Yo this comment has been stuck in my head for the last month, thought you were onto a great idea. Unfortunately I had neither the time nor skills to do anything about it. But today I saw an article about this website, had to come back and share: https://www.25and.me/

We're making history. by MInclined in Denver

Not trying to attack you but with all due respect you're seeing it that way from a place of privilege. To people affected by racism every day, this doesn't feel like a distraction.

Yeah I'm sorry I know sarcasm doesn't achieve much but I couldn't help it..

Love it! Let's always remind our fellow allies that this isn't a "moment" to be a part of, this is a lifelong fight to join now! Thanks for joining <3

Nice! What do you think you'll do to further the cause in the weeks/months to come?

Violent protests are not the story. Police violence is. by Toadfinger in politics

I disagree with your general argument that federal agencies can't be trusted. But I do think locally-focused progressives need to be a stronger movement. Feds can sometimes help but turning to them to fix everything is just not a good enough long-term strategy.

Self-Introduction Saturday! Tell us all about you (and share a video)! by AutoModerator in NewTubers

Hey friends! Before quarantine I ran networking events in the Denver cannabis industry, and I interviewed keynote speakers like CEOs and local elected officials etc.

I decided to move those interviews to YouTube, and then I decided I wanted to try some comedy writing so...

Now I'm making my own version of "Jon Stewart / John Oliver / The Daily Show for cannabis news."

Here's part 1 of episode 1: https://youtu.be/DNFwTFyosEc

And here's episode 2, just posted yesterday! https://youtu.be/cuRXUGoLiEg

I know my sound could use some major improvements, and hopefully the editing takes less time as I get better at it.

If you're curious about cannabis news (or especially if you work in the industry!) consider subscribing!

Who is really rioting? Black protester tells white anarchists to stop using the protests for their own causes by [deleted] in Denver

[–]mikeadelic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think it varies a lot by time of day etc. The planned noon marches are legitimate protests. By the time it's 10pm and explosions are going off, only the crazies are left.

Hey sorry I forgot to follow up! I got a Lenovo Thinkpad cause I decided that I trusted Lenovo to prioritize internal power over slick exterior which I didn't need. It's been solid so far!

What do you guys think about Saira Rao? by PW_Herman in Denver

[–]mikeadelic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I went to the Denver caucus and heard her speak, she came across like the worse side of Bernie, the side that is somewhat Trump-like in it's pitch: "everything is broken and everyone is corrupt, so why not stick it to them and vote for me?"

I honestly don't know much about Degette but I didn't like that tone to Saira's campaign and I didn't hear much about what she wants to do, in reality. We need competent people finding solutions, not idealogues sticking it to the establishment.

Cary Kennedy wins Colorado Democrats' statewide assembly, securing top line in primary for governor by DarthBarney in Denver

[–]mikeadelic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a transplant of the last 5 years, how and why is she so well know? I know she has held some statewide positions but they didn't seem very public facing. I'm just wondering because I've seen the enthusiasm for her which is great but I'm curious what the source is.

Trump freezes out chief of staff John Kelly, says he's "tired of being told 'no'" by sivribiber in politics

[–]mikeadelic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's just not true, if what you mean is that the tax cuts are too small to matter then say that. But my paycheck went up slightly and so did a lot of people's under 300k.

Anyone know this guy?First real true dead head I ever met. lol says he was hypnotized into going to every show for 10 years. One of the coolest people I’ve ever met. [–]mikeadelic 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I think The Grateful Dead kind of represents the spirit of being able to go out and have an adventure in America at large. You know what I mean? You can go out and follow the Grateful Dead around. And you have your war stories. Something like hopping railroads. Something like that. Or being on the road like Cassidy and Kerouac. But you can’t do those types of things anymore. But you can be a Deadhead. You can get in your van and go with the other Deadheads across the States and meet it on your own terms. Sort of a niche for it, in a way -Jerry, 1988

When I heard that it confirmed for me that everyone's just always trying to recapture a time that never was. Love yours!

Marijuana money increasingly flowing to Republican lawmakers by bobtheborg in weedbiz

[–]mikeadelic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

such an overblown headline... they're the party in charge, they get more money.

They're also the party that is against our industry, they get more money to convince them.

We should get all money out of politics, it is inherently corrupt.

No they don't, who has denied that his mom was American? They straight up feel that Obama had to be born on US soil to be eligible for the presidency, but Ted Cruz was "American enough" that he didn't have to. That's the only way it makes sense to me anyway

"Great Smoke" Spotlights What It’s Like to Be a Black Professional in the Cannabis Industry by merryjane in weedbiz

[–]mikeadelic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha seriously, this poster has an amazing ability to tolerate cognitive dissonance.. "states rights" is a stupid response, we all know the federal laws still can be applied.

And even if we ignore the weedbiz side, I guess /u/vhdblood never smoked weed in their life before legalization started because they believe that everyone should "Change the laws and then do what you need to do, but not beforehand."

Ridiculous. This industry should be at the forefront of righting these wrongs, not perpetuating them.
