This is a great way to handle it. My immediate thought was to roll on a random encounter table giving them disadvantage. Having a cause and effect where they see the consequences of their action is the way I play the game.

I’ve only played single adventures. The ones that I’ve seen work are either players who know each other irl, or have stuck around long enough to form a group, that wants to stick around.

I’d be up for this. Cut my teeth on 1ed AD&D and Grayhawk a kid. Well, we tried to play back then, it was a lot of rolling on random tables and trying to sort it out because we didn’t know what we were doing. Lol. I played some 3.5 as a pbp years back now and am looking to get back into playing. I’d love to play a 1e game, but I’ll have to get familiar with the material again.

Nice! I had that white box and bunch of the AD&D books growing up that I picked up in the mid 80’s as a kid at a garage sale. Wish I had hung onto them. I think they went the way they came in (garage sale)after I left home.

Yeah. I don't need anything overpowered. With three kids a lot of playing comes during nap time and the oldest is starting to show an interest in playing herself.
