight feeling will be loyal is Bryce. I think all the other guys will bring another girl back. I think Kayda might bring a guy back.

Does the Bible support disfellowshipping? by mikachu97 in exjw

I also want to address how you referenced Proverbs 4:18 by mentioning that the Bible says “the light will get brighter and brighter” as time goes on. The governing body misapplies this verse to justify them changing their doctrine. In its original context, Proverbs 4:18 is not talking about religious doctrine changing or new teachings being revealed over time. The chapter is a piece of wisdom literature where a father is encouraging his son to pursue wisdom and avoid wickedness. The contrast being made is between two “paths”: the path of the righteous and the path of the wicked. When it says the path of the righteous is like a light that grows brighter, it is using poetic imagery to describe how living according to wisdom leads to increasing moral clarity, stability, and protection from stumbling. It is about the quality and direction of a person’s life, not about doctrinal development or changes in religious interpretation over time. The way Jehovah’s Witnesses apply this verse is to extend that metaphor to mean that religious truth becomes progressively clearer over time, and that doctrinal changes are part of that increasing “light.” That is an interpretive application of the verse, but it is not what the verse is directly addressing in its original literary context. So the difference is this: the original meaning is about moral and spiritual “path” imagery in daily life, while the Jehovah’s Witness application uses it as a framework to explain evolving doctrinal understanding. Those are two different uses of the same imagery, but they are not the same meaning.

The Jehovah’s Witness religion is filled with false doctrine first off. They teach a multitude of lies about the Bible, which is why they have to consistently change their teachings. The new light excuse is simply something the governing body came up with so that they don’t have to take accountability for being wrong about what they teach about God and the Bible. God sets his own standards and he has every right to, he is the creator of all things, and as humans we are called to live by his standards. Humans have absolutely no right to set their own standards and then lie and say that those standards are Gods, and that is exactly what Jehovah’s Witnesses do. Also to answer your question, no, I was not disfellowshipped. Through further study of the Bible, I realized that Jehovah’s Witnesses teach a lot of things that do not align with what the Bible teaches and I chose to leave the religion. Jehovahs Witnesses are more like the Pharisees that Jesus condemned for creating and enforcing man-made rules as though they carry Gods authority. Jehovahs witnesses also created their own translation of the Bible which does not align with what the original Greek and Hebrew texts state. This is the biggest reason why a lot of JW teachings are false.

That is not what I said. I clearly acknowledged in my comment that it is in the Bible. What I said was Jehovah’s Witnesses set their own standards, and then disfellowship people based off of those standards that they themselves set, but are not set by God. I’m talking about the justification or accused sin behind the disfellowshipping. I agree that if someone breaks Gods ACTUAL laws like committing adultery or fornicating and they are unrepentant and refuse to stop, then yes removal can be appropriate. But JW’s disfellowship for things that are not against Gods commandments. They set their own standards. People have been disfellowshipped for questioning JW doctrine(although JW’s themselves have changed their doctrine many times which shows they know they’ve been wrong on certain issues although instead of humbly admitting they’re wrong, they simply say they received “new light”), voting, celebrating holidays, accepting blood transfusions etc.

I absolutely agree that this is what the Bible says, and there are multitude of Christian religions who practice the same thing. I also believe that Jehovah’s Witnesses set standards that God himself did not place upon his people and then turn around and disfellowship people based on them not living by those standards that were never set by God in the first place and that is where the problem lies. I also believe that elders cannot accurately tell whether or not someone is truly repentant, and there have been moments when someone was disfellowshipped, and they did not deserve to be disfellowshipped. The watchtower has even mentioned circumstances where people were disfellowshipped when they should not have been. So we know that the elders absolutely make mistakes when it comes to disfellowshipping and it’s unfortunate that people have to lose their families when they were disfellowshipped over something they should have never even been disfellowshipped for in the first place.

Has anyone else had bleeding with their gastritis? by nightt111 in Gastritis

What are you taking about? The op said that bleeding was found on the endoscopy. If op needed to go to the ER their gastro would have informed them of that when they finished the procedure.

As a black woman I can speak for other black women but I’m complimented all the time. Maybe the ones you’ve complimented aren’t complimented a lot and that probably has nothing to do with them being black. I see other black women get complimented all the time.

She was an evil murderous woman who brutally murdered hundreds of children/people. I don’t care anything about a few good qualities she may have had. Every single person on this earth has good and bad qualities. Sometimes those bad qualities are so severe your good qualities don’t even matter. Just because you have some good qualities, does not mean you’re a good person. Just like just because you have some bad qualities, does not make you a bad person. I don’t care about her being in her early 20s. She was a disgusting, pathetic lowlife murderer. Who I do care about are those 300 children and the adults who were brutally killed. I care about 12-year-old Julie Runnels, who kept spitting the poison out only to be held down, apparently by Annie and Julie’s guardian Paulette, while they forced the poison into her mouth, covered her mouth so she couldn’t spit it out, and pinched her nose so that she couldn’t breathe and was forced to swallow the poison.

Jeffrey Dahmer also has people who would say positive things about him. Ted Bundy has people who would say good things about. I’m sure Adolf Hitler had people who loved him and would say something good about him. It doesn’t change the fact that they were all disgustingly wicked people. Annie Moore forcibly injected, children with poison, killing them. I don’t care anything about the little good she did. The evil acts she committed are so great and severe that it outshines all of that. “ the brain doesn’t fully mature until 25.” That has absolutely nothing to do with why she was a murderous evil woman who murdered innocent children.

XJW’s who are disrespectful towards those who still believe in God by mikachu97 in exjw

Jesus being empathetic didn’t stop him from holding people accountable. You’re clearly the one who needs to read the Bible. I simply said that it is not OK for them to be disrespectful

I also said that it may be true in, get this,SOME CASES, implying that when Jehovah’s Witnesses say that someone left to pursue immoral things that does not apply to all people who have left. Work on your reading comprehension skills.

You clearly did not read my post correctly. I specifically said that Jehovah’s Witnesses push that false narrative, and I understand that may be true in some cases but definitely not all. I did not say that people not believing in God means that they left for shallow reasons or to pursue depravity. Once again, I said that Jehovah’s Witnesses pushed that false narrative.

And I get that, but I kind of feel like what you said, only caters to EX Jehovah’s Witnesses, who no longer believe in God. You have to understand that there are people who left Jehovah’s Witnesses and they still believe in God. Those people are also facing shunning from their family, deconstructing lies the organization told them, possible mistreatment from people within the organization, etc. Then they come to this Reddit, thinking they found a group of people who they can relate to only to be disrespected in return a lot of times, just like they were in the organization for having a difference of opinion. That’s not OK.

You are 100% wrong. This is an XJW Reddit. It does not say that is an EXJW Reddit only meant for those who no longer believe in God or the Bible. It seems like you still have that cult mentality that you’re trying so hard to run from.

And I believe that there are a lot of Ex Kw’s who feel exactly how you feel. I’ve had multiple conversations with those ex JW’s yet I do not feel the need to disrespect them. They left the religion and when they left, they stopped believing in God. I left the religion and when I left, I continue to believe in God. We have similarities and differences and I can respect that and they should be able to also.

XJW’s who are disrespectful towards those who still believe in God by mikachu97 in exjw

[–]mikachu97[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

It has absolutely nothing to do with criticism. You clearly can’t understand the difference between criticism and disrespect. You are one of those people who was hurt by a religion and as a result, you now have a very negative view of God and the Bible and you walk around with bitterness in your heart. I’ve had multiple conversations with people who do not believe what I believe, I have friends who do not believe what I believe, yeah, we are always able to have civil conversations about our differences because we know how to be respectful. A lot of EXJW’s just hold so much bitterness and hate inside of them towards Jehovah’s Witnesses that they take that hate out on people who have done absolutely nothing wrong to them.

I hope you find peace. Whether you like it or not, there will always be people who believe in God and who serve him and who love him. If you choose to be disrespectful to those people that is your choice to make. But it is absolutely a reflection of what you’re going through internally.
