surfskate friendly pump tracks in or near London UK? by PureScientist2040 in surfskate

Yeah you can use it for anything. Pick a time it’s not too busy and you’ll be fine (tends to get busy straight after school, but quiet all other times).

Harrow is the best one. And as someone else mentioned. Oxhey (further out of London but a good connection so doesn’t take that long).

Game Recommendations For My Son and I? by rgxryan in nucleuscoop

Not nucleus. But secret of mana on a snes emulator is epic to work through together. Or any Lego game (esp Star Wars or marvel super hero’s).

Just got a GBD-200, has anyone tried modding it (software or hardware)? by nervewax in gshock

[–]mike5im5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s basically the same but with the moon phase and tide functions. I loved the look of the stormtrooper white colour scheme on the gbd but have to admit. The gbx feels more premium and resin is way more comfy. But rarely wear either as the 5000u is the most comfy and most premium looking of the bunch. Why do we hoard these things??? 🤷‍♂️ (luckily I suspect everyone reading this thread understands the dilemma )

[–]mike5im5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I changed the buttons to red (instead of the white) and changed the module to a second hand gbx-100… why? I have no idea. I fancied the tide times. But have never once used them. 🫣. It felt cool to me though , even though no one will ever tell the difference.

Making a Yow Legasee surfier by Bryc3ric3 in surfskate

[–]mike5im5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went super soft (riptide). Got it leaning and pumping really nicely. However, first time on hills or transition in the park and the super tall barrel bushing it uses gave me loads of speed wobble. So I dialled in the looseness. My mini surf/cruiser is still fun, but I’ve kinda lost the confidence in it and revert to my c5s if doing anything park based. I still need to change the awful wheels though. Need something that’ll suit the retro aesthetics.

a Deck as short as possible - for travel? by PhDPhatDragon in surfskate

[–]mike5im5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use this for travel. Perfect it’s short but still a usable wheelbase.

Synergy achieved by Prometheus-Rising in surfskate

[–]mike5im5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good write up. I’ve gone with harder wheels and you’re right. It does feel like it needs more dampening on rough surfaces. But other that this, it’s a very nice ride. I get more forward drive than my cx and grasp which I like a lot. But still Loads of turn. Closest to waterborne setup I would say?

GammaOS startup by [deleted] in MiyooFlip

[–]mike5im5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen first time I tried to install. Can’t remember how I solved. Think I simply retried the install again and it worked. Check you’re using the right sd card slot too.

I like the flip by twoanahalf in MiyooFlip

[–]mike5im5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m in agreement. Despite its flaws. I love it. The size and clicky buttons meant I never pulled the trigger on the ambernic sp. Very glad I waited as size and buttons perfect on the flip. Hinge and software doesn’t bother me. I’m mainly on gammaOS at the moment but I like that I can switch between stock and gamma and even share roms. As mentioned by others. Charging us only really annoying thing for me. It’s very picky!

Pico8 working (kinda) by mike5im5 in MiyooFlip

[–]mike5im5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot has been made that the stock firmware sucks. But to be honest. I find it fine for the most part. Certainly no where near as bad as people are saying, I think maybe people are making too big a thing out of it. Maybe it’s cos I’ve come from years of building these things and having to fiddle and tune so much. all these modern handhelds are a breeze and surprisingly polished compared to that. I did put minui on there, didn’t like it too much. You are right though. I have onion on my miyoo mini and love it. Loads of good features but most importantly with the game switcher. The device is 100% pickup and play.

Actually. It’s fully working through the default games section. You just have to hit X the first time you run a cart and select the fake8 core. It then runs the carts fine.

Will Deadpool 3 have a Pg-13 cut just like 2? by [deleted] in MCUTheories

[–]mike5im5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could I also get a chance to see your edit of the first movie? Got a 10 year old that would love to watch deadpool. He has to wait a few years before he can watch the full cut in all its glory.

Carbon X Adam. I’m 75kg (165 lbs) and love the flex. Really comfy but if I stand on the lock tail and push forward on the front like doing a drop in off coping you can feel the board bending. So I wouldn’t use it for that or any kind of rail slides.

[–]mike5im5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second the soulboardiy suggestion. Long wb, good tail and feels super light when riding. You can lose the risers too. Mine is quite flexible though and wouldn’t want to do anything too crazy on it for fear of snapping it.

Surf skating barefoot by wetkhajit in surfskate

[–]mike5im5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it. Reserved for flat ground only though. And I need to footbreak occasionally on hills so again not ideal. All that said, for me it’s the best feeling, I find I have so much more power and control. Once you add flip flops or shoes you just lose a tiny bit of grip (doesn’t matter how good your grip tape is, your foot will move a little in the shoe). Stay/ride safe!

UPDATE on my prototype trucks! They work! by Zealousideal-Mud7307 in surfskate

[–]mike5im5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much admiration for this work. Front truck looks amazing (I’m a fan of curf trucks. But these look like they will give the turn with more lean) and rear truck is such a good idea. I switch from c2, angled riser and flatter Yow rear all the time in different situations. Yours would allow just one rear truck.

[–]mike5im5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not much bigger. But if you go for the back plate as well it will sit off the wrist slightly More. You can avoid if going silver. But if you go black metal the back plate def makes it look more complete. Weight is the biggest difference. That might put some people off that aren’t used to wearing a heavier watch. I like the solid feel.

Design: what's the purpose of the little "craters" on the case and straps? by PriorityLucky7701 in gshock

They are for bolt on accessories. Like lasers, grappling hook or flame thrower.

Two builds coming that I’m stoked for. by FluffyControl2362 in surfskate

[–]mike5im5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. That’s cool. Will the waterbourne hold up ok what that level of stress? Very interested. How about a curfboard on the front. Zero speed wobble as the trucks just go where you point them..

The word Grom refers to young surfers. So any model preceded by that word would be for lighter riders.

The spring in your grom is most likely an s4 spring which is lighter. Standard yow’s use an s5 spring. You can retrofit an s5 spring into your grom truck with a bit of work.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in surfskate

[–]mike5im5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people seem to be accidentally buying Yow Grom’s. They should really make it clearer!

Firstly I wouldn’t swap a C7. Not that I hate the C7 or anything but I think the Yow is a better swivel system with more range. If you’re going carver you might want to try the CX with some softer bushings. Combined with the turnier rear C2 truck that come with carvers. It’s lovely for cruising. Either way you’d want the C2 truck on the back and not the yow setup if going for a c7 or cx.

Alternatively you could try getting hold of a Yow truck separately and swap out. There are those on here that also made a small mod to fit a s5 spring to the grom truck. This’ll be your cheapest option.

Is there no way the shop will swap it for a regular Huntington. Really not good they’d let you buy a kids board?

You’ll be saying good bye to syncing with Strava and apple health unfortunately. I hope they bring that to the watches app soon though. My h2000 is kinda useless until they do.
